I just want to let you know that you changed my life!!..I watched your video in 2019, beginning of Covid, I suddenly got unbearable nerve pain in my one foot and doctors and neurologists had no idea why this was happening!!...I quit all sugar and drinking, went strict carnivore for 2 years and allowed my body to heal!!..so thank you 😊

I noticed numbness in my feet and fingers about a year ago. I've been a heavy drinker since my 20s until now in my early 40s. I didn't put it to together that alcohol could be the culprit until about 6 months ago. Now I'm taking b vitamins and started limiting my drinking more hoping to find a healthy balance. I still have the symptoms, no pain or pins and needles, just slight numbness. I think I may have to completely stop drinking to see results, and hope that mine is not permanent. Thanks for the info, I bet this happens way more commonly than we think, people just ignore the slight numbness or don't talk about it.

To this day it’s there but barely! I only have alcohol on weekends and only beer at that. I went 9 months of stone sober and is during that time that this improved the most. Nerves grow/repair at a very slow rate but only if the environment is suitable. Good luck!

Dude.... That happened to me and I kept drinking. Very bad move on my part. My feet got worse and worse. Now the numbness and pain make it very hard to walk. 3 years sober. Get sober as soon as you can. Smoke weed if you have to but stop drinking.

I’m a big fan of a multi faceted approach, as you have done. Drugs only mask & don’t work.

Hope you're stil doing well since your video. Your story is so close to mine it's crazy. I stopped drinking on the weekends and got better and better over a year. I also used r-alpha lipoic acid which I think helped the most. Good luck and thanks for sharing your story.

Glad u sorted I am in trouble. My parents were very ill and died in last 3 years and I drank to sleep and survive. 2 beers and a scotch but every night for 3 years. No alcohol for a month and tons supplements. No improvement at the moment. Having lots of tests. I have never drunk much in my life. Neurologist advised it’s the regular drinking that MAY be the cause.. it’s the regularity that causes the damage she says. Tried low carbs for a month too no effect just hoping time can help. I so crave a drink because of the pain, hoping I can stay sober. I cant sleep and gives me bad anxiety

Alcohol is not good for it at all...but I do drink a little bit still. Excess is definitely bad.

Thanks very much. There isn't a lot of info out there. Much of the expert advice is judgemental about drinking habits. Your talk is factual without moralising. For the first time (for me), someone talking about this in a relatable way. I just have tingles but already cut my drinking 80-90% because this is terrifying.

It’s been a few years since I posted this video, and although I’ve still got minor issues, they never worry me. I’ve made drinking habit modifications as well as sleeping changes that help. Maybe I’ll post an update to this information. I still feel that the best therapy for me at that time was acupuncture.

I have the exact symptoms that you describe. It began with a feeling a numbness in my toes, particularly at night. Now it has affected my ability to walk, and I have to use a stick now when out walking. I am type 2 diabetic and my blood sugar is high most days, usually in double figures ie high teens to low twenties. I also drink alcohol most days to eliminate Stress, because I am under so much of it right now. Is this Lipoic Acid any good to help me lower my sugar levels?
@chrishamilton3740

That is one of the reported benefits of ALA.
@halfbloodandstrong9516

No its not, youll need to get your hba1c below 5,7. Learn about low carb. Also alcohol wont help you in healing. Maybe a beer or two is oke, but too much alcohol will cause problems.

Do you have an occasional beer or have you stopped completely and is it expensive to do the acupunture ?
@chrishamilton3740
@chrishamilton3740 Год назад
I have beer or wine on occasion and in low moderation and it is ok but it took a long while of abstinence from alcohol. The acupuncture treatments run about $50/session here. Immediate improvement for me. 2-3 sessions is all that was needed. Good luck!
