Draw My Life Persephone! In todays video we are gonna tell you about Persephone, also known as Kore, a goddess in greek mythology. She was the goddess of vegetation and she brought fertility to the fields. But at the same time, she was the Queen of the underworld, and she carried out humans’ curses upon the souls of the dead. Through their stories, the greeks found an explanation to the phenomenon of the 4 seasons of the year. Do you wanna learn about it?

Ehh, the story depicting hades as the villain is not the only version. Hades was considered one of if not the most responsible gods. He’s after depicted as not evil but very strict. In other versions the fruit rule is there for all not just Persephone, and her eating of them was an accident. What this story leaves out is how hades had actually treated her as an equal. Placing a throne for her next to his, and even creating ellisium (greek heaven) at her request). The idea of hades as evil was a Christian interpretation as he fills a similar role as satan.

Yes! The only bad thing he really did was kidnap her, I'm still learning about Persephone though so I might be wrong but I don't think I am. He did love her in his own way.

He "Kidnapped" her because Demeter, Persephone's mother found out about Hades's plan to marry her daughter and wanted to turn her into a tree so she couldn't go in the underworld. When Hades heared about this he rushed to save his love from being turned into a tree:)) He is not the bad guy

Naisha Faith Well to be fair in Greek mythology gods and goddesses didn’t really see family like we do. So for them it wasn’t weird to marry their sibling or niece. I mean like it wasn’t strange or weird. I know it’s strange now but you have to remember back then what it was like. I agree they are goals because Hades loves Persephone so much and she loves him back. Also before anyone like says “Well that’s because you must’ve just read Lore Olympus but in real mythology blah blah blah” No. Remember there are different stories but Hades overall really let Persephone have like complete say in everything. Yes he did kidnap her but in some stories she was willing to go. Plus at the end she chose to stay with him but Demeter missed her so much.

@@Aj-ij1hf She did though, also she's the jealous type that transform anyone into plants if you try to flirt with her husband, she's also really cruel and scary that Heracles would rather deal with Hades than her. Hades the chillest Greek good, never cheats, fair and responsible. Also the underworld is not all gloom and dark since it's also where Elysium/Heaven in Greek mythology is.

Under her mother, she was treated as a child and kept in complete isolation, but with Hades, she was his equal, and he treated her with the utmost respect, to the point she loved him and even turned a nymph into a mint plant when the nymph was flirting with Hades.

@@majesticphoenix8357 oof go read the other versions of the myth, hades was a really good man to her and he treated her like a queen and made her a queen. She fell in love with him and he did whatever she asked. He isn't the worst god as they represent, the story making him a villain was mostly made by Christians as they represented hades as satan. Also incest was pretty normal and usual amongst gods and goddesses in greek mythology they are all related in some way

Another story about Persephone is the story of how we got mint. There are a lot of versions of this story, but I'll try to summarize them. There was a nymph named minth who was in love with Hades (some stories say they weren't having an affair while some say she was an ex lover). When persephone found out she was jealous and upset, so she turned her into a plant (some say that Demeter did it). There are other verisoins that say that Hades was mad at her so he turned her into dust, and from that dust grew the plant mint. Wanted to add another story where Zeus turnes into a snake and seduces Persephone. Aka his and his sister's daughter.

dear Konstantina Aggelopoulou, as someone who works with the Greek pantheon that isn't correct. the three biggest nature deities are Demeter: goddess of agriculture Pan: god of the wild Persephone: goddess of nature and spring and i'd like to say one thing, don't disrespect Persephone like that again.

Aside from the whole tricked and kidnaped thing, Hades an persephone had a pretty nice relationship. Also back then everyone kidnaped there future wifes. One more thing also, the original myth just had her find a way to the underworld and she just liked it there, hades just accepted it but her mother thew the tantrum of the century lol.
