Harmonically very intereseting. almost bitonal, of course the composer thought in modes rather than chord progressions. But still intersting dissonances like tritones und augmented and dimished 7s and 9s as well.

C'est tout bonnement incroyable.... À chaque fois que j'écoute ce chant, je me sens transportée par ces voix si mélodieuses qui me font oublier le monde extérieur. Je peux enfin me concentrer sur moi et sur ce qui compte vraiment. Si seulement tout le monde profitait de youtube pour venir lire et écouter ce chant plutôt que pour regarder des vidéos inutiles et peu constructives, le monde se porterait mieux. The "viderunt" marked at the end is a ds al fine, indicating that if the ensemble choose to, they can sing that bar and repeat the whole piece from the sign near the beginning. It's used to extend the performance length since some pieces such as this are sung at large church services in the catholic tradition and may need to be sung more than once through to fill the time
Thank you for an intriguing question, I had not noticed them! I just flicked through and the only pattern I can spot is that they're a way to show a (change in) time signature without interrupting the visual flow of notes, as a normal time signature would. The number gives the number of dotted crotchets in a bar, so 2 could be equivalent to 6/8, 3 equivalent to 9/8, 4 equivalent to 12/8 - or something else, if you'd like to choose a different denominator. I wonder if this reflects the way time signatures were given in the original score?
