I think it depends where you live... It seems extremely difficult to get parts for them in North America... I would stick to a yanmar or Kubota if possible. Probably a different story in Europe for parts though. Finding parts for a 4.108 in Canada hasn't been fun.
The parts are really not that hard to find in the US. I was able to find numerous sources, mostly midwest,and eastern seaboard. Reasonable prices on rebuild kits. Just finishing up one for our sawmill.
Could also just be because when you pull the gas lever on the injection pump it takes some time before the engine gets up to speed so the combustion gets too rich at this time span, causing it to smoke.
