P5 dancing had so much potential I wish there was more content, as well as an option to play to the original song as I prefer them to many of the remixes
1:16 worst part is, if you already own either Dancing 3 or 5, you can’t buy it. I had Dancing 5, and only just heard about that 4 was included as a bonus. I told myself I’d at least get 3 and 4. Then I tried purchasing it, and got a message saying I was unable to buy it, because I already owned one of the things in the package. So essentially, I’m locked out from playing Dancing 4 just because I bought 5 on its own
@@Eliwoodfan10 Well thanks for letting me know. It would’ve been very nice if Altus just offered it by itself, so that this wouldn’t have been a problem in the first place, but can’t have everything. Would’ve been nice if they at the very least told me to uninstall if I wanted to purchase.
You can actually get it on ps4 and ps5 if you buy the endless night collection. It’s not on the art though for some reason but if you read the description, it says that it comes with it. It’s also digital now so you don’t have to pay $100 now. It’s usually $60 but it goes on sale pretty often for anywhere from $20-40
I ended up getting the preorder from a friend for my birthday but somehow the code was already used. Ended up buying the Collection digitally on a sale less than a year ago and it just added P4D. Definitely not easy, but it’s worth the money for having it on my PS4.
I like how the dancing games for 3 & 4 feels like something special for the characters since they are together again And persona 5 is like Hey joker we haven't seen you for like a week Let's dance yo
P5D came out too soon. Their song list is easily the weakest of the three and could've really benefitted from P5 Royal, PQ2 and P5 Strikers. On the other hand, P3D has some of my favorite songs in the series. The remixes for Time, Way of life and Wiping All Out are simply a joy to listen to.
oh they could have remixed all the palace themes and had P3D & P5D as a single game. But ya P5D is severely hindered by coming out before royal and striker. which is sad since those games' soundtracks was really great.
One of the best things the Dancing games gave us, is high quality 3D models of the P3 and P4 characters. Even though P3D and P5D are so similar, P3D definitely feels like there was more effort put into matching the choreography with the characters personalities.
I feel like P3D and P5D were missed potential but P5D was dealt the worst in my opinion. It came out so soon after P5 came out that no Royal, Q2 or even Strikers songs was in the game. P3D had every game of it already out so there was nothing left out and that makes P5D substantially worse. This is a situation where DLC would have made sense but surprisingly, Atlus released no DLC for other P5 games.
@@KaiKrimson56 Yeah, and they could have had Keep Your Faith/Throw Away Your Mask remix, Prison Labor Remix or even a Kichijoji 199X remix. As for Strikers, every jail theme could have gotten a remix. Also Counter Strike and the final boss themes could have also gotten remixes. The possibilities are endless and it sucks that this didn’t happen because of a company trying to release a game so soon after the hype of P5. And again, this is a situation where DLC would have actually made sense since P5 still had more games releasing.
I find it funny that this is a scenario where DLC would have made sense and Atlus didn't do it, then we look back at the release of P5R and groan at the excessive and probably unnecessary DLC that it got, which is how not (sometimes) to make DLC.
I feel like something that could have been brought up for P3D/P5D is the way the dlc works. The DLC is the exact same between games, which means that you can use Shinjiro in P5D and Akechi in P3D. It makes it incredibly obvious that these were developed to be 2 different games to milk as much sales as possible and the fact that they may as well be one game with a mode select mode in the title screen.
To be honest though, I feel like that’s much less of an issue now that the bundle for all 3 games is like, $25. Like yeah they were trying to be greedy by splitting the game in 2, but it back fired and they’re the 2 worst selling persona games, and now the bundle for them is 1/4 the price.
I think the thing that annoys me most about the dancing games is seeing most of SEES and a good portion of P3’s environments with modern models. Honestly it’s pure remaster/remake bait.
hey whats up aqua! i gotta be completely honest while i both love your content (especially your arkham videos) I genuinely cant tell you and nam apart lmao, you guys make the video in the same style, have the same thumbnails, similar voice (sort of) so are you both the same person 🤔 (This is a joke btw but you guys are pretty similar)
Feel like they hit it out of the park first video with sonic and the black knight. First found the channel on a reddit game analysis sub and it had like 100 subs or something
To make the story explination for p4 simple... its about parasocial relationships. This is more a look of it from the perspective of the influencer rather than the viewer. People shaping themselves in a manner appealing to their viewers as an easy means to building a community. I feel like the words bonds was used oddly when words like community, culture and other things flesh out the overall feel while sounding less cheesy. But, I attribute that to translation. Mankinds desire for easy bonds. Interesting word choice.
Great vid. Only thing missed I think that’s worth mentioning was the obscene DLC for P3/5D. $25 for the songs, plus a $20 accessory and individual $20 costume DLC is absolutely not cool, and still selling the DLC for P4D again for PS4 is P5R levels of frustrating. Looking forward to PQ2 and the DMC vids. Also hope to see Neo down the line.
Also for 4 Dancing on ps4 in PAL regions, we didn't even get all of the DLC for some reason. And we didn't get the free DLC for 3/5, they're only in the season passes
Im glad you spoke up about the dismal track list for P5D. I loved P4D soundtrack and was so excited for P5's but the limited tracks was so disappointing that I ended up immediately returning my copy on amazon. Like you said, alot of the OG songs did not translate well into good remixes (or maybe the DJs were bad at remixing them). Even worse was the SHEER number of remixes for particular songs while omitting other classic P5 songs I thought would be in the game. I like Rivers in the Desert as much as the next guy but did we REALLY needed 3 remixes PLUS the original song on the track list???
One more thing I’d like to add about P3D over P4D and P5D is the presentation. The game’s backgrounds and models are amazing. High praise to the opening of the game which is just a beautiful blast of style. That’s not to say P4D and P5D openings are bad it’s just that I think P3D pops more especially with the song basically being a reunion for SEES
I honestly love P4D’s story so much, love what they did to Rise’s development, showing that the underclassmen wanting to be more independent and show their senpai how much they’ve grown, it really puts a good ending to the persona 4 series. I didn’t have too much problem with the visual novel section, can’t disagree some parts are slowly and I hope they’d just get to the point, BUT I didn’t mind it since it just meant more time with the investigation team, so give me 50 hours of this and I still wouldn’t mind 😂 ! As an overall game, P4D is perfect and I would’ve hoped that P3D and P5D would’ve added a story as great as P4D but still keep those dancing social links.
Getting King Crazy on The Fog on All Night difficulty is still something I'm proud of. Also The Fog has probably the best chart and chorography of the series.
As a visual novel enjoyer I'm fine with reading lots of text and getting into the minutiae of what the main characters are thinking. However, the monologues in these games kinda felt redundant and meandering alot of the time. It's probably because the characters monologues mostly just relay information we either already know or could infer on our own. I think it could've really been a good chance to get some real 1 on 1 insight on who these characters are but I guess they just missed the mark.
I platinumed all 3 of these games, 4 is my favorite, it was a fun time to 100%, and I still play it to this day! 4 was a good game, and so was a fun platinum to get. 3 wasn't as good as 4, but at least the songs were classics and I loved the characters, hell seeing Minato/Makoto alive again was some of the best feelings ever! 3 felt like it had so much love in it, so I loved platinuming it, not to mention I got King Crazy on almost every song out of sheer love. Then we have 5... This was the hardest platinum for me, just because of how bad the game was. The music was boring, certain songs were over done, I didn't enjoy the character's interactions, and so it was a lackluster platinum I did at 2 in the morning hopped up on soda, snacks, and sleep deprivation.
Same here, I also platinumed all three of those games, and my from favorite to least favorite were 4, then 3, then 5 mainly due to the song selection with 5 dancing having the least variety as they only had the original p5 songs to go off of at the time, while p4 dancing had multiple spin off titles they can pull from as well for 3 dancing, if 5 dancing came out alike a month ago I would’ve been better with the song selection since they could’ve pulled from other p5 games at that point
Same! I even Platinum-ed the Vita Japanese version of P4D just to have it as my fastest Plat last year in under 10 hours. 😂 it’s all because I enjoyed playing P4G and P4D back to back. The songs were awesome! I prefer P4D’s story over the social stuff of P3D/P5D but I prefer the presentation of P3D over P4D. Overall, I enjoyed all three games even though I haven’t played P3 and P5. If it wasn’t for these, I would not have tried P3P now.
I generally think P3 and P5 Dancing are both fine, aside form being overpriced, I don't think they deserve the massive amount of hate they're getting. But they would have benefittet from being one game instead of two, this would have benefitet the story and instead of 2 games with okay content for 100€ there would have been one massive game for 60 bucks. I generaly think that the P3D Storyline was really bittersweet with SPOILER the implications that Elizabeth only startet the whole contets so she could see Makoto again.
P5D was the first one that I played and I was shocked when there was a whole story mode in P4D and found myself really enjoying that one more than the modern ones. I am also very disappointed that P5D came out before Royal. Missing out on so many songs and characters that would be great in these games
Honestly, a lot of the reason I loved DAN's story was because of Rise. She's my favourite of the P4 girls, and the story not only features her front-and-center, but also focuses heavily on themes from her Social Link in particular. You can really see how she's grown past who she was in P4, and as someone who adores her, it really adds to the experience. I also think Ashly Burch did a fantastic job taking over as Rise's VA. I love Laura Bailey of course, but Ashly adds a bite to Rise's voice that feels really appropriate. She's not as gentle-sounding as Laura, and I think it works well for Rise's character in DAN. Also, the remix of HEAVEN, featuring Hatsune Miku? Pure fire. If nothing else, DAN has a fantastic soundtrack.
The one thing the entire Persona fandom can agree on, and apparently still agrees on to this day, if my time on r/PERSoNA has anything to say about it 😅 I did see someone try to defend the opening notes somewhat but even they admitted it fell apart after that. Personally I think it just sounds like a mess from 00:01 onward
To be honest, I'm just not great at rhythm games. I actually have a good sense of rhythm, and can dance in real life. In rhythm games too many notes overwhelm my senses and I freak out and mess up, either because the notes are coming in too fast, or there are too many, or both. Which is a shame because it makes playing these games less satisfying
I absolutely agree about P4D’s story. I own three different versions of this game, and having to play through the story each time to unlock all the songs, even skipping dialogue, really started to wear on me. I liked the idea of getting to play as different characters, but the excessive internal monologues don’t really make any sense when the narrative is already framed around Margaret telling you this story. Like, why are there dialogue options? But I did like Kanami. You mention wanting the option to have “goods” break your combo during fever time, and I have to say that is actually a challenge modifier available in P3/5D. I do appreciate some of the new challenge modifiers in P3/5D, namely the wobbling notes, but others seem super superfluous and just serve to inflate a King Crazy score. These two games really were just one step forward and two steps back. I do agree about P3D’s music, as well. Not every song hits for me, but when they do hit they’re fantastic. And I actually really like some of the charts in 3. The “Want To Be Close” Remix is possible my favorite chart out of any of the games, it was one of the first I got an all “perfects” score on. The only thing P5D has going for it, at least above the others, is the UI, and I’ll just leave it at that. P4D is definitely my favorite still. I’ve platinum-d it thrice and I own the OST on CD. It truly never gets old. But anyways, thanks for the review and giving me an opportunity to talk about these games!
I always wondered this, but is Yuko Osada based off of Yukiko Okada? (She was a Japanese 80s idol, but she passed away due to taken her own life) I recommend listening to her music if you're into city pop or j-pop! :3
I once looked up the track list for the P5 dancing game and was absolutely horrified. I don't remember liking any of them when I went through the playlist I found. Thanks for this video, because I don't think I'd buy any of these
Are they really widely considered the worse? Most people I've seen consider them fairly ok at least. A fun fact, though, 3 Dancing was already in development but due to 5's popularity they rushed to make it to come out with 3, hence why the songs in P3 are much better remixes. I always appreciated that, with P3D, Elizabeth has some nice interactions due to being from the present. My favorite being when she gets visibly depressed during one of her discussions with Makoto due to knowing what would happen to him.
@@imsmart799Zenkichi dancing? Haru: “Wow, I didn’t know you had the groove in you Zenkichi!” Zenkichi dancing like Danny Jules: “That’s what Aoi told me on one of our date nights and I owned that whole dance floor!”
Very nice review. One of the problems i had that you briefly touched upon was the amount of "visual vomit" on the screen. The amount of times i lost track of a note, because the screen was just destroyed by flashing colors or visuals and particularly during fever time is ridiculous. An option to reduce this would have made a world of difference. Edit. Neat trick i just figured out, if you turn you brightness all the way down in config. The notes stick out very well.
Glad I played P4 dancing years ago on my Vita and sometimes like to pick it up again, even if it looks a bit crusty compared to the ps4 version. Hoping they make it available outside of the collection sooner or later!
I am a huge fan of the dancing games, I probably have more time on them then their actual respective titles, which is saying a lot when the JRPGs are 90 hours. I've always liked rythyn games, but all of them are usually Japanese music I'm not into, and so having one around Persona was definitely a big selling point. I could honestly gush about these games for hours, they got me through a really tough spot in 2019, and I played them a lot with friends in 2020. I honestly wish there was a bigger community for these games, but I understand why there isn't, especially since a major reason I like them, and the series as a whole is because of where I was when I played them.
I will forever love Persona 4 Dancing's story which is why it is my favorite of the three. Then again, I love visual novel more than rhythm games so...
Yep, that's about my experience with Persona Dancing, too. I sank over a cool 100 hours into P4D back when it first launched just because it was a really fun rhythm game. In contrast, I slogged through P3D's platinum trophy in a couple days, never touched it again, and gave up on completing P5D halfway through. The spark P4D had is completely gone in the sequels.
My personal biggest issue with P3D and P5D is that treating them as sequels like P4D wasn't something that should've been hard. Sure Makoto died at the end of Persona 3, but a simple "something is fucking with the Great Seal and only responds to the bonds of people shown through Dancing. Makoto returns for one night some time after Persona 3 with the SEES team to stop this new threat". Persona 5 would've been even easier "Sometime after the events of P5, Mishima has set up a school musical about the Phantom Thieves. And he just so happens to have cast the actual Phantom Thieves as their own parts, with Ren being brought in just for the occasion. However in the School itself the Metaverse has re-merged and is being ruled by multiple dance gangs, it's up to the Phantom Thieves to show dominance as a dance group". The P3D one hurts even more cause the opening song literally is written from the perspective of "I'm so glad we can finally be together again as a group"
I get what your trying to say, however i dont think p3d and p5d deserve to be called awful just because of some minor inconveniences. I think those games are great gameplaywise, and tbh i dont really expect a rythmgame to have a focus on storytelling.
P4D was cool it had a story that related to the main game. And I enjoyed it. P5D didn't even include Sumire which would have been perfect and they could have done a story for 3 and 5 dancing. Not to mention the 5R songs. Also fem MC should have been in 3.
P4d is really just a good game. Story makes sense , choreography and music are just amazing. You can tell developers tried to make something special for persona 4 fan. P3 dancing game is okey. Choreography is still great and I was impressed with some songs . If you are fan of p3 I think you can enjoy it. But remix’s are weaker compared to ones from p4d. Still there are many songs that I like. P5 dancing game is just lazy. Remixs are just god awful. They recycled 1-2 songs many times. How can you make original p5 music worse. Choreography…. Just stop. Dance doesn’t flow well to the music and doesn’t feel like it’s got any meaning. I truly believe they made this game purely for greed.
P3D was being made and was probably going to be like p4d, but p5 was extremely popular so they took advantage of it by also creating p5d, ruining p3d’s original vision (probably) and made p5d an extremely rushed product. So yea it was made for greed
...gotta disagree with the thing against P5's choreography. As lazy as that game is, aside from Ryuji (which still baffles me to this day since the guy who danced as him was Junpei's choreographer), nearly every dancer brings their A-game in some shape or form. Joker's dances all kill it, mixing ballet and hip hop like an alchemist to represent P5's bombastic feel. The Phantom Thieves always crossing a line between being badasses with a tinge of grace was very well shown with Joker's movements. And River's in a Desert feels very personal to me, with each verse really showcasing Joker's longing for justice. He stays cool, he keeps his calm, but every time it reaches the chorus, spilling out the lyrics about this being a final chance for him, he completely gives himself up to the beat, whether with a partner or alone. Because this is his moment. And at the end of the dance, when all is said and done, his ideals finally gave him a much-earned victory over the man who took everything from him. He doesn't do his classic all-out attack finisher pose with the same snappy speed as usual, but instead, a content-chilled-out variant because at least. His justice has finally won the day. There was literally an entire analysis video on Akechi's dance, I ain't gonna get into that-- Haru is phenomenal during her movements, you could tell the actor had a field day with every single one of her songs. Unfortunately, her outfit doesn't match the phenomenal work she did. (Seriously, what the fuck is that-), like, I agree the game is lazy, and that the music is kinda trash, but Jesus, the outfits make me depressed. Yusuke was so in character it kinda killed me, XD like. It felt like Yusuke himself was genuinely dancing. For Morgana, I could imagine him doing like, more acrobatic and amazing/cartoony shit, but oh my goodness, Yusuke just feels like Yusuke. I feel like I could imagine the guy spouting off an entire speech about every turn and kick step he makes, explaining the beauty of how great they are. (And while I'm not gonna say something big about it, I feel like if you really look at his dance blooming villain /I think haven't seen it in a while/ you'll notice a lot of meaning behind it. Possibly Yusuke pushing past the trauma he endured from Madarame, which is why he's so serious during this tune. And the way that Joker and him do the part of his social link could be representive of him trying to build his creative self back up with the help of Ren/Akira...I dunno, I'm just looking way too much into something I haven't seen since 2020, lol Ann just feels like Yosuke to me; a little bit sexual at times sure, which is actually in character surprisingly, but overall she felt very modern and cool whenever she danced. Nothing overly flashy, but she danced and she made it look good. I especially like her stuff with Ryuji; the way they both did finger guns and high-fived was adorable. Honestly, I could make an entire tangent about how awesome the group dances are, like, Yusuke and Futaba in the days when my mother was gone still gives me chills. Also, speaking of Futaba...she was just being a gremlin most of the time, but when she started tap dancing. Jesus christ. The way it matches up with the song /and/ just looks flat out looks amazing /AND/ is a reference to the Persona stage play, is just SO cool to me, like, I love that so much. Makoto...is fine I guess, lol. Not my favorite, but it never felt too bad. Her doing those motorcycle motions in Price, the song to the palace she got her Persona in was a pretty nice touch, and the way she moves her feet around is honestly very cool. Unfortunately, her fight-dancing has nothing on Chie-- So yeah, that's my short essay about a subjective opinion, lol. I still agree with you on everything else, and honestly do think P5 had the weakest choreography overall...but I gotta be honest and transparent when I say that while the game is a bit weaker in that aspect, it's still really sick to me and I personally think just throwing it off as another lazy part of this cash grab is a little disingenuous. Because those dances and a couple of the social links personally save the game for me at least.
"I might not just be a big fan of visual novels, since I don't think relying so heavily on inner monologues is good storytelling." While that's a common foible of visual novels (including many beloved ones), it's hardly all of them. I'd give a short one a shot, like Saya no Uta, or VNs with an anthology bent like House in Fata Morgana. They're better paced, I find. If you have an iOS device, you could try Banshee's Last Cry, a grand-daddy novel game with branching & a silly post-game (yes, post-game).
Persona 3 Dancing was amazing imo. Lots of great interactions and a good track list with good rhythm gameplay and customization. 5 though had a big problem with so many repeats in the tracklist it was distracting, glad you brought that up. I didn't care about P4 Dancing and playing it AFTER 3 and 5 just made me annoyed at the lack of QoL and customization that 3 and 5 had.
One of the features with a lot of missed potential from P3D/P5D is that they have psvr compatibility, but you can only watch choreography. They could have made a few specialty dances for the mode, but otherwise it just feels like a tech demo.
My personal ranking is as follows: 1. Persona 4 Dancing 2. Persona 3 Dancing 3. Persona 5 Dancing I'm surprised you pointed out the note color being blue in P3D but didn't point out the abysmal UI in every menu and song in P5D. The main menu genuinely strains my eyes so much. Neon red sky, black & gray for high contrast, and then rainbow confetti in neon as well. It's so noisy. The red notes help with visual clarity, but the sides of the screen being black and dark grey also make it too high contrast for me. (Also idk whose idea it was to port a UI that works well only on handheld consoles to the PS4, a console where many players play on large TVs. I feel like I have to go cross-eyed to see every note.
P3D and P5D are prime examples of soulless cash grabs that were made to bait people nostalgic about those particular games. Even the remixes sounded half-assed compared to the amount of effort put into the P4D OST
One thing that people don't talk about as much... Is that choreography in p5d is also lacking compared to p3d or p4d. Half of the casts dancing in p5d is kind of boring and uninspired. What the fuck is Makoto dance for example? Compare her stiff crab movements to Akihiko or Chie, lmfao. Also Groovy... Yea, I don't like this song. It's so bad compared to Our moment and Dance! Dance! Is related to p4d story, and our moment is pure fanservice, but what is groovy trying to do? Especially second half - what's just going on there?
I see all the reasons people would hate P3D and P5D but i guess those issues never got to me. I enjoyed these game all pretty equally. I came back to them all the time just to play a few tracks. It is sad that P5D was put out WAY to early so its track list is a little disappointing.
There are parts I agree and disagree with. You missed out a few key details about the story for P3 Dance is that this takes place at the same time as Persona 5. So Elizabeth literally broke time and space to have one more night with the P3 protagonist and the dancing was a bit of an excuse since she kept hinting that she was from the future and missed him highly. Also, something P3D did that the others did not do as well was that every partner dance had more personality in how each character interacted with one another in their songs. Probably due to the fact that they had more history with one another. While it doesn't change that it is overall one half one a game compared to P4D I still think that between all 3 games, P3D was solidly in the middle between best and worst over P5D
The music from Royal and Strikers would've been amazing for P5D. I love the games but I agree that 3D / 5D aren't great. I still had fun with all 3 though
Another problem you can bring up is that p3 and p5 locking party members like Shinji, koromaru and Akechi behind dlc is pretty scummy especially how P4 lets you play two new characters like Nanako and Kanami. Not to mention it feels kinda lazy how p5 dancing just reuse locations from a game barely 2 years old at the time.
I'm pretty much with you on this one. P4D's story is a little long, but at least it actually has a story that ties into the original game really closely, plus it definitely has the best remixes (and it's the only one to actually incorporate the characters' Personas into the routines). P3D and P5D are pretty disappointing since they lack that kind of story, and P5D definitely suffers from having been released before Royal and Strikers, but I still prefer it over P3D because I feel like that "close bond between teammates" thing that all the dancing games share makes more sense with the Phantom Thieves than it does with S.E.E.S.
I loved the persona 4 dancing story/visual novel scenes. I am predisposed to enjoy reading though, the part I enjoyed the least was actually the dancing, lol. I’d love a straight up P4 visual novel.
I haven’t even played P3 and I loved P3D so much. Picked up P5D and thought it was 10x worse and haven’t touched it since, i’d love to play P4D sometime
I don't know how you can say P3D and P5D are "some of the worst in the series", they clearly werent made with story in mind, probably because, sorry to say, P4D has a trash visual novel story with so many meandering dialogs people probably skipped them (hence why Atlus decided to focus on songs). P4D has SO FEW TRACKS and you're LYING because theres a LOT OF REMIXES in P4D of the SAME songs. Means clearly you get more variety in P3D and P5D. Also visually the game is more readable. They're clearly, as a rhythm game fan, way better at the genre than P4D. Also, P3D and P5D have a progression based on the rhythm game, so you're incentivize to get better This whole video is basically like a JRPG fan (not a rhythm game fan) askin for a JRPG from a dancing game. For someone like me who owns each game's OST on cd or vinyl, those games are amazing at doing what they should : being a good rhythm game. The story was obviously just some fan service in those.
Persona dancing games in my experiences...When P4D announced I think to myself that it really make sense. I mean, the theme and characters of Persona4 is really make sense to do so. Also the story of P4D is really up to it as well. But when they announced P3D and P5D, those rings a questions for me... P5D beside but P3D, how to make a gloomy characters of P3 to dance? I did skip those though.
Even as someone who enjoyed p3d/p5d (to the point that I grind the tracks to get every social link), but everything you said was true. Enjoyable games, but a big sign of Altus being greedy, especially with p5d.
Time to rant about the DLC. Half of it wasn't released at all in Europe and Australia. So first off, obvious thing, some of it just straight up isnt available. Second thing, cosmetics and songs in 3 and 5 can't be purchased individually in these regions. For example, I just wanted Futaba's Shujin uniform. But noooo, to get that I have to buy ALL OF THE COSMETICS. And third, you know that free DLC for 5? IT IS STRAIGHT UP COMPLETELY INACCESSIBLE IN THESE REGIONS. You can view it in the store but when you try to download them they require you to own another one of the free songs released. That's fine I guess. Or it would be, BUT THAT SONG ISN'T AVAILABLE MEANING I AM COMPLETELY LOCKED OUT OF THE FREE DLC JUST FOR BEING BRITISH. Barely anybody talks about this issue when discussing these games so wanted to bring it up here to highlight the sheer fucking stupidity of Atlus.
They should have been allowed to summon their Persona to play music like in 4. The game is purely for fanservice. Not having them jam out is simply a downgrade.
I just want to buy P4D one... It's hard to get in Vita since in the past I still couldn't buy it since I'm still in school, now when I able to afford one, it's only in PS4 as a horrible bundle of P3D and P5D
oh shit, i'm NOT crazy? p3/5d ARE bad? I'm honestly glad to hear it from someone else. I haven't played 4d in a while and was worried it was as bad as 3 and 5, and I just didn't noticed before lol
I prefer P3/5D's social link over P4D's story mode When I get a rhythm game, I don't wanna have to play through a visual novel, which is almost completely separated from the gameplay P4D's story would've been fine as its own thing, but it feels out of place in a rhythm game
This. P4D's story is only really nice for people who enjoyed P4's story. But if you didn't or if you just want to play a rhythm game, it just makes playing the game a slog. But P3D/P5D's social link system captures the idea of the original games, while streamlining it for a rhythm game experience
The moving mouths in P4 dancing just look straight up bad most of the time and I don't like how they were also used in arena. I didn't even notice the moving mouths playing persona 5 because they just look so much cleaner and better.
P4D is still the best for me, it's an actual canonical sequel to P4G taking place a few months after the Golden ending. The writing is good, the pacing is great, it's a pretty good sequel to Persona 4 in general and takes you on another adventure along the cast. It also defines Yu as it's own character, since he gets spoken dialogues alongside the cast. Both P3D and P5D, from it's reveal, is already clear that they're just fan-service cash-grab games, which is fine at first, since after P4D is a thing, people actually wanted a Persona 3 one, and during the time looking forward to a Persona 5 ones. Looking forward to the remixes and the characterization of both game's MCs. since it's obvious that the game's wasn't canon, nobody really looks forward to any story content which is understandable, but people at least would like some interaction between characters. What we got in the newer Dancing games though, is pretty much half-assed. The MCs are still pretty much self inserts, not a lot of interesting interactions, even for the characters that doesn't get much spotlight in their main games (Haru.....), the games didn't really add much to their respective base games. And for P5D, the songs got pretty bad reception among the fans for being lazy. DLC didn't add much for how much they cost, some aspects of each respective game are pretty much ignored (we not getting FEMC is understandable? but she could cameo in as DLC, but we don't even get Methys in P3D although she's a big part of P3Fes's Answer storyline. We could atleast gotten them instead of freaking Sho Minazuki and Labrys which is technically a P4 character. Heck, getting in Shuji Ikutsuki is still a better fanservice to the P3 fans.) The dancing games could pretty much be a fanservice to the fans of a certain Persona game, even had the potential to revive the older games like P1 and P2, but i don't think the Dancing series are gonna be treated as more than a money cow at this point. Time to wait for P5A/U if ArcSys even wanted to work on that.
P3D and P5D have bad choreography in my opinion. The dances just don't "sync up" with the music at all, they're just generic dances. P4D dances are awesome.
The weird thing about the console version of DAN is that you still have to buy the DLC. I bought a handful of the songs for the Vita version and I honestly didn’t want to double dip just to play the song again for the console version. For some reason, Atlus had no problem having other rereleases with the DLC (ie P4AU) but not for the game port that’s exclusive to a bundle pack
My first persona game was P4D! My sibling bought the full collection since they and their gf had already been into persona for a few years at that point. I really loved the story and, of course, the music. I also absolutely fell in love with Yu. Will never forget that game for the wonderful world it introduced me to ❤️
Thank you, I've been waiting for someone to talk about how P3D and P5D are basically palate swaps of each other. I've tried to explain this to people before but now I can just show them this
Everyone seemed to dismiss P4D and the arena games as shameless cashgrabs but even now I still believe a lot of heart was put into them and they never got the chance they deserved. Especially considering p5scramble and the dancing games felt hollow in comparison in regards to the story but still get hyped up by the fans.
I wouldn't call it awful but mediocre instead. Its Fun to play on and off but the underwhelming content and microtransactions pull down the game alot. In the End, It was great to see P3 and P4 characters in HD while also dancing :) Great Video!
I got really lucky when I got the p4 dance all night on PS4, I wanted p5 dance for PS4 bc it was 25$ on black friday, but the only copy was the display copy which was actually endless night so I got all 3 games for 25$. Thanks GameStop employee who suffered thru black friday 2019.
I had to order a copy of the Dancing Collection from overseas a couple years back and make an American PS4 account to use the download code for P4D and the included DLCs because I knew I'd want to play all the games eventually and it's not sold in my country. It's a shame you have to go through such hoops to access P4D because it's easily the most fleshed out of the three games imo and the remixes are mostly pretty good. The code has an expiry date as well and I'm pretty sure by now they're all expired
3&5 being such downgrades makes it even worse that you can't buy 4 on it's own. It's like Atlus knew we wouldn't buy 3&5, so they intentionally put 4 behind them and said "if you want to play the good game, you have to buy both of the mediocre games"
see I read books so pacing didnt feel slow tto me I actualy like this pace alot the narrative actually brings tears to my eyes cause i wasnt prepared for it to be that serious
I recently bought the collection for 20$ and I believe it was worth it just for P4D. Ironic how P3D and P5D became the bonus (still good games though).
JacksonBrickMedia 0 seconds ago P5 dancing had so much potential I wish there was more content, as well as an option to play to the original song as I prefer them to many of the remixes
I love Persona 3 Dancing for a lot of reasons but I do understand that it falls a bit short in a lot of areas And while the music videos of P3D wind up feeling lackluster, the music remixes were better in my opinion than p5D, my personal favorite being Our Moment the Opening song of P3D the lyrics alone definitely hit home for me for nostalgia reasons, because lotus juice writing another song with the perspective of P3 ending, that hit me hard: "Been a long time coming Nothing but love baby Going way back back when we were bunch of teenagers Things done changed from back in the days However things as tight as this never ever changes Leaving y'all wasn't easy But for the better good much needed Tonight's the night reunite Party over here No mass destruction needed" Otherwise there's ome a song on P3D that I just don't like, it's a sped-up version of a song. It just ruined the timing of the song for me, the only song i refuse to king crazy. The velvet room boyband joke with the bros was hilarious and definitely fan service for people into tgat but i just laughed because its kinda true. In P5D they acknowledged a community meme with joker, yusuke, and ryuji bopping along to a song while driving Morgana, to turn that into a whole music video where they are in a police chase while the characters play a band version of the song. Pure fan service but in a good way with alot of production value. Otherwise yeah they p3 p5 dancing games could've been better i was just happy to see Sees all HD and upgraded beautiful And the way i got around P3D scratches was by having auto scratch always on, and then i turned other modifiers making it level out at a comfortable level so i could play the game, oversight sure but i love it none the less
