+Despised every time the description fails there's ALWAYS a dedicated fan somewhere near the top of the comments to help out for those of us who lost our sd cards....+1
Embersword I legitimately misread this as “This is honestly one of the best animes of all time” ... I think the universe is trying to tell me something.
@@eldiablo7277 I always wanted to, especially P2 and the Juggernauts. I've written some stuff some time ago inspired by Periphery (and other djent bands), maybe someday if I ever get the chance
Still to this day I return to listen to the album that completely changed my life. These songs got me through very tough times. And continue to spark something deep within my being that gives me clarity when I need it the most. Thank you Periphery for this gift.

This is the most important metal album of the modern era, and I don't feel that is up for debate. This album changed everything, for everybody in the genre. Production, how to record modern music, the guest spots, the moments on the album, I could go on all day with reasons why this is objectively the most important single modern metal album. The more I learn about production, mixing, arrangement, composition, etc. in metal, the more this album's importance is made even clearer.
I remember sitting in my bed on a Saturday morning with my shitty HP laptop that barely ran, browsing RU-vid and just randomly clicking on this. My 8th grade mind was blownnnnnnnnnn. This album got me into this genre and has helped my drumming grow and be what it is today. The nostalgia is real.
+BT Studio Productions Absolutely agree. That solo is definitely one of the high points of musical achievement in the history of ears. Easily my favorite solo of all time.
I remember listening to this the day it came out. Couldn't take my headphones off all day, I met one of my best friends of all time that day and he thought I was a total asshole. Now he understands what an epic journey I was entrenched in.
This album lyrically, musically, and thematically, beats anything they've ever done since. Period. It's just one of the most important metal albums ever, man.
Sacredgeometry I agree. But I do think Clear is pretty solid. However I can only get into a couple songs on Juggernaut, and as far as III goes, I only like Remain Indoors.
@@ryansadauskis IV is gonna give II a run for its money. I guarantee it, and you can fact check that by coming back here once it drops in a few weeks :p
I didn't get my hands on this band untill the p4 release. I listened to animals as leaders and had no idea who Misha was. Needless to say I'm inspired and utterly floored. This band is unbelievable.
This is most definitely one album that can be played from start to finish without skipping a single second! I still listen to this like it came out today! I hoping for a ten year anniversary tour for this masterpiece
@@kenshiku Progressive metal (sometimes known as prog metal) is a fusion genre melding heavy metal and progressive rock that combines the loud "aggression" and amplified guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter. Any confusion?
Periphery has a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy. Half the people arguing in the comments cant even play in instrument, your points therefore hold very little value. If you are a musican of any kind you would understand how things work for example: Spencers vocals be it his cleans or screams blend into the songs so well and they are fitting for what is being played in the songs.
Think saying people who don't play an instrument have an opinion of 'little value' is pretty risky! However I agree that as an instrumentalist there's probably more appreciation for what they're able to compose. Whether I would enjoy it as much if I didn't play the guitar, it's hard to tell. Playing along is fucking hard sometimes though!
no i totally understand that. What i ment by that is that if someone who simply listens to music would have a more bias opinion toward any music compared to someone who plays an instrument or composes etc. A musician knows how certian things work and how much time to takes to fromulate a song where as a regualr listener can only compare things to others bands or people they know.
***** They do. I play bass since 2003, and I like to listen to music I cannot play. Periphery, some Dream Theater songs, Meshuggah. By time music gets complicated the simple ear of a non-musician is getting bored. This band is cooler than I thought. The only thing I don't really enjoy is the growl in the songs, but I will get used to them ;)
I am glad you all are smart about advertising for your bands on here. Had this video not been here, I would have never even heard of Periphery let alone be able to sample the album enough to make a decision to buy it. Thank you - I am definitely picking this one up :)
P1 made me a fan, P2 is when they became my favorite. Every album is fire but this one still holds onto my all time favorite track, Luck as a Constant!
Ragnarok is an absolute monster. When that part builds up to that massive breakdown, I almost shit myself. I don't know how Periphery will ever top this album. It is truly unbeatable.
This album is a masterpiece. I've been listening to it for three years and its been sending me to another world every time. Its incredible how in depth it makes me think. Genius.
That's so wild. I was in my early twenties when this album came out and I also showed little interest. Took me a few years to realize how incredible it is.
You and your old man both got great taste. I was 14 when this album dropped, and I learned about it from my step-brother. Periphery has been in my top 5 bands of all time for a decade now.
I keep coming back to this album. Along with both Juggernauts. Because of the simple fact that these albums are quite possibly the best metal records I've heard in YEARS!!!
Despite all the douches claiming that Juggernaut isn't ya know, "metal enough", I firmly believe it to be one of the best records I've heard in quite a while
+Caleb Willis Thank fuck I'm not the only one who thinks that - the only prog metal album in this decade i've seen come close is Citadel by Ne Obliviscaris
this is one of my favorite albums ever the interludes make me feel so introspective ,the heavy parts, the soft parts, the wirting ,the mixing the albums having almost a chorus of its own throughout i fucking love this shit right here fam
I still remember when this came out a little bit before the album released I was working for a lawn business and I bought the cd the day it came out when we finished that day..nostalgia is real😂
Everytime someone asks me my favorite Periphery song, I give the same answer everytime. PII start to finish. My favorite individual song of all their discography may not be on this album, but this album flows into its own chapters so fluently that it’ll always be a single song to me.
Salad Dressing Been there maan.. shit its fucking awesome. I've spent about fucking 2 hours learning the first riff at full speed, but I can compare playing it to masturbating. Seriously.
This whole CD is incredible. There isn't a song I don't like and it is brilliantly put together. Furthermore, these guys are so damn humble and down to earth. I really admire this band. They are real and keep it that way.
@@nuttguzzler4945 sumerian imo has a lot of"exciting bands" I.e. some banger breakdowns most of the kids skip to, but the faceless hands down is the only band that takes their music seriously anymore tbh. Everyother band seems content witgproducing mediocre deathcore or metalcpre until that well dries up,
Without doubt Periphery's best album. Curious how it also has this very unique sound compared to their other work. The tracklisting, sound, lyrics and how the songs transition into each other so swiftly...everything about this album is perfection.
I completely agree. This is peak periphery. I wish I knew music theory to figure out why this album is so much better than anything they put afterwards. Besides the clear ep, everything since has been consistently worse...
You probably just like the way it is mastered/arranged, they have similar sounding tracks on other albums as well. Follow Your Ghost on Hail Stan sounds like a track straight from Alpha/Omega, etc. They have tracks all over from any year
Periphery: they seem to have influence of Death (band), Dream Theater, Faith no more, Incubus, 30 seconds to mars, killswitch engage, And 80s/90s melodic hard rock (a.o.r), Alternative rock, Pop punk, electronic, clasical music, jazz and spanish music. Wow!!
That part got me hooked too when I first bought the album and heard that driving home, one of my favorite parts on this album. I, too, wish that part was longer. These guys are really talented.

SPONCE MATT MARK JAKE I JOKE THEY ARE THE GODLIEST PEOPLE TO EVER WALK THE FACE OF THE EARTH!
They're way better with Spencer. He's, hands down, the best vocalist this band has had. Though, his uncleans do remind me of Nick Xourafas'.. (Former Structures frontman) p.s. I loved Nick when he was in Structures.
Yeah well that's just like, your opinion man. Whenever I hear him sing "Off in the distance we can see shining clear our demise to be, we're not listening to ourselves" I get chills. Love him or hate him, he has major talent and a lot of people don't think his tone is garbage.
