Definitely Satellites next. I haven't made up my mind what is the best song on this album, but Reptile, Satellites, Garden in the Bones, Blood Eagle and It's Only Smiles are top contenders (I know, I just mentioned half of the album).
YEEEEEEEES! It's so damn good to see someone have the same reaction as me to this masterpiece. I feel like that's why people watch reaction videos. None of my friends like metal. I have to find a feeling of community by other means. It's frustrating having people around you who just doesn't get why songs like these are a big deal.
Me neither. Everyone I know listens to country and rap and fucking lady Gaga, and when I show what few friends I have that actually listen to rock or metal they’re just like “uhh it’s too heavy, what is he saying”. So I agree with you. Songs like these bring up a wide range of emotions for me and I can’t share em with anyone else because they just don’t understand. This is really the only type of music that has actually brought me to tears or given me chills (especially periphery). So I feel you man. I’ve tried showing people some songs and they either don’t listen or whatever. It is what it is, they’re missing out lol
I feel you man. I don’t know many people who like this kind of music and sometimes I want to see if I share the same reactions that I had when listening to music
Bacon Man Periphery is one of those bands where it’s actually really easy to make out what Spencer is saying. I mean it’s not like they’re suicide silence. If they really say they like metal then they would get that.
Funny you mention Stranger Things. Periphery has a song titled Stranger Things that come out before the show. It is a great track and amazing to listen through.
This entire album is just showcasing Spencer's incredible vocal range and variety. This album, to me, is Reptile, and the rest is Reptile pt 2. Besides Satellites, that just caps off the album so beautifully!
You should check out The Contortionist if you haven't already, specifically the album language. If you were going to react to them: language part I and II back to back in one video.
Yes! So glad you did it 🤘🤘 the seeds are sown....now your one of us lol definitely react to their other stuff, itll get people over to your channel for sure 👍 veil of maya are a good band aswell if you havent heard them, also thats mikee goodman from the band Sikth that does that narration also a great band that influenced periphery and the Djent movement, spencer does guest vocals on their song “cracks of light” awesome song you should react to
Definitely check out Monuments, Skyharbor, Erra, Veil Of Maya, Textures and Tesseract to name a few bands that are just kickass in general. Great video man.
Cool stuff man. Periphery is probably my favorite group. I found you through the numerous times I look them up haha. Subbed looking forward to seeing how this channel grows!
Mmm.. do love me some guitar solos, and 12 minutes into this video it was pretty sweet, and I liked the transition into strings there too. This is a very adventurous song. There was a heck of a lot to appreciate in this song even though I'm a guy who dislikes metal screams. Cool recommendation.
If there was a band to get you into screams, it would be these guys. Craziest vocal diversity and range I've ever heard from one person. Definately check out some of their less screamy stuff though: Absolomb, Satellites, Scarlet, Lune
Yo! I really enjoy your takes on the various parts of the songs and I like that we gel on the same parts (that rock n roll riff early on is so small but it's such a great part regardless). I normally despise reaction channels but you seem like a really chill dude so this has been nice haha. If you're up for toning it down just a tad, I'm curious if you'd be interested in listening to some Coheed and Cambria. Like Periphery, they're proggy, but not quite as heavy. They've got two 9 minute songs on their second album (21:13 and The Light And The Glass) which are trips on their own, and they have plenty of great tracks recently, too (Domino the Destitute and The Dark Sentencer are great). The whole band is centered around a graphic novel the vocalist writes, so it's all written like a big space opera. It's great fun! As for Periphery, if you're interested in continuing, Rainbow Gravity, MK Ultra, Motormouth, Habitual Line Stepper, and Prayer Position are all brutal bangers. Highly recommend.
Thanks for the kind words and all of the suggestions! I really appreciate that. I'll be sure to check some of these out. I think Coheed would be a great band to do some reactions to. I absolutely loved Unheavenly Creatures, and there's a bunch of their older stuff that I haven't heard that I am super curious about now.
@@davereacts131 Oh nice! I'm glad you've listened to them before! In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth is a fantastic album, I highly recommend. Keep up the good work!
Hey man great video!. This song really is a banger. I love progressive metal, so the length of the song along with all the different switch ups through the song was awesome. If you wanna get into some prog stuff, I'd highly suggest slice the cake. Hasn't been many people that have done videos on them, but the ones that have usually start with, Stone and silver Part one - The mountain of man. Its from their concept album called Odyssey to the west. One of the best albums I've ever heard, I don't think you'll be dissapointed man.
Great video, appreciate your honesty, I don't think anyone could fully analyze and perceive this song with only 1 listen. You should maybe try Animals as Leaders' Aepirophobia or The brain Dance next, they are instrumental and a bit less saturated than periphery's songs, hope you like it if you do listen to them!
Dave! Loved the reaction. You have to do "garden in tge bones" next. As Reptile and it share the same riff. And even the lyrics from reptile... "soil we own", is the underlying theme for garden in the bones. Also "follow your ghost" is amazing!!!
+1 for all the Satellites recommendations, that track is incredible. Also going to recommend checking out Uneven Structure, similarly epic band with great musicianship
I think it's too early for you to hear Satellites, you should listen to more of their older stuff before hearing what is possibly their best song. You mentioned a classic rock guitar sound early in the song, and I thought I was hearing that too, even though I know very little about music. Cool.
Satellites is great or luck as a constant for moreold school. Otherwise I'd recommend anything from the Contortionist, the Language or their newer song Early Grave
Maybe you could try some instrumental stuff.Von Citizen is a good choice. They play some incredibly beautiful melody over the heavy sound of djent riff. The song called Mechanic(feat. Olly Steele from Monuments) is a great one to react.
