One of the best visualisations of Perseverance's descent. With no reference point it can be difficult to visualise the speed and distance to the Martian surface. Awesome job, I would love to see this done with the Apollo landings.

I can’t seem to wrap my head around the landing. The ground details don’t seem to change too much from 6km up to when dust is visible kicking off. Still an amazing thing to be able to see happen!

Good example of the fractal nature of terrain.

_"One thing that I found remarkable was the self-similarity of the martian terrain. As the lander descends towards the ground it is hard to get a sense of scale, since there is no familiar frame of reference to tell us how far away the ground is. ..."_ I sure noticed that also. Had no idea the vehicle was that close to the surface until the rocket exhaust started kicking up dust -- and then I was still confused. Stupid fractal Mars.

So cool! This grants a ton of perspective to the landing!

This is awesome. While the scale is good, 10km from space with little reference is still hard to comprehend. Would be good to superimpose an airport, small town or globally universal landmark near the landing zone for perspective.

I wish it had shown the full landing to the end.

Would have been ideal if both perspectives were in the same orientation, but, fantastic none the less! Bravo!!!

What can you say, that hasn't already been said below lol. This is an incredible video and I hope in future landings you produce more of these!

Well done! Thanks for an awesome feat of data wrangling. It's easy to take for granted watching this nicely annotated and informative presentation. Thanks as well to Universe Today dot com for directing me here.

Would be even better if the scale had zero in the middle, not on the very left. Because it always moves. Otherwise it would stay still making it easier to follow.

Can you extract the pitch an yaw of the vehicle, by calculating the angles from the perspective distortion shown?

Yes you can! I'm to stupid to do that kind of calculations but someone could.
