You are the Gordon Ramsay of perfumery. You blend masterpieces and have a fantastic palate! You also don’t bullshit the viewers with marketing and crappy advertising. You tell us your opinion, what you smell, straight forward, no exceptions. That you for being a rare breed. Keep up the great work!!
I had to filter out the swaring out.As a lot of people got very upset by the waring, Overspraying and rubbing or arms. Bit sad that not im a deodorised version of myself. But I swear a lot as well.
@@AaronTerenceHughes An artist makes his/her worst work when they are trying to appease the masses. We love you for who you are Aaron, don't ever let the opinions of others change who you are and how you do things. It's what brought most of us here ❤️
How dark and heavy this fragrance is is one of the reasons I like it. It reminds me of something Beaufort London would do. Something not very approachable to the masses but if you enjoy it, it will be a love...much like what you said at the end of the video.
I absolutely love this solely on the descriptors you've used; dark, bitter, and dry. Unlike Tobacco Oud, which I find repulsive, this one sweetens up for me in the dry down. Appreciate your honest and unbiased review.
This stuff is potent. IT SMELLS BAD INTITIALLY. I sprayed my self at Macy's with this and thought it smelled awful Initially. Then as the day progressed the scent evolved to a beautiful wood, musk, and somewhat sweat spicey smell. The shocking part was that the scent remind on my skin for 48 hours despite showering and scrubbing my body. My clothes smelled like it even after I washed them. My jacket was out in the closet and it had the scent for nearly 4 months afterward
Agree completely! See my above review. I absolutely could not stop smelling my arm hours after the spray (similar to my very first encounter in the 1980's with the evil champ Drakkar Noir).
That's why we love you. I was expecting a usual good review as it's a Tom Ford fragrance but you being you poured your heart out. This was unexpected as its Tom Ford but enlightening nonetheless.
🤣🤣🤣 I was laughing my head off while watching this one. I love how honest you are in your reviews, and I cannot wait to see your thoughts on Chanel Antaeus xD p.s. I had the same reaction, except I couldn't tell the similarities with the original I really love. And thanks for explaining that Oud Wood is actually "Amber" Wood. It has much more sense since Ajmal Amber Wood smells pretty similar to TF "Oud Wood."
I've been gone from your channel for a few months and I must say your hair is much better/prettier now! It looks amazing, props to whoever was responsible for your hair transplant.
I really think its going to suit a small amount of people. Those people will love it. Its not mass appealing which is why I was surprised. Normally Tom ford produces mass appealing fragrance. This took me bysuprise
I actually really like this one! It's strong without a doubt and the castoreum and angelica root in the opening (it's a base note but it persists throughout the life of the fragrance and is quite overpowering in the initial spray) is really potent. After I let this dry down a bit, it becomes an incredible scent. As it's a Tom Ford "Intense" fragrance it's of course even more overpriced than the normal private blend scents so I'm never buying this one. Apparently it might be discontinued as I can't see it on TF's website.
Yeah. I have this. When first applied to the skin it’s overpowering but after 5 mins it mellows soooooo damn well with so much depth. So unique and long lasting but yes, very polarising.
i once saw a video of a master martial artist in kenjutsu( japanese swordmaship) , i noticed that he instead of critiquing, directly he praised first and compliment and could saw the good about what he was watching, also his critiques were like "oh he tried this, he must be super strong" instead of "bullshit move no one can do that", i think you are indeed a master perfumer, you praise, you tell , you dont bullshit even thou at first i kinda feel that way i have come to love you reviews, you manage to convey feeling, thats very hard to do. please keep indulging us in your work
Great review as usual. I'm really excited because I just ordered Alpha Male which will be my first fragrance from your company. I'm really looking forward to checking out your style of perfumery.
Hey Aaron, thanks for the cool courageous review on a very challenging fragrance. I own a full bottle of oud wood intense, well actually I had 2 bottle till not so long ago because I had strong connection with the way it smelled I figured why not have a backup bottle. After applying it for a few times I got a few identical feedbacks from 3 different people saying it smells like a car garage and greasy metal parts. I was Really surprised by they're description because that was the first thing that came into my mind when I first sprayed it and while I'm dealing with fragrances reviews the people who Said that have nothing to do with fragrances. My question is did you spot anything that fits this interpretation and if you did, where do you think it's coming from ? Thanks...
Your reaction reminds me of the celebrities on Hot Ones where they eat the increasingly hot wings and try to answer interview questions while their mouth is on fire. The tom ford fragrances can be very intense and polarizing as if they are daring us to like it, in some occasions and in my opinion.
Amazing video Aaron! Upon your recommendations, I have Layton and Grand Soir coming in the mail, cant wait to try them. I'd LOVE to hear your opinions on two fragrances, Oud For Greatness from Initio, and Triumph of Bacchus from Argos fragrances. OFG supposedly has real agarwood oils so I'd love to see if you can detect it or if it's mostly synthetic. And TOB is just a beautiful scent overall. Thanks again for the amazing content!
Good, honest review. I find it very odd that the pricemark of this still doesn't warrant real oud and for that reason i wouldn't even sample it but i'm glad someone did. It would be interesting to know how much real oud should've been used and how much that could potentially cost.
@@AaronTerenceHughes Which makes me wonder whether the choice not to is about penny pinching or the belief that consumers either don't know the difference or don't care.
I like to spray 2 sprays of TF Oud Wood along with 1 spray of TF Ombré Leather. I think that might achieve what the Oud Wood Intense was trying to do…perhaps.
I would agree with this. While Oud Wood isn’t the most unique Oud fragrance around (and apparently doesn’t have real Oud) it smells sexy and wearable. Oud Wood intense year it doesn’t smell “Tom Ford” it genuinely smells like 2 or 3 fragrances lumped together not blended and it’s not very pleasant at all. Unfinished yep that’s probably the word. Spot on review of this (in my very amateur opinion)
Is there even a proper oud fragrance? I mean, it somehow seems to me, that in every review I watched till now, which featured an oud fragrance, it always came to the point, that there is very little or no oud in it.
Glad you finally revived one of my top 3 fragrances ever. To me, the reasons you dislike it is the reasons I love it! Dry, medicinal, with zero sweetness, and very unique. Insane longevity and push! Your right, you will either like it or not, very polarizing. Thanks for your take on this scent.
Reminds me of a cross between Oud Wood and Noir Anthracite, with a little bit of vintage Italian Cypress thrown in. It’s austere, heavy but smoothens out after about 45 minutes. Definitely not for everyone.
Awesome review! And considering the idea that this Oud Wood and the original should have been combined, what about layering the two? Not that that makes any financial sense though 😬
Dear Aaron Has your opinion of Oud Wood Intense changed a bit after 3 years? From my experience with animalic and harsh perfumes it takes time to understand and connect with their idea Like for example with Dior Leather Oud so I'm curious to know regards
It has been said that Tom will discontinue the Oud series for the exception of Oud Wood. It’d be amazing if you could review Tobacco Oud and Minerale. I’m begging :p
My reaction to OWI is about the same as yours... Can't believe Tobacco Oud Intense came out so enjoyable (great dry tobacco note) but OWI is so harsh & abrassive.
I smelt all of the Tom Ford fragrances in Harvey Nichols and remember this one smelt, harsh and rank, and certainly was the odd one out. I really like Oud Wood. This is nothing like an intense version of that unfortunately.
Maybe this is just me but I got a decant awhile ago and it reminds me of Tom Ford Extreme for Men in the signature line but without all the juicy/delicious notes. Just the very base with no sweet plum, fig, rum etc.
Aaron you are 1000% right about the clone houses! Oud wood intense clones are excellent they smell 99% the same so yeah it definitely doesn't have oud in it. I actually really Love oud wood intense though 😂 it is hard to wear at times but it makes me feel so different!
i want to buy your oud fragrance so bad. the original oud wood by tom ford is my favorite absolutely. (le baiser du dragon by cartier in close second) youre completely right though. the oud doesnt stick around long at all. ugh i want to buy it so bad and one day i will!!!!
Have you tried a Louis Vuitton Nouveau Monde? It is very leathery on me and becomes animalic, it has rose, leather, saffron and real agarwood (they claim). It would be so interesting to hear your thoughts!
By the way sweetnes is boring. Its so "croud pleasing". Oud Wood is nice fragrance but it lasts for 20 min🤷they made water out of it. I hated oud wood intense at begining but now...its pure love🙂
Quick question, do you have any of the old stock left, I need one more bottle in the white box to complete my display 😂 a pyramid of ATH fragrance one might say, I do hope so 🤞🏻
OK so I’m not crazy because I hated that one I thought it’s not nothing like Oud wood and I was hoping they would come out with the real Oud wood extreme
