Episode 21 of Love At First Scent
This was a Facebook Live broadcast streamed on Sunday 28th October 2018. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
Perfumes covered in this video include:
The One Mysterious Night from Dolce & Gabbana (at the start of the video)
Pure XS edp from Paco Rabanne (at the 14:00 minute mark)
Erawan from Dusita (at the 28:00 minute mark)
Her from Burberry (at the 45:00 minute mark)
and the classic scent was
Encre Noire from Lalique (at the 37:00 minute mark)
[Samples of all of the above provided by the brands, except for the Lalique, which is from my personal collection]

Blotter update:
The D&G isn’t as easy to dismiss as I feared it might be. Yes, the woody-amber horror is still present, but some of the balsams and resins in the base are, to an extent, making up for its crudeness.
The Paco Rabanne is still playing a fairly predictable white floral + gourmand tune.
The Dusita has become a touch too faint, but it remains curious and intriguing.
Encre Noire is in full vetivert mode, as expected.
The Burberry is very strongly projecting the sticky-cough-syrup-cum-cleaning-detergent base of Kurkdjian’s own Baccarat Rouge. I know the latter has hordes of fans, but I can’t say I’m one of them.

You are right when you said ( lell) is night , and the other word (سحري) is meaning magical, so it’s magical night.

Years ago I had severe nasal problems and lost my sense of sense for a while but still wore and blind bought new fragrances including Shocking by Schiaparelli and I was delighted with it but alas when my sense of smell finally returned.. it didn’t suit me at all and I understood why others had said it was a bit strong . I don’t have it any longer but would love to revisit and try again .

Oh, D! You’re so modest. You say your French pronunciation is ghastly and then you speak like Molière. You say you can’t read the Arabic on the Dolce & Gabbana and then pronounce the words perfectly. Loved this episode as usual. Applause!

Hello again friend! Great video (per usual)! I wonder, though, if you could re-read the blotter update for Burberry Her and clarify your meaning? I'm American, and therefor, not easily startled. Witness our country's 2020 if you doubt that claim, and after four years of a synthetic president, I could see your statement going either way. Seems a bit crass for Dariush, then again, the perfume may just be that bad.

Thank God. A new Persolaise video! Your videos absolutely make my day. 🙂 Not a fan of Baccarat Rouge 540 either. Tried the edp and extrait. No, just no. Its base... the base that blares from beginning to an end that has no end. Perhaps one day I’ll change my mind. On that day, Hades should be rather chilly. Over to FB I go to watch epi 22. ❤️

I didn’t think of anything bad, when I switchen on this Episode 😄 Well yes, sex sells in all areas, but is it really necessary to mention it all the time? Perfumes are per se a sensual und intimite affaire, And I have never thought of popcorn as an aprodisiac ingredient, but we all learn. I smelled this yesterday in the shop , I felt it's really gothic and evil , Don't you think ? Btw سحري means magical not mysterious They translated it wrong Greetings from Egypt 🇪🇬

The better lalique "encre noire" is a l'extreme the best vetiver fragrance I own and that includes all the niche vetivers i own... a l'extreme is much more like Channels sycomore than the original encre noire..

There is mention of Baccarat rouge and I was shocked by how much it reminded me of all those nasty sugary candyfloss Brittany spears horrors . I only had a tiny decant fortunately but hadn’t expected it to smell like that at all .
