But I still think that the lines of text saying that margaret had a brief smile on her face for a moment and she looks you right in the eyes after marie asks why her poems are lying on the ground are big give-aways that Margaret is responsible

Paying attention to Japanese Mythology, Yu and Marie is the reincarnation of Izanagi and Izanami @1:42:59. Marie is still a choice to romance in Persona 4 Golden, but she’s technically still Yu’s (former) wife from a past life.☺️💍🇯🇵

@@windwood7168 - Only three of the girls are what you call “maidens”. Yukiko (as Amaterasu) is practically Yu’s (as Izanagi’s) daughter.😆 And as I said for Marie, yes. Yu and Marie are husband and wife, but from a past life (as Izanagi and Izanami). It’s still up to the player if they want the two to be together.☺️

I remember my first time playing through Golden when I was a kid and being mad confused when Marie disappeared and then tried reloading saves when I found out it was because I never maxed her out. Unfortunately, the saves wouldn't give me enough time to complete them and I couldn't get the true ending. Years later I replayed it tho and learned from my mistakes. Made sure that Marie was the first person I maxed out, same thing goes for maruki, kasumi, and akechi in P5R

Japan and many more modern refer to all games Shin Megami Tensei umbrella as Megami Tensei or Megaten for short. Shin Megami Tensei is a Spin off of the the first two Megami Tensei Games on the Famicom which the first one is based off of the the novel series Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei. Marie being Izanami reborn is probably reference to the novel where the main hero and Heroine are reincarnations of Izanagi and Izanami respectively. Persona 4 Golden came out a year after the 25 anniversary of the first novel and the year of the 25 anniversary of Megami Tensei on the Famicom.

You know, Marie's rather tempermental attitude towards Yu can possibly be attributed to Izanami's legend. I remember how it ended. Izanagi got terrified with Izanami's new grotesque appearance and ran away, sealing her away. Goddess or not, I imagine any woman would be rather bitter and angry about something like that.

@@Polevolter I think it has to do with Marie in the P4 anime being shoehorned into the plot. But I feel like people are too harsh on her for a bad interpretation in the anime. she's fine in Golden, her and Naoto are tied for best girl in my opinion.

I’m going to be completely honest with you all. Yu and Marie are my favorite of Yu’s potential ships. It’s not even just Marie being Izanami to Yu’s Izanagi. The Persona 4 Golden Anime helped better my opinion on Marie as a character by making her a legitimate part of the Investigation Team.
