Aaron you're so soothing and comforting to watch and listen to. A very calming presence with just a touch of saucy abrasiveness because you own your opinions and don't compromise which is lovely. I think if you pivot to ASMR without stating that you're an ASMR channel and keep your content focus you'd see your subscriptions jump from 60k to 600k.
Don't think I'll be trying this one! Love the reviews on this channel. I took a couple of years of chemistry at university and it awakens my inner nerd and sparks a desire to know more about how perfumes are put together. Very informative, and all delivered with a passion for his art/science that is deeply engaging. The flamboyant and expressive body language and being easy on the eyes don't hurt the watchability either. Best perfume reviewer on youtube by a mile in this bloke's estimation.
It's high on my list to get as well, I went through my 10ml travel-size very fast.. I have Musc Ravageur, the Moon, Dans Tres Bras and Cologne Bigarade in Full bottles, maybe this will be my fifth? But Malle has so many stunners..
Great review! If you've ever seen the movie Mommy Dearest, you know that there's a scene where Joan Crawford destroys a rose garden by snipping off all the flowers. This is the olfactory equivalent of that scene, post disaster. There are all of the green, thorny aspects of rose present... The leaves and foliage... But no rose flowers. You can smell a leather reminiscent of shearing gloves, and a bracing metallic smell reminiscent of pruning shears. Citronellol is definitely present here, and might turn off a few noses due to it's mosquito candle associations. I quite like this one. It is cold, shrill and shrieks at times due to it's geranium note, just like Joan Crawford in that scene. Lucky, the base notes of leather and vetiver keep it classy and somewhat grounded. This reminds me a bit of Bvlgari Kobraa, although they are very different. This geranium hisses and shrieks much louder😂
I love Frederic Malle Rose&cuir, it is a masterpiece! Beautiful rose and brutal leather. This scent is strong, heavy, memorable, but doesn't overwhelm me at all. The scent will suit both men and women equally and will make its owner even more luxurious and chic
I have this in my collection and I do get that headache if I apply more than 3* on my neck. I assumed it was from the IBQ... I love to wear it in the autumn and winter on clothes, wearing a white shirt and a black leather jacket. I love it for the photorealistic smell of a rose bouquet with leaves and steams. I've been told it has a green peppermint smell, someone else told me it reminds of their grandmother...definitely not a croudpleaser, you either love it or hate it. Thank you Aaron for the review.
oddly enough I suspected this wasn't going to give you tingles. I understand that the rose was an interpretation from memory. The rose is somewhat off-putting. I personally love it in the warm -cooler months but not in the colder/hot months! I love leather fragrances and i find myself reaching for Eau Rihla by Dyptique when I want to dress down and not reach for Tuscan Leather.
Smelled this before at a store and got some similarities to Vilhelm's Harlem Bloom which is a sweeter suede-rose scent. To me, Rose & Cuir's fruity aspect isn't like the ones you get in Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather or Suede et Safran from Nishane or PDM's Godolphin. This is still, at its core, a rose-leather.
These fruity leathers somehow in trend for years. I dont mind leathery accords if they are kept as a rounding accord in the back but not as the main accords. So I didn‘t like this and also sold my tuscan leather. I really like Black Saffron Byredo though. People say its like TL but I couldnt agree less… the Byredo smells like a clean leather jacket washed with fruity and slightly spicy shampoo. Anyhow, Aaron I would love to see a review of my favourite Fragrance from you: Do Son Edp from Diptyque
Yay, not Tom Ford. I love FM but wish the prices were a little lower. I have and love Musc Ravageur and French Lover and want many more. I think my next smmple will be Monsieur.
There was a big sale here in Bangkok--they were trying to get rid of the worst-selling fragrances and this was one on that list (I think 20% off!!). I tried it on my forearm and it was a little sharp for me, an overdose of geraniol and it was scratchy on the drydown. seemed to have lasted forever on my skin though. Not for me, even with 20% off.
