Even though I don't have an opinion on Haru, I feel like some of Yoshizawa's screentime could've been spent on her instead. It doesn't help that Mona took Haru's spotlight in the end of Okumura's palace, and Haru just comes in so late in the game you don't even bother to max out her social link.

“It does seem they shoved Yoshi into every scene they could.” Ehh, I disagree. Compared to other main confidants, you really don’t see her that often until her Arc gets set in motion for the third “semester”. You only see her about once a month for story reasons, and maybe twice a month if you want to max her confidant. Which makes sense since you meet her on the second day of school. You’re not just going to never speak to her again. I can also confidently say that the reason Atlus’ push her in so much is because they clearly wanted to make her Joker’s canon love interest, such as the fact she’s the only female confidant to get a Showtime with him (which is pretty romantic), or that she gets quite a few dedicated Anime cutscenes. Plus she’s the only confidant that flat out confesses openly to Joker no matter what you do. I personally don’t like this decision, because it’s makes you question what the point of even having other romance-able confidants is.

They missed an opportunity to actually change the story with Kasumi's introduction. Spoilers She doesn't actually fucking do anything in the casino at the start of the game, she just shows up and then leaves. The game then gives her her persona before this palace so that scene can happen but then refuses to let her join because they need everything to happen the same as before. It makes the new stuff feel super fucking tacked on. Hell they even introduce Maruki's palace and Joker just decided not to mention it or look into it at all for like 4 solid months. Not once does he tell the team of its existence. They also don't address why a persona user can have a palace after the original game has a throw away line that says persona users can't have palaces (which also isn't explained).

Honestly, I think what they did with Kasumi was brilliant. Spoiler warning. I'll admit that she was dull for the first part of the game, and some of the new scenes involving her were kinda contrived. But the third semester is where she really shines. She seemed one-dimensional before because that's what Sumire saw Kasumi as, a one dimensionally perfect person. I also like that before the reveal, she only has 5 ranks in her social link, indicating that Maruki's tampering completely stunted her personality. She was also one of the characters that felt genuinely affected by her trauma, making her rejection of Maruki's reality really powerful. She's a good indicator of the world Maruki wants: a squeaky clean, perfect reality where there's no pain, but nobody ever grows or changes. It adds a lot to the themes of royal. She wasn't handled perfectly, and I can see why someone might not think the later plot twist justifies her being dull for most of the game, but she ended up being one of my favorite characters.

I reaally liked the new buffed baton passes. It really feels like you get rewarded for stacking up damage. Passives are also really fun. However I kinda dislike the freedom you get at night now. With the new time, it's so easy to get every confidant. I had every confidant maxed out just before shido. So the last semester felt kinda empty :/. It also didn't help that I could just sweep a palace in 1 day because of all the baton pass boost + sp adhesive, and I played on hard mode. So the baton boosts arent all good. I wish the amount of 2 confidant point answers in dialogues were significantly reduced

I honestly think they were actually planning to make her a female protagonist, but 1/3 of the way through decided it was too much trouble. So they just shoehorned her randomly since they already used her in promotions.

Now that 5 is completely finished I can't wait to see what Atlus would do for P1's 25th anniversary. There better be something. Personas 1+2 aren't that bad they are underrated games that need more love.

To me, Yoshi felt like she could easily be removed. Not just from the base story, but Royal too. She barely impacts it. ANd where she does, you can realistically replace her. It's so funny that it's kinda sad (also the sae palace and everything leading up to it was forced. She somehow followed joker to the hideout without being seen by ANYONE and then somehow figured out which palace they were going to and the keywords for it and THEN she just hung around outside and only acted when she saw the police like bro that's some contrived shit right there). Also, I feel like only the west likes Egg Boy. We got literally nothing on egg boy after Royal released in Japan, but over here he has like thousands of fans that are all teenage girls that think he's babey.

Kasumi felt a bit forced. She is important for the 3rd semester's story, but for a "main" character, she's kind of like "Hi senpai! ... Okay bye senpai!" For most of her interactions until the 3rd semester comes around. I love that you got to date Akechi though, instead of having forced rank ups with him and him just being a whiney bitch later on because daddy doesn't love him. You now understand why he hates his daddy and everyone else... he's attention starved and abused by them usually.

The most important thing about Sumi is that alpharad got verified with her as a profile pic. Truly a historic event for anime profile pics.

Playing this back to back with the original, really shows how many things they improved when you really look closely. Pretty much nothing in the game was left alone, and even though the story is mostly the same, everything else feels like a new game with the subtle improvements!

I was watching your video on persona 4 and with no spoiler warnings was told who was the killer was. I was playing it on pc. Now it feels like persona 5 because there is no mystery because every is spoiled before the crime actually happens.

For me, I loved Persona 5 and I was very disappointed with P5R, wasn't worth the $60 not by a long shot. At least now I know to just wait for the "superior" version.

My favorite change Royal made was how the bullets worked. Now I can freely unload magazines into shadows without worry.

I'd also liked to bring up how they tweaked a few elements with the combat and confidants that just made them work better, like the gun for example. Now instead of only getting a set amount of bullets during each trip to mementos/palaces, and then once you're out you're done using the gun. You get to refill them after every battle, for example Jokers gun has just eight bullets now. But now you don't have to worry about constantly conserving ammo in case you need it for an enemy later or being forced to go home because you can't use your gun anymore, you can just unload all eight shots into an enemy to finish it off, then once you get into another battle, you start off with eight bullets again! This is really convenient in the long run and makes Shinya's confidant actually matter because now you'll be able to use the gun tricks you learn from him more often.

Persona 3 FES was released in ps2. Dlc wasn't a thing there. Plus it adds "the answer" story. You can pretty much call FES a sequel. They also retouch the main game but adds more story after the ending of the original game. My pint here being that it is different from p5 royal or p4 golden which happen before the ending of the original game. So they shouldn't be put together imo

This is more of an expansion. And on that note, it is incredible that Pokemon got ahead of the curb and decided to go for an expansion pack instead of an enhanced re-release. I think Royal could have definitely have been an expansion. Even FFXV did it through a Royal Pack. The new content is great, but I felt a bit cheated paying 60 dollars for 85% of the same content.
