"But again, this is a budget car". LOL, exactly. I think people need to calm their tits on how some features on Ativa aren't comparable to other import SUVs, or Proton X50 at least, because it's meant as a budget SUV in the first place. All in all, it's a huge leap of faith by Perodua. It's applaudable. And very unbiased review from Hafriz, good job there!
This guy's review never disappoint. Really tells me what I wants to know. And having driven one myself in a short test drive session, I completely agree with ALL of his 1 hour-long points pointed out! Paduuu
Terbaik wei review, review yg paling detail setakat ni. Aku dah tengok video channel lain, setakat ni video komen paling jujur n semua side dia komen. Keep it up!
Been really considering this car. Now I have all that I need and it adjusts my expectations accordingly. Great review. Just one feedback. Would be great to have closed captions in Bahasa Melayu for those who would prefer that. It's a much smaller task than to reshoot everything in BM but will go a long way to attract more viewers and to make it the go-to review for all things Ativa.
there are 3 versions of Paultan videos; in english, chinese & BM. although Hafriz might not be doing the video in BM, the malay (normally a malay) presenter/reviewer is good enough having BM or chinese subtitles for english version & having BM or english subtitles for chinese version & having english or chinese subtitles for BM version defeat the purpose of having 3 separate video versions they might as well do away with chinese & BM video versions if the english video has both the chinese & BM subtitles
on 2nd thought, i reckon it is better if Paultan sticks to only one version i.e. in english malays or chinese who like Hafriz's style of presentation but are not well versed in english can still understand the video by reading the subtitle
Watching from Indonesia. Cheers for your amazing review! Very disappointed that our highest class of Rocky/Raize still far from Perodua Ativa, but with MUCH HIGHER price (Raize GR TSS, highest of any Rocky/Raize lineup, is maybe about 8-9K MYR higher than Ativa AV). Even Rocky only have 2 airbags all the way to the highest class! We envy you guys for getting such quality and quantity from that point of price.
I thought the X50 video panjang already, rupe2nye video Ativa pun panjang... Review mcm ni kita nak, telus dan neutral.. xmcm satu page tu, sampai skrg bitter tak boleh terima hakikat gabungan Proton dan Geely...
I am still using Kembara year 2000 and it's dying, this car really impressed me in first impression. But this video help me to know more about it and im a bit skeptical now mainly about the FWD. Overall this is a really good video. Keep up the good work
Thanks Hafriz for that comprehensive review👍, nobody can do it BETTER, bro. Honest and didn't hold back...direct tembak on the shortcomings and compliments where credits are due. Way to go, bro👍
First of all why does this guy thinks that 76k car peoples car will have the same quality as his x70 and X50? We dont care that its not as plush as your c300 coupe we just want a reliable and cheap to run car. Perodua is making cars for the people not for the rich and famous. Btw still love your review Hafriz.
Yup true what u say, 70k is a bargain for what it offer, and its just 71k not 76k, its offer alot of safety features actually. Good start for perodua actually
because it's 25-30k more than a myvi. And myvi is cheaper to run and more reliable and more spacious(according to majority). why pay more for same quality? for half baked safety systems? for fancy lights?
Yea no, this guy was being unbiased and calling out the faults. Your mindset is what leads to car companies being complacent and bringing out bad quality cars because people don’t care. This car costs RM71K which is around the median household income of Malaysia. That’s right, it basically costs what an entire household makes in a YEAR - definitely not a “cheap car” but it a good value product. Nevertheless, it absolutely should not have grammatical errors in the infotainment system (the bare minimum) and it should include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which is basically standard in cars around the world now. As for the fit and finish, yea it is pretty bad and they could have worked on it. Just because the materials is cheap doesn’t mean the fit and finish has to be cheap as well. As for the engine, yea it is quite underpowered - come on, >100 horsepower in 2021??? You have Toyota Corollas (which is basically an everyday man’s car) coming out with 139 horsepower engines from a N/A engine! Other than that, it is a good value car.
great bargain, yes. But don't think it's definitely a better buy from Yaris, especially. It depends on what do you prioritize. Powertrain and undercarriage refinement level, comfort and interior build quality and material are still behind Yaris. Of course, if you prioritize the latest technologies and spec, especially the ACC, yea Ativa is a no brainer.
@@xmenlingcheehuat0811 to me it is a better buy from yaris. This ativa has all the new and greatest tech from toyota such as the Tnga/Dnga platform and also not to mention the latest powertrain from daihatsu which is absent in the toyota. I’m not trying to be biased or whatsoever but the ativa interior built quality and design is farrrrrrrrrrr better than what you get in the yaris/vios... All these stuff and still being almost 20K cheaper, to me this is is better buy
Super awesome review Love the features but the car feels basic even with all the bells and whistle Tried it lastweek and mostly i dont like the 3cyl engine,if only Perodua outfit that 1.5 4cyl engine
I enjoy this dude's comprehensive review and remarks which invariably describe a user's/driver wants and needs. Doesn't Perodua do a mule tests and invite pleasing experts like Hafriz, or any of us, to evaluate a prospective car's features and benefits?
Thanks for the detailed review! Sad hear that the acc is not good, and the engine is noisy. Nope, I think drl is super pointless in sunny Malaysia, couldn't care less for it
Cool Paultan and this is the most comprehensive review hafriz. As how X50 kacau market, Ativa do know how to counter offer it by focusing technology instead of build quality. So fancy2 do attract people, including myself. Quite frustrated to learn that the level 2 autonomous driving is not on par as honda sensing on civic and above or proton adas, but 30K differences is a huge one. If you could explain further why to take Ativa AV instead of X50 standard, I would appreciate it.
That's a tough one, actually. I'd take the Ativa AV for the complete safety features, but the X50 for its overall driving package and interior quality. Me personally, I'm glad I don't have to make that decision 🤣
@@hafrizshah4937 ur humor is getting better.... 😂 - tennis ball (this one is hilarious for me) - 1date only - tail gate not plastic to save weight Hahahahahah
Hi Paul,Great detailed and honest review for the buyer.Have you done such a review for the mazda cx9. Great support from Kenya, continue keeping it real
contrary to majority, i think the base spec is the right model to get. Once you feel in in person, you know that this is jacked up myvi. So paying slightly more than 10k plus for this sounds reasonable. Paying 70k plus for a car with build quality of a myvi does't sound like a good deal. At least if you pay 60k+, you can justify by saying it has more advanced engine and quieter and more comfortable. Also please stop comparing to X50. It's not even fair to both cars. different size, different power, different comfort, different build quality, different design quality, different technology, different country of made, different NVH, different handling, need i say more?
Perghh.. dekat 1jam.. sy main video ni kat tv, habis mandi & makan pun masih belum habis video.. 😅😅 kalau X50 susah nak dapat 12km/l mungkin beli Dmax 1.9L 2wd pilihan yg lebih bijak, Dmax 1.9L city drive boleh juga dapat 13-14km/l.. 🤭🤭🤭
Nice full details video. I did test drive and overview on this Ativa. can say that give and take.not really for those big size family or big body to drive this car. the space is limited, boot space although mention around 350L but feel very neat. small couple car but not for family. the plastic material feel cheap and too thin...overall 61-71k...for me i will say you can have better option.
On my way to bed at 11pm. Look at this video and suddenly dont realized its already 12am. "If you looking at the lowest or mid range x50 spec, you should really consider the ativa av variant" .that is someting to think about. Thanx Hafriz!!
Listening to Hafriz, I can almost imagine Doug DeMuro's talking albiet Hafriz's English is pretty much very Malaysia but how he uses stresses and his tone are similar to that of Doug DeMuro.
Nice, memang nak tahu perbezaan dari segi vibration 3 silinder ativa vs x50. video 54 min mmg padu abis. best lg kalau dia x ulang2 videoclip yg sama. camne dgn sparepart kete ni? x50 n x70 ada masalah sparepart lama nk dpt dari service centre.
Ikut pengalaman pakai model baru perodua sebelum ni, spare part yg common mcm brake pad dll xde mslh. Kalau yg agak mahal skit tu biasa pernah tunggu dlm 2-3 hari. Tp kebiasaannya dlm 2-3 tahun lepas lancar model baru, spare part perodua xde mslh nk cari even kt luar pun.
We know Perodua or at least the Ativa has stepped up its game when car reviewer is commenting for refinement, better ADAS, telescopic steering wheel, placement of hook, and some other things which are quite subjective.
We are voting with our wallets and would rather have this over other Malaysian cars regardless of the price. We absolutely had no hesitation coming out of the showroom with an order for the Ativa. I guess the proof would really be in how this little car does in the long term. It would not surprise me if the Ativa continues to be reliable and returns good residuals long after purchase when it comes time for the next new car.
I'd say Perodua has more holistic approach & sincerity in future cars than all other manufacturer in Malaysia. It doesn't skimp on any features i.e Proton Export model has more than local. Secondly the Japanese really trust Perodua to make Daihatsu better car in Malaysia. Even the engine is produced locally. You don't see Geely produce important high tech part in Malaysia, not mention other foreign players.
Nice review.... Pretty detailed... I may say.. No drama no fuss.... Keep it up sir... And your points on the choices of words used by the engineers........"setting"... Muahahahahahaha... Right on point!!!.... Malu la PERODUA ... Let's see whether PERODUA WILL react to it.... Or.... Just buat dunno aje.... Any bets guys?.... LOL....
May know how does its DRL or ADB works? when I turned on the engine the headlights weren't switched on at all (i put on auto mode) but sometimes it does. How do keep it on every time I'm driving, would love to do that
I would appreciate if you could do a video on the cruise control system as reading thru the quick reference book, the explanation is rather confusing, thank you
Very informative review, Hafriz! and sincerely said too. Quite upset with Perodua practice, keep delaying and holding back specification/features for next facelift launch. Totally lost of firsthand confident to own Activa for now, but to keep consumer waiting for upcoming facelift launch. Sad dowh.. Perhaps 1.3L or 1.5L engine will be good and hopefully will come with sunroof option too. I doubt they are good listener. We'll see..
if you said Ativa is expensive, please compare to Daihatsu Grand max. that is only square cabin van, 1.5 DVVT, 4 auto speed cost you RM86k. So i don’t think that is too high price.
Isn't this a Daihatsu copy? I always find that smaller engine revs higher and sounds harsher especially under acceleration. With a full load, 5 on board and a full boot, it must take a while to get out of trouble.
Very informative and helpful guide to process my thinking on cars. Would like to ask your kind opinion - comparing a new Ativa AV (~RM70,000) to a new Honda City Hatchback S (~RM75,000) which is better in terms of city driving to work, occasionally transporting bicycles and maybe use to fetch kids to school in the future. Which in your opinion would be the most suited? Thanks 🙏🙏
Great review. Can someone let me know how much more irratating is the engine noise level / vibrations being a turbo powered car on the scale of 1 to 10 compared to a myvi??
Add DRL, if spoil how? Replace whole headlamp? Or bring to some Zhao ah Beng accessories and kopek the cover just to repair the LEDs? troublesome. Not many Malaysians want it of even care it have or not. Rather have a cheap n reliable and car not easy to break down for daily usage as most of this will be someone's daily rides.
I scared things get spoiled, better don't drive car at all. Later scared what if tires explode, what if turbo explode, what if camera for ASA spoiled, what if battery kong.
