I think what's interesting is that they usually do it on a woman as well just to show the balance but we forget it's not just grown women walking around like nothing's happening it's 12 year old girls going to school, dance classes, playing sports and still walking around like they're not in any pain.

Be very clear--the woman felt the pain just as intensely as the man did. The difference is when you deal with something for the majority of your life, you learn how to manage it. It's not that it doesn't hurt--because it hurts like hell every single time and it's not something you just "get used to"--but we learn how to deal with it.

And it's actually not great medically either if you get used to high levels of pain, because when something *else* starts to hurt, your "yeah it's bad but I'll get by" might actually be many people's "something isn't right I need to see a doctor today"

I don't get it in a wave, more of an incline where it progressively gets worse. I take pain killers as soon as I feel it, but those take an hour to start to kick in so I'm in quite a bit of pain by that point. I'll then proceed to take a different pain killer as the first only numbs it somewhat to be bearable pain over tear producing agony. The pain goes gradually down as the meds work. I've had times where I didnt realise I was out of painkiller and had to wait for someone to get some. I've faced at least 2hours of constant agony before where I can only cry and whimper. It never lessoned like a wave. I'd love to try out one of these things to see if they reach the level of pain I experience. Some months aren't as bad as others and it's just the first 2 days.

I am currently on my period while watching this. I am one of the few lucky women who don't experience bad period cramps as most would describe it (I've heard that it's comparable to having a heart attack). I could still play sports and do a bunch of things because there's little to no pain, but it is kind of uncomfortable and awkward doing regular things when you're on your period. You got double the laundry, double the cravings, and you're also constantly worried about your pants and stuff. My cramps have always been mild, and I've guessed that it may have to do with my diet and my water intake. I once read that drinking a lot of water reduces the cramping. It also helps flush some of it out quicker, it seems like. Or maybe my body is just designed to not have bad cramps. I don't know the reason. I drink water and tea, and I have to use the bathroom more often than usual, but the cramps are very manageable. There have only been a few times where it hurt really really bad, and on those days, I didn't drink enough water. After chugging some, the pain went away shortly.

That’s where the comparison is terrible. He wasn’t downplaying it, she was. Yeah she was feeling the same pain but downplayed it. If the man wanted to down play it he probably could’ve very easily. We often like to focus on the fact that women feel pain therefore have a higher capacity for tolerance than men, but we often forget the absurd lengths men have gone to accomplish tasks while sometimes missing chunks of their body (ww2 is filled with a lot horrific injuries that soldiers have tolerated to get the job done on all sides of the war) just look at John basilone and what he did on Guantanamo bay. He burnt the skin off his hands down to the bone carrying a m1917 mg bc he lost his glove and didn’t have time to complain. Carrying it up and down a hill for 3 days straight and no rest. Also with no boots. Most men can’t do this, but all the women who go on about how tough they are for tolerating period cramps…well they aren’t as tough as they would like to think. Edit: I’m not saying women can’t do any of this. I’m just saying, women tolerate the pain bc they are forced to in their lives. Similarly, when men are forced to tolerate pain they will march through life ending injuries. Both are capable of down playing and ignoring severe pain.

And it still wouldn't be enough. Just FYI, there are many genetic conditions that cause severe, life-altering pain during mentstruation, one is called Endometriosis. It's when the cells that make up the uterus in a developing fetus migrate away from the uterus and implant in other parts of the body. Those uterine cells behave like the uterus, so once a girl begins menstruating, they bleed, just as much as the uterus. As I'm sure you gather, we're not supposed to bleed into our abdomens. So, our bodies produce scar tissue as a result of the bleeding. This happens all throughout our bodies, but particularly, the scar tissue adheres our organs to each other. This bleeding into the abdomen happens every month, for a week at a time, for decades. This is only ONE genetic condition. And the conservative estimate is 10% of all women worldwide. It's an estimate because it can only be diagnosed through surgery. The average age of diagnosis is 36, because women are ignored almost to death in every aspect of medical 'care' in the U.S. and elsewhere. So, yes, it CAN really be that bad, I almost lost a kidney to Endometriosis. The scar tissue knocked one of my 2 ureters out of alignment and caused kidney failure so bad that I was a few days away from total kidney failure before emergency surgery saved me. I had every, single textbook symptom of Endometriosis and even going into surgery, the 2 surgeons suspected everything else but this extremely common condition. This is ONE condition. There are MANY others. So, while your employees will have different experiences, there are far too many women who are forced to work and go to school through the pain, diarrhea, nausea, debilatating pain, fatigue, etc.

It makes other changes in the body. Embarrassing things can happen visibly and dramatically. And yes it can absolutely be that bad. Most women with whom I've worked, won't ask to leave work just because of the pain alone. When something so very embarrassing and personal and unavoidable happened to me at work, in the eye of my associates and or clients/customers and or boss - I might be so devastated, I would start looking for a new crew, who has never seen me that way.
@jem9978
@jem9978 Год назад
Your attempt to understand is so appreciated and I'm sure your employees appreciate it even moreso. There should be more of that in this world. Yes my dude, it can really be that bad. Periods vary in severity from woman to woman and even from period to period, but here is what my typical experience is like. Dealing with symptoms takes up two weeks out of every month. Two weeks. No, I'm not exaggerating. It starts with feeling utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally. This is the worst part of it for me personally. It comes with general discomfort and trouble concentrating as well, so that my performance in whatever it is I"m doing, as judged by myself, goes down during this time. Breasts become tender and sore to the touch. There's usually some lower back pain and sometimes some early cramping without blood during this time as well. Then up come the repressed emotions, like anger, sadness, etc. All the emotions that were buried to keep the peace or for whatever other reason come up and have to be dealt with. Then the more acute physical pain starts. Sorry to get graphic here, but there's a feeling like you're being stabbed in the anus and labia with a sharp knitting needle. Some women call this "butt lightning". Cute, eh? Some women experience it during PMS like myself, and some throughout the cycle. Again, this can even vary from period to period. Imagine having to carry on a conversation with your coworkers while you're experiencing getting stabbed in the anus with a sharp object. And it just comes out of nowhere. Then comes the process that gets most of the attention - menstruation. This is usually preceded by lower back pain and migraines that last into the first days of menstruation itself, all accompanied by bleeding that can be shockingly heavy at times, but that usually lightens up after day 2 or 3 and ends around day 5-7. The exhaustion is usually at a high the day before and first day of bleeding. The painful feeling of your uterus lining shredding itself apart (this can be felt separate from cramping), muscle cramping, bloating, overall physical discomfort and tension characterize this time frame. And then you have to deal with the utter mess of it all - toilet bowl filling with blood while you're sitting on it, changing out whatever product you've chosen to deal with the flow, blood stains on clothing, sheets, bath towels. Then there's period poo - which, I think I'll spare you the details of. Things are loosened up down there during this time... I'm sure you can use your imagination. Then, you have to carry on as best you can like none of this is happening. You still have to go to school and/or work, take care of others, and deal with the unfairness of not having extra sick time to deal with this "condition" that the other half of the population doesn't have to. You sometimes have to deal with lack of empathy or understanding from both men and women. You get to experience this month after month, year after year starting from, in my case, the age of nine- until your 50's. Then begins the fun of menopause which is a whole other ball of wax, but by then you can't wait for even that, because you're so tired of having to deal with the pain of a period.

I consider my period as mild compared to most other women and it's still a health risk in the sense that you're so used to abdominal pain that you underestimate when something more dangerous is the underlying cause. When I had to get my appendix taken out and the pains got really bad I still stayed home for like half the night before going to the hospital because I figured "oh well my period is just coming in a lil aggressively this month". The only reason I went was because I hadn't began to bleed after several hours so that was a hint, imagine you're someone who starts their period 24hours after the pain begins. It’s just a tens unit. They’re made to increase blood flow to painful areas to help with pain. Ironically enough though they can also cause an increase in pain until the oxygen increase kicks in.

"It's going down in my legs..." Um, yeah. Periods do that.
@inthelandofmorethansmall7582
@@mcrchickenluvr Yeah Oxygen does help with pain (on paper - but not often in real life)... But these aren't the exact same as Tens Units. Yes, they work the same but you can't take a regular Tens Unit and use that. These are Tens Units that have been adapted to Levels similar to Period Pain. Then they have some for Labor Pains. But your standard Tens Unit that you get for your Sciatica or your Baseball Shoulder or your Tennis Elbow... You can't go up to a "3" on those and compare it to a "3" on these.
@inthelandofmorethansmall7582
I'm actually quite impressed with the Cowboy and how well he handled it. I used one once (Cramp Simulator) and even "10" wasn't as bad as my Cramps have been. I've also used a "Labor Simulator" but the levels on it were actually somewhat comparable. I'd even go so far as to say that the "Labor Simulator" may be worse than actual Labor. (And no I didn't have any drugs when I had my 3 kids - and they were all 3 large 8- 9lb babies. So I do actually know what L&D feels like all the way up to the end. )

@@inthelandofmorethansmall7582 After years of excruciating pain, I finally found a doctor who would do a hysterectomy. During my pre-op evaluation, I had cramps. And, as I had with every other doctor, I was Lamaze breathing and answering between cramps, applying pressure, trying to find the right nerve to deaden the pain. But she could tell how much pain I was in and that I wasn't able to focus, or speak easily. And she goes "Have you always had contractions with your periods?" And I go. "you mean cramps?" "No no, honey. MOST women get cramps. But you're clearly having contractions. It's rare but some women get contractions with their cycle. You're basically having labor pains every time you're like this." I was 36 and no doctor in my life had ever considered that I wasn't just being a whimp about my cramps or trying to score painkillers or get out of school. So once or twice a year (though all cycles were bad) it'd be so bad I'd go into shock, vomit up my painkillers, and pass out. I'd go to the ER to get IV meds but they'd always grill me and make me take 2-3 drug tests before they'd take me seriously that I was REALLY in the ER for "cramps". Now I know I was in the ER because I was having contractions. Which is a PERFECTLY NORMAL THING for someone having contractions to do!

this reminds me when I have appendicitis during my period, I told my friends that the cramps were a lot more intense than my regular period, it felt like the area around my lower abdomen was being scratched by a knife, but I don't make a big deal out of it (because I'm usually not able to walk during period cramps anyway) until that same night, I vomited nonstop, kept coming to bathroom to vomit. I also have additional pain around my stomach area. A friend took me to ER because period symptoms can't be this bad. After taking a CT scan, a nurse said I needed to be operated right away in the morning. After the surgery, the nurse wanted to check if there is "bleeding" in my pee after the surgery, but it is impossible due to my heavy period. I told this story to my female friends and now everyone is freaking out when they have really bad cramps. Yes, period cramps are this bad to the point that most women can't even differentiate its pain vs other pain. Sometimes, this pain is normal to us. I like how you had to skip over the biological description of the effects of menstruation I gave. Because you can't "balance" that with your hilariously awful fantasies. Riddle me this, what is joy without sadness? What is dark without light What is healthy without unhealthy? What is love without hate? What is good without bad? Balance means being right in the centre, towards no extreme. Hate and Love are two opposite extremes. Same for Joy and Sad. True "balance" would be feeling neither joy nor sadness, neither hate nor love. Take your factually baseless bullshit elsewhere weirdo.

I wonder if this is any different than the labor simulators. On a side note, personal pain management is a very interesting thing. I’ve had a lot of interesting conversations with people about menstrual pains, and childbirth, and I’ve given birth seven times and had two miscarriages. People say “you must have a high pain tolerance” as if pain must not hurt me. But the truth is pain endurance is almost entirely cerebral. An under appreciated element in pain management is the power of leaning into it instead of desiring to escape it.

They are up too high on the abdomen to have the same effect. I have pain in my vagina as well as my LOWER abdomen. That guy touched the sensors around his belly button. They should put them where the pain actually comes from on the groin area and on the lower back. That'll show them exactly how it feels!!

The true test was when I worked as a Union Carpenter and could barely stand let alone do hard physical labor but I couldn't talk about what was wrong because it would have been considered inappropriate. No one would believe me when I told them I thought they were worse than a lot of other girls/women I knew, including doctors. Later on, when I was in my 30's, I ended up getting a hysterectomy because of endometriosis. They also found tumors in my uterus - called adenomyosis, which causes severe bleeding and pain. I asked if I could have had that from the very beginning and they said yes and that it was a miracle that I had children. (I have 2 daughters). I felt vindicated and wished I could go back in time to thumb my nose at all those who literally called me an hysterial female, who just wanted attention.

The first was when I was having a sleepover with my former best friend, and I had only just had my period a few times. It was AWFUL, though as a very stubborn individual who didn't want to make a scene, I pushed through without letting on that I was dying inside. The most memorable time was about two years ago. Oh God. It was hell. I was breaking out into cold sweats, I was trembling, gasping, gritting my teeth, on the verge of throwing up. When we got home I stumbled onto my bed, where I curled up into a weak ball and tried to sleep it off. I usually avoid medication, but this was so bad that when my mom said I needed to take some ibuprofen, I didn't argue one bit, I just accepted them desperately. After about an hour of agonizing misery, it started to fade, and I was left absolutely exhausted. Had to hurry back to the truck to get some rest, but later it kept going from there. I was also just white as a sheet a couple months later, sweating, and stuck in bed just throwing up. I couldn't even eat anything for a bit and had to start taking pain killers after that. They weren't lying when they say it is an utter bitch, and I would also give that a go to know what level I'm at now for the pains.

There's no shame on the cowboy right now its like taking a chicken and a lion and saying its fair because she experienced it he hasn't.

Honest to God I don't understand why menthink women aren't though. Like you see this cowboy twisting and turning in his seat and then this queen that can go about her every day life whe she feels tge same amount of pain. I swear to god that women are just built different, and men and society in general treats them like they are these fragile and helpless things when truly, they are bad bitches that could take over the world any time they want.

Wow... you unironically sound no better than an incel. Men have said and done sexist shit, but that doesn't give women the right to say the crap you just did.

now do it again but instead of a "period pain simulator", get a pro boxer to hit them with a liver shot

That one time I almost fainted during test in class. Back then I was in my last year of high school, I remember it was the first day of my period. It was unlike the usual pain, I swear! I felt so weak, no strength to even lift my head, slumped on my desk, pale as a sheet, dripping with cold sweat (my uniform shirt was damp already). My classmates wondering what the heck is going on with me because I looked like I'm on the verge of death or something lol. Meanwhile my deskmate silently took my answer sheet and helped me to fill them (such a sweetheart 😭). I can't even answer clearly when they asked me because I had trouble breathing (enduring the pain), but another friends just come over and helped to assist me to walk to the parking lot waiting for my pick up. Don't know what happened but it's much much better now! Cramps almost never happen again, only the occasional pain in the lower spine/tailbone during the first 1-2 days of periods. I don't want to experience those painful cramps ever again, I wish it stay crampless like this forever! 😤

At least the guy reacted very positively. Him keeping his approachable nature is more than what I can do when I have my cramps.

I once had cramps so bad I thought my appendix had burst or something 😂 I was convinced I was either gonna die or visit the ER but they got better with an Advil and a heating pad

That's a strong man right there, impressive. Hell my periods are fairly light, I don't get them every month (health reasons), and I rarely get real cramps. But I remember when I first started, when I was 12. I had cramps so bad at times I legit couldn't walk or speak. They'd make me sickly pale and nauseous. Imagine being only 12 and having to experience that, and being told I'd have to endure that till I was 50 or older. I also had a friend that on more then one occasion would pass out or throw up from her cramps, at school. She started her periods when she was only 10. And they've put her in the hospital. So I definitely appreciate that this is a thing that can happen now, where men specifically can get some level of the experience of what it feels like. So the understanding and just the knowledge is there... the fact that the pain and cramps is only part of it too.

No. He is not. This isn't happening to him in childhood. It's not happening to him every hour on the hour, every day for a week. It's not causing him unlivable nausea. It's not happening every month of his life. It's not happening to him while he's in school. While he's being made to run around a track. While he's taking a test. While he's working. While he's driving home and trying not to pull over because the pain is so bad he can't see. So, no. He is not "a strong man." He's a somewhat good sport for doing something he smiled through for this extremely short amount of time.

@A. L. Nihn Relax, breathe. I am a woman too. I agree with you. I meant in this particular moment. Not in general or his whole life. I am a gay woman with a severe prejudice against men, in genral. He is being strong here, regardless of what you think. Most men get to 2 with these things, and are withouring, sweating, shouting just piles of weakness on the floor. Your personal opinion does not change mine. But you're welcome to continue operating like your opinion is the only one that matters. Doesn't bother me at all 🤷🏽‍♀️
