I like ihis lens. Very sharp, handles well. It stays on my camera.

I'm very glad to hear that. Just out of curiosity, does the image also look washed-out when you use F1.7?

@@ConstantineSPhotography I may be lucky, but I haven't experienced the "wash." Probably because of the reviews, Pergear enclosed a free hood and I keep the hood on it. Both to shade it and to protect it because I don't have a filter on it. BTW, I also have the 7 Artisans 25mm f/1.8, which is just as sharp but, has much worse vignetting.

Thanks for sharing! I guess I got a bad sample. I prefer the 7 Artisans 25mm f/1.8 to this one.

@@ConstantineSPhotography The 7 Artisans lens is a very good lens, the main thing I have against it is the clickless aperture ring-- I'm old school on those.

The 'washed out' look that you were talking about is that given by old-style or vintage lenses. Used to get that type of look often when I shot with prime zeiss lenses on my old Contax film cameras. Modern lenses tend to be very much better optically than any lenses made 3 or 4 decades ago, but they tend to lose a bit of that photo 'soul' that old lenses used to give. Best analogy I can give is that between music produced by digital music and that of analogue music like old records. Digitalised music is perfect but music from a record draws you in more.

Thanks for sharing! I can appreciate the washed-out look, but if it's intentionally designed to appear this way, shouldn't the effect be consistent across all aperture settings, instead of only at f1.7?

At 5:38 you said 'the difference between f1.7 and 1.8 is marginal' - at the same time the video shows f1.7 and then f2.8. Are the f1.7 and f2.8 images both from the 25mm f1.7 lens?

At 5:38 I mean generally the difference between an f1.7 and f1.8 of any lens should be marginal, and yes, the f1.7 and f2.8 from this 25mm f1.7 lens is very different. You can see f1.7 the images look washed-out.

How would TTartisan 25mm f2 lens compare to these two?
@ConstantineSPhotography
@ConstantineSPhotography 4 месяца назад
I would say ttartisan 25 f2 is more similar to the 7artisans lens than the Pergear lens, both have better quality when shooting wide open. Personally I like the 7artisans more.

I have the Meike 25mm f1.7 manual lens. Use it for street photography paired with the Sony ZV E10. It's not that sharp wide open. Stopping down to f2.8 and above improves the sharpness and image quality.

I can see the size of it perfect for street photography. Does your Meike lens also apear washed-out at f1.7?
