The hike to Perolniyoc Waterfall (Catarata Perolniyoc) is not difficult. The level of difficulty depends on how adjusted you are to the high elevation.
Depending on where you decide to start and end the hike, this hike can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours roundtrip.
We started at the official trail entrance on road 110, approx.15-20 minute drive from the town Pachar in the Sacred Valley, approx. 1.5 hours drive from Cusco.
We walked about 1 hour on a gradual incline, zig zagging our way up to the town of Socma. From there we walked another hour to the waterfall.
We walked the same way back, one hour to Socma. Then we took a colectivo (shared van, carpool taxi) down to the town of Pachar, approx. 15 minutes. This hike/taxi combination took us about 3.5 hours total.
Alternatively, you can walk from the town of Pachar to the trailhead. If you do this, you will pass by the Nuapa Iglesia ruins- a beautiful Inkan site high up in the caves.
Additionally, if you continue on the trail past the Perolniyoc waterfall, you will reach the ruins of Raqaypata. This would take about another hour.
All in all, this is a beautiful hike. The scenery throughout is peaceful and the waterfall itself is stunning. This should not be missed while exploring the Sacred Valley.
