Persona 5 (PS4, PS3) is the latest JRPG sensation to hit English-speaking countries. Was it worth the wait? Let's break it down. ★Subscribe for more: / gameranxtv ★Follow Jake on Twitter: / jakebaldino ★Instagram: / jakebaldino
gameranx I've only used a fighting system like this in South park stick of truth. How difficult is it to learn the fighting system in this game If I am not used to jrpg except yakuza series?
Are you going to say something about Atlas threatening to go after RU-vidrs and streamers? It's just shocking that people find it acceptable, to threaten to go after peoples lives and incomes etc.
I'm thinking about buying it, never heard of persona before. Any advice? Not 100% sure if I wanna buy it or not. Don't want it to be 1 of those games I buy and NVR play again
before you buy know this, are you ready to lose your life for the next 120 hours? are you ready to fall for people that dont even exist and get wrapped up in a virtual life?
I remember playing this for 17 straight hours then I tried to sleep but I can't. If you don't want to lose your social life don't play this game. P5 is like a drug, very addictive!
Chasing Chickens Funny enough, I know a guy that started playing this game, and played it every day for like hours on end, so i asked him; Dude, dont you have work? He told me he quit and i asked him why and he said the hours didnt work for him. I was like, wtf? Since when? Hes like “since i started playing this game”. I fucking kid you not.
MaGiiK WizDom It’s a pretty easy platinum but it’s kind of time consuming because this game is like 100+ hours long depending on how you play it but it’s a lot of fun I’ve platinumed it and I’m still playing it because it has lots of replay value
Masterchief 57 it's not the anime fans he hates its just anime in general. How much do you want to bet that he thinks that every anime is just some slutty girl who has triple d breasts?
Don't buy, big waste of time coming from someone who has the first 4 and PSP versions. This is by far the worst. Doesn't hook you like 4 and 3 and the music sucks!
COMPLETE newcommer to persona, only ever heard of it a couple of times, so i decided to take a gamble and buy persona. I have almost reached the 50 hours mark. i am without a doubt in love.
Fine Nane I bought it for Christmas and have spent around 50 hours on it, it's pretty damn good. If you're thinking about buying it, just be prepared for a shit ton of dialogue, way more than you might be expecting. The game isn't open world but you can walk around certain areas and explore, but you're "timed" for some activities and you'll use you that time doing those activities. You have to balance takedown requests, your bonds with other characters, studying, going out (for social stats), etc. because they all tie in with the combat. I'd recommend it but it's not for everyone either.
Fine Nane Also, the first 6-12 hours are basically a huge tutorial, it isn't so bad but stick with it after the first palace and you'll really like the game.
I have never experienced the need to grind in Persona 5. The game is perfectly paced. If you complete your main missions quickly, you can use mementos to complete the requests which give a good amount of EXP.
Yeah, this is the grindless persona game i've played. Finished the game (true ending) while i still have lv 30 Jack frost. Still die sometime but it's still really enjoyable
@@m_riidi if you play on any difficulty above normal you'll have to farm eventually. On higher difficulties you can get away with being way below the average lvl but fights get very rough. I played most of the game around 7-12 lvl's below the average lvl, sometimes 20 below. When I was hard headed & didn't want to grind a few lvls most of my fights came down to RNG even when I played well. This game gives you so many options though that even if your under leveled you can still beat anything you want. You just have to put more thought into how you play.
@@m_riidi I had to farm a bit before the final boss just to grow from level 69 to level 84. Took me just 1 hour tho, the 2 enemies before the final boss really know pain now
This is the ultimate feel good game. Love the characters and started to miss them when it was over. I can’t wait to start the game again from scratch. Everyone should play this
old comment, i know but yeah. im 100h in, i can feel the end coming closer. i know I'm gonna have what they call "post persona 5 depression", but at least i have p5r waiting for me. gonna start it as soon as i get done with p5. edit: played p5r twice now, 30h into strikers
Abigail Weller I always heard about it but didn't het into the Persona Series till Persona 4 Golden and absolutely lived it which made me play Persona 3 and was eagerly awaiting 5. And just as the previous ones, I can't put the game down. Totally blew my weekend sucked onto the game. I actually had to stop because I wake up early for work and been giving myself like 3 hours to sleep. But I can hear it calling me. It's always, I'll save after this, but then keep going and next thing you know it's 2am.
ya persona is a amazing game if you like this one i relly recoment playing the others they have all the others on the playstation vita well sort of they dont have the fighting games which continue the story of 3 and 4 and they have persona 3 portable which dose guy some content but add in some new stuff like the option to play a female character insted of male
I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I'm currently trying too learn how to make coffee while studying for exams and eating burgers bigger than my head...how about you?
FrostWarp bro I'm like 6m late but I've done a fuk ton in this game I'm like 280+ hours in on my second play through trying to get the platinum, this game is definitely on my favorite of all times list hands down 👏 bravo ATLUS
Nabinani 777 ps is having a sale, i have never played a persona game but got the ultimate edition with all dlc for $90, played for 7 hours straight after i got it and am loving it so much...$90 is spendy so no problem if you wouldnt wanna fork up that kinda cash they also have the standard edition for $30 and i highly recommend it for that price.
A5AP KillThemAll I need bloodborne lol I keep forgetting to get that when I go to buy games...i just bought this today and the kingdom hearts games that came out in march lol..... I'm super excited for the lord of the rings game for PS4, Friday the 13th, and Spider-Man
A5AP KillThemAll Xbox Exclusives: 1 PS4 Exclusives: 9-10 so far im so glad I PC the DS and PS4 because I have every damn game I want to play. Love this game so far
This was my first persona game. I played it in small chunks between August and this past weekend with very little of other games in between. It was one of the best 100 hours I've put into a game and before this one Skyrim and Mass Effect we're the only "RPG" games I'd ever truly completed.
This is my first Persona game, I was scared because of the "Don't worry, just sink 100 hours in" thing. But...here I am...2 days later with 20 hours clocked in...
It's such a cool game! I absolutely love Joker, and you can tell the creators put a lot of love into the designs of various characters and menus. This game can go in crazy directions and each ending is a tear jerker in their own way. I hope anyone considering buying this game knows that it is a great game and worth the $60 or so that it costs.
Yeah it was a good game I platinum it but it was definitely a letdown story-wise and Chapter 13 was pretty bad. Persona 5 on the other hand I enjoy it from beginning to end and then again on NG+. I platinum'd FFXV on 69 hours while it took me 202 hours for Persona 5. It was a much more enjoyable journey on P5 and I didn't even bother with NG+ on FFXV at all
Xelog Z-star for me I feel like JRPG was quite stagnant and boring these past few years plus most of the one that came out are mostly waifu-focused JRPG so I'm always looking for something to refresh the JRPG. I thought it was FFXV but Persona 5 did it for me
As a long time JoJo and Persona fan, it's refreshing to hear someone refer to Personas as being Stand like as opposed to Stands being Persona like. Thank you for this gift 🎉.
That's not true at all, I'm a huge jrpg fan and absolutely can't stand persona games. You have to be a fan of sim style games as well to fully enjoy a niche game like this. The guy in the video literally just said the first -12 hours barely has any combat, how can you possibly say every jrpg fan would like something like that?
Adam Braunstein I bought this game the other day, it's a non stop fun ride trust me. No other game has made me happier or more engaged and entertained than this game has. YES I've bought mass effect andromeda, nier automata, and the new zelda all within the last month, this game takes the cake. I'm only 12 hours in, and I've been erect the entire time.
I mean I'm sure theres enjoyment to be had but I can't stand the high school sim aspect of the game, the combat looks good but everything else is so off putting I don't think I could be able to ignore it.
It's fucking worth it, honestly. Persona is an amazing turn-based jrpg and never has any of the entries in the series disappoint me. Persona 1-5 is a bundle of charm and just overall really awesome games. It is a very niche game for a lot of people but I think it's worth it, I mean, I am not a fan of turn-based games but like pokemon, persona made me addicted to it. Honestly, just buy it right now and see for yourself, persona 5 is so good. Inb4 people calls me a weeb rip
Nocturnal Don't worry. You're not a weeb. people just enjoy putting labels on anyone who enjoys an "anime" game. Simply liking a good game like this shouldn't make someone a weeb
It's fine, I have experienced enough internet to not let ignorant insults bother me. I get what you mean with the "weeb" insult, I think it's just meant to be "funny" like: "Oh so random, I insulted someone who likes anime with weeb so I am pretty funny and shit."
My friend told me to buy, I wasn't convinced had no idea what it was. Watched your video and still am confused. So I did what any reasonable person would do. I bought it blindly for $10 more at game stop and have clocked 62 hours in one week.
I played Persona 5 few weeks ago, it is my first JRPG and the first "japanese/anime" styled piece of media I have invested time in. I never was a fan of anime etc but I decided to play it because of the reviews and I have to say that I never had more fun in a videogame and I don't remember being so addicted to a singleplayer videogame. It took me 83 hours to finish the first playthrought and I had to play it again because I was having so much fun! Definitely one of the best videogames I've ever played
Hey man, there's a dude called BECAUSEVIDEOGAMES who has released his own review of this game but has copied your video footage. He even paraphrases everything that you have said in this video (some lines are just straight up plagiarized). He has about 100,000 views off your own material, I'd get him wacked if I were you.
It's ridiculous. By the looks of it, SuperNaruto170 certainly is not in my generation, he/she seems to be an ignorant child.. But I highly doubt it has anything to do with generation and more to do with ignorance or education or upbringing... yeah that's it, we'll blame the parents... It's Narutos parents fault he/she is an ignorant fuck, or could it just be they were born ignorant and will die ignorant (lets hope it's sooner rather than later...) whatever it is, someone with that kind of mentality needs to feel shame and is definitely the better candidate for a suicide attempt (fingers crossed)... anyway, I digress... yes James Keegan, it's pretty bad craic aint it?
LeGardien44 - TwinStudio Of course it does.... pretty basic ones but they get nice little stories. and OH LORD DONT GET ME STARTED ON ANN'S BATTLE STANCE, THAT SHIT IS HOT
LeGardien44 - TwinStudio i thinks there is like 9-10 females you can romance and the cool part is, you can finally romance the female social links that are not the main characters
Go get the teacher, man. Might seem boring at first compared to others, but that's exactly why she's the most realistic and believable in there ! Go get her !
I became obsessed as soon as I started playing- I was head over heels and it’s interesting to see his opinion on how he wasn’t crazy about the beginning. Personally, I feel like game drags on later on because you’re doing a lot of the same things, hearing a lot of the same tracks and it gets tedious but when the game first starts out it’s heaven. Once I got to Futabas palace I was kinda starting to play less and less because it felt repetitive, but I still love the game to bits and keep playing.
I have over 65 hours on my first playthrough and since the time adds on to new game +. So I have nearly 100 hours and I don't regret any bit of it. It's such a good game that I'll always come back to. I love the game so much the ending made me tear up abit. Nothing will replace this game in my opinion.
@@sabianwarner5316 If I remember, I think I mainly skipped a lot of the cutscenes or fast forwarded them. Stuff like these. I did all the content though.
Preordered this game, first persona game I've played, love this game. Favorite OST of all time. High recommendation if you like story heavy games, or JRPGs. Don't recommend if you're impatient.
I love this game... exept for when I die and lose the last 30 min of my time -_- Also when I leave my house to buy something, then I can't enter again -_-
I bought this game about 8 months after the release, not knowing a single thing about it (other than it being a JRPG). And let me just say: HOLY FREAKIN CRAP. I have never been so addicted/in love with a video game before. I've got over 300 hours of game play (spread out between multiple play throughs). I LOVE THIS GAME! Totally worth the random purchase.
one of my favorite games of all times. I enjoyed Persona 3 and 4, but 5 is the game that made me fall in love with the series. Now, replaying 4 I have even more love for the game and I'm looking forward to revisiting 3 again
this is what i like about some of the japanese game, they don't have the fanciest effect but everything just look almost as good as 3A games. they are really good at working within the limit.
Hanyun Song I feel the same! It is like how Nintendo are able to make their exclusive games look excellent on weaker hardware. The art style and presentation matter more to me.
Things to do before you buy Persona 5. Things that might help: - cancel any plans you have for the next month - turn off your phone so you don't get interrupted -buying a yusuke body pillow What to do: 1) Don't watch this video. 2) Get in a car 3) Drive to a game store 4) Buy Persona 5 5) Play Persona 5 You'll thank me
@@NovaSniper12 the nearest shop that sells physical video game copies is like 80km away from where I am right now. it'll get a lot cheaper to just buy the digital copy, you see.
Just picked up the game and I love it to death, the story is fantastic, characters are well rounded, and combat is really fun and battles can turn either direction with one or 2 moves. Its not a game for casuals you have to invest your time in order to do well.
I knew absolutely nothing about Persona, didn’t even know it existed. I’m thankful that this video was recommended to me when it came out cause now I’m obsessed with not only Persona 5/ Royal but the Persona series as a whole
This is the best game I've ever played. Easily. Sure the start is slower than Kingdom Hearts 2 but I still loved it. Also I'm surprised that you said nothing about the soundtrack cause it's really great.
you cant imagine how happy i am after finding out that is out for ps3 too is going to be my first persona (i didmt have a vita or my old consoles so i missed out on the series)
ZefiroJJ Idk I just remember beating it on ps2 and it changing my entire view of video games. Then I got the psp version and it felt slimmed down. Anyways I never played 4 and I am hoping that playstation streaming thing will let me play 5 on pc.
Josh Jacobs I never played portable but I know fes has a lot more choice and things to do. have more control over things also from what I see. the story was the best thing about fes. persona 4 had way more stuff do to in it but the story in 3 just grabbed me so much more
Woah man I found a copy of this game and before just immediately selling it, I watched this video and decided to give it a try. I’m freaking hooked! I don’t normally play these games but the story and art style is so satisfying. The polish on this game alone makes it worth playing. Thank you for this series of videos.
Y’all made me start persona 5 again. I just realize through a few videos that since I’m 22 hrs in I’m just now sorta getting to the end of the tutorial 😮 this game has been fun, hilarious, memorable and hard asf. I put the game down for a year or two because I couldn’t get pass this one fight. I’m now picking it back up. Hopefully I can beat it, coming back refreshed 😅
RebelPrizes Games turn based, it's not super scroll and attack like other turn based RPGs. If you like any Jrpg you'd like this. The only thing you might not really like is that the game doesn't hold your hand. ( actually nevermind saw you had dark souls ) it's a good game. And all the activities you can do are pretty nice and at times make you feel like " wow I need to finish this social link" as you get deeper bonds with friends and get some nice back stories on them
Yes, as Bryan said. If you've liked any Jrpgs in general, then Persona series is gonna be your heartthrob. It combines everything that is good about most Jrpgs. And seeing as you like KH, the story is not gonna be a problem. ( Although, expect a very dark subtext and satire to society. ) All in all what to consider : - It IS turn-based fighting system. - It has a vibe of the catch 'em all Pokemon, collecting "demons." - There can be lots of grinding involved, depends on difficulty choice and your style of gameplay. - The characters are great and you can have relationships with them. You can romance the girls and grown women around you. And as you get to know more about each character, the more fond of them you become. - The writing is a strong satire to real society, very hard-hitting. I can't say those are good or bad points, since it depends on what you prefer. But that pretty much sums up the defining points of the game. Personally I hope you pick it up ! And if you do and like it after all, spread the word !
RebelPrizes If you're expected fast paced action like KH or DkS, just don't. But if you like turn based combat and a very deep story then this is for you
Finally started it, 20 hours in......and holy shit, I finally have a new game to take out RE7(my previous favorite game of 2017) as my new favorite game of the year! Just.....wow. So great!
Between persona 5 vanilla and persona 5 royal ive played this game 4 times and it never gets old and the 3rd semester in persona 5 royal is amazing. This was also my first jrpg. Would probably do another playthrough if this game came to pc or switch.
the ps3 version is running so smooth its insane, ive had my ps3 since 2008 it was a ps3 slim , and after about 2 years of silence i am playing it again like so much because of persona 5
I am generally new to the RPG/JRPG site. I played Pokemon, but that was it for a while. I played a handful of the Tales Of games and really enjoyed myself, so I wanted to get more into the genre. This video, and others, really helped sell this game for me! Great work!
It was free for PS5 and I heard some many great things I decided to download it, but he’s right it’s extremely hard to get into, you have to invest some time. But it’s 100% worth it, once you learn the game it’s becomes extremely easy. So glad it I stuck with I bought p5 royal and started a new game because I just wanted the best experience.
I come here once in a while just to see people's comments, especially the newcomers for the series, this is how much I love this game, the hype in my heart just can't die out even after all these years.
@@Hawke.The.Talontless yeah, take your time buddy, the story of this game is not worth the rush. It's a JRPG, and probably the longest of the series. I also completed it for the first time in the span of few months, in between work etc. But damn, after I finally finished I legit cried when the credits rolled. last year I managed to finished it for the second time with the Royal version.
I’ve never played a jrpg before, would this game be too much for a newcomer? I gotta say I’m intrigued but worried I’ll put it on, not have the slightest idea of what’s going on and then never play it again. Does the game ease you in or treat you like you’re a jrpg master?
It’s really easy at first. The game only really shows difficulty at the end of the 2nd dungeon and then it picks up. There are difficulty levels, I play on normal
I'm not trying to fanboy, but seriously Xbox has no games. Ps4 has been killing it with its exclusives this whole generation, the Switch has Zelda, hopefully all its other games are of that quality, and PC is PC, nuff said. Most of Xbox's best looking exclusives have been canceled (Scale bound, new Fable game) and all its other exclusives will be on PC. All it has now is Halo, which will inevitably come to PC sooner or later. Honestly Phil Spencer what are you thinking? There's no point to having a Xbox if I get get all its games on another platform with more exclusives
As someone who plays both and has given up trying to get my Xbox friends into buying a PS4. Xbox fans will defend their "superior" controller compared to PS and a cheap simplistic setup compared to PC.
I started persona 5 royal from a scratch and it is so overwhelming that had to stop playing for months at times. I'm finally feeling that I'm in a good pace now after the third dungeon, but now I have to learn the complex strategies of everything after now knowing ''most'' of the basics. This game is definitely the most complicated game I've ever had to learn. I'm getting a feeling though that the 2nd playthrough is gonna more enjoyable for me than the 1st, so I can just blaze through with better knowledge while getting a little bit different of a plot experience as well.
Was looking for ur persona 3 reload videos and found this gem. First the quality difference over the years lol. But also it's great how u came into this a newcomer and now u mention the greatness that is p5r regularly. Just went back and beat royal for the 3rd time and man it is such a top tier game.
My first Persona game EVER. Where the hell have I been?!?!?!?! I'm 140 hours in right now, and I'm coming up on the finish.... And all I can think about is what I'm going to do in my SECOND playthrough!!!
+Kasuta Yeah, playing Persona 3 for the first time now and i'm addicted. Enjoying it far more than Persona 4 Golden which I beat 4 years ago. I'm only in mid-August and have about 50 hours clocked. Forgot how long Persona games were
I got 14 hours in and just got done with the gym teachers dungeon but man there's so much to do and you have to manage time I'm spending more people while having a part-time job just crazy.. while crafting lockpicks which if u work you have to go to bed when u get home and work the coffee shop sometimes .. but it's s real Challenge to earn enough money to buy items along the way to sell.. u really have to hustle in this game ..
I dont know why...ive never played a persona game before and im playing it right now....and right from the start it was such a blast to play! I never felt too overwhelmed and i am so invested in the characters and the story! Love it
I want to play this game so much, but I only got a ps4 quite recently and there's just so many games to catch up on. From what I've seen and heard from friends this is an absolute must buy, so I'm saving it as I know that the second I start it I will wave goodbye to a sizeable portion of my life...rip.
I still haven't finished the first dungeon and let me fucking say, I am SOOOO glad summer break is right around the corner because this game is something you need to dedicate ALL OF YOUR TIME TO. I literally just got it and Its not the kind of game you play 1-1.5 hour chunks you need a solid like 6 hours for every play session (might have exaggerated)
here we are seeing nintendrones in the ecosystem begging something that is surely will not come out on their consoles. SMT is already a nintendo exclusive and you lot still wanna beg more? gtfo
Lurima Lasiaf So? SMT is SMT and Persona is Persona. I don't think why would a switch owner wanting Persona on their console would be a problem to you.
