Very good review. I just received mine last week with a stainless bracelet. No drilled lugs and the old Glycine logo. Guessing it is the latest generation. I love it as well. Cheers from the USA

Thank you Steve. Have fun wearing yours. I prefer the crown logo compared to the new logo to be honest. Drilled lugs are quite handy though! Yes yours is made before the Invicta deal. Wearing mine now on a very pretty Nato by Vario 😁

The lack of fauxtina tint in the lume make this watch a winner. I have the GL0083 and the only thing I don’t like is the fake aged lume.

Any issue sizing the bracelet? I've struggled to displace and replace the pins on mine. It's almost as if the pins are a hair too large...

Thank you for a great review. I'm debating between this watch and a Davosa diver with ceramic bezel. I know the Davosa is more of an homage. I'm leaning towards the Glycine. Are there any other factors I should consider between the two? Thanks again for the video! Cheers from San Diego! :)
@GadgetsforGentlemen
@GadgetsforGentlemen 5 лет назад
I don’t know Davosa to be honest. Personally I favor brands with a history. Glycine was a well respected brand (before Invicta bought it?) and it was issued to the military in the Vietnam war. Those points matter to me. If you are into homages, you might also want to check Phoibos and Steinhart 😁

I've just watched a bunch of your videos, and I must say, I'm super glad I've found this channel! For two reasons: (1) I have a very similarly sized wrist, and your perspective in that regard is invaluable; and (2) We have shockingly similar taste in watches. Of the watches in your channel, I currently own the SNK809, blue mini-Turtle, Vostok Amphibia, SKX013, Citizen NY0040, Casio A168W, SARB017, SARB033, G-Shock DW5600BB, F-91W and the Seagull 1963. That's an entire collection right there! I also own an Orient Mako 2 which I'll probably not keep for the same reasons you decided to move on from the Ray 2. I discovered your channel while trying to research a Glycine Combat Sub, in my case, the GL0076. My question (OF COURSE) is whether you are still satisfied with the way it fits now that you have owned it for over 8 months? I know it's larger than ideal, and I understand that its wide diameter and long lugs are mitigated by the thin case and the curvature of the lugs . . . so what I'm hoping for is a more emotional/subjective answer as to how you FEEL about its fit after extended ownership. Are you still satisfied to the point that you would recommend it to someone who shares the same wrist size? I'd really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you!

Hi Henry, thanks for your comment. Highly appreciated! Nice collection. Regarding my Combat Sub: I am not in love with the metal bracelet. I usually wear it on a Nato. The watch fits great. Since I bought the Seiko SPB077 the Glycine doesn’t get a lot of wrist time. Dimensions are not everything. Although we have similar wrist sizes the way a watch wears is a different experience for the both of us. Realistically speaking I think the Combat Sub and the Seiko 077 are too large for my wrist. However I don’t mind it. The Seiko speaks to me on an emotional level. Somehow the Glycine keeps me cold. I don’t like the weaker lume, difficult bezel, average bracelet and the Glycine logo. On paper, however, it’s a near perfect watch. If I wear to get a very good offer I would likely sell it. Can’t say the same about my Seiko SKX013 and SPB077. Hope this helps you a bit. Make sure to check wrist shot photos on my Instagram for more info regarding the way it suits the wrist. Kind regards

@@GadgetsforGentlemen Thanks for your detailed feedback! There's a deal on the GL0076 at Costco for $299 USD that had me on the verge of ordering, but your comments have given me some pause, which I appreciate. I own some other Glycines, which I like a lot, and I have a feeling that the arabic dials might come across a bit less cold. That said, it's easy to compromise on size when maybe patience is in order. The thinness of the Combat Sub appeals to me a lot (thinness is a factor that gets overlooked, but that I'm learning makes a big difference), so now I'm thinking maybe I should wait and instead save up for a NTH Nacken Modern Blue, which is a little bit thicker (but still quite thin), and which is 40mm with shorter lugs. Decisions, decisions. Thanks again!
@GadgetsforGentlemen
@GadgetsforGentlemen 5 лет назад
Henry Nguyen $300 is an amazing deal. In terms of design and dimensions I think NTH looks better. They are both definitely very thin divers. Also look into Oris 65 and Mido Ocean Star. Of those two the Oris is for me the winner, although only 100m WR.
@ohhenry2
@ohhenry2 5 лет назад
@@GadgetsforGentlemen Thanks for your reply! I've always found the Oris 65 to be an eye-catcher, but I've always worried about is wearability. It has a very narrow bezel, which tends to have the effect of enlarging the dial . . . I always figured it'd just look too big on the wrist as a result. Have you tried the Oris 65? If so, how did you like the way it fit/wore on your size wrist?

For me military time is common sense but many people get confused. I had few co workers that couldn't figure out military time once I posted new schedule lol. Other than that, format used on this watch is good, since it's impossible to cover every hour, time on military watches goes from 13 to 24.

This watch is well made esp.and great value objectively for what they sell for , and practical due to its thinness but it mostly stay gathering dust in my drawer along with the airman 42 as there is no fun to it... I much prefer my Seiko beaters although not as well made.
