I love my Penelope lively, so much so that I got another one this year. Totally agree with you, love the colour of the stems, the leaf colour, the rose and the smell
I absolutely love the Penelope Lively rose‼️it has such a beautiful color, lovely shape & I really love its deep emerald green foliage‼️ I’m hopeful it will be available in America soon & can’t wait to smell it‼️Thank you Ben for another excellent review‼️🥰❤️ Debbie from Texas
Ben firstly thank you for your review, always enjoy them, and they have been the result of my garden having a feast for my eyes and nose:) , although i did buy her on release, i did not wait for your review and went and bought a bare root as well :( In my defence i would say it was down to how impressed i was of the rose in all aspects of beauty, growth, repeat, health not to mention scent. Also your first impressions helped heaps:)
Hi and thank you for your comment. I’m really glad that you like the rose. This one is absolutely exceptional so I hope it gives you many years of pleasure.
You’ve outdone yourself, Ben,, excellent , thorough, descriptive review, especially helpful was the comparison next to the other roses, ty so much,, this one is the winner of my last garden spot, will be waiting patiently for availability in U.S., cheers
@@thesummerland6165 thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed the insight. It is certainly worth waiting for she’s now on her third bloom cycle of the season and if the season allows I’m sure she’ll march on to 4.
Hallo Ben, ist es möglich diese Rose in einem großen Topf zu halten? Du hast mich zu dieser Rose vollkommen überzeugt! Deine Videos sind ausergewöhnlich gut! Excelent! Danke dafür!
I bought it following your review/opening last year. So far its my favourite DA rose and I have quite a few ❤ 🤣. However I’m looking forward to the new Emma Bridgewater later in the season and next year! My EB hasn’t flowered yet. So really Looking forward to it.
There is already one here from a couple of years ago on the best and fastest repeats it could be reworked this tune at the end of national Rosemon and would almost definitely contain this particular rose
@@ryansealy6755 it’s not gonna be possible this season I’m afraid but I assure you they could not be more different in shape and style. The Princess Alexandra of Kent produces some of the largest balloons in the david Austin collections sometimes over 5 inches in diameter with ripples of salmon and apricot running through the balloons, Penelope lively is very very raspberry and opens completely flat
Hello Ben, thank you for your amazing content. I am loving it! I ordered it online from David Austin website. What kind of flower pot do you use (if you) for example for Penelope lively, or Bring me sunshine!
Both varieties specifically bring me sunshine are going to get fairly large might bring me sunshine although pruned to a permanent framework of only 18 inches over the winter are now coming up for flowering and standing at least 7 feet tall. You’re going to need a pot at least 70 cm in diameter and 75 cm deep.
It's very pretty. I watch other RU-vid rose channels, and the other growers have all experienced slow, weak or spindly growth with this rose. I think they all have them potted. Any thoughts on why yours might be doing so much better?
I’m not sure I haven’t heard any bad reports on this particular variety although I don’t understand how people can be already moaning that it’s weak and spindly bearing in mind it’s only been launched for 12 months many people tend to offer their personal opinions and reviews long before I will ever speak my mind regarding variety realistically no rose should ever be judged after being planted for less than three years. It often takes them that long to fully establish and show all of their characteristics, including colour fragrance and bloom size. Admittedly my plant is still relatively small only standing around 2 feet tall and around 2 feet wide however during his first flush of flowers it’s already producing five or six Scarlett Ruby red canes from the base will be what takes takes it through into next season
@@mariedavenport2372 please don’t Don’t forget your plants are only under 12 months old and really only just signing their feet now mine has been in the ground for a year if now sending up great big new leaders but I’m nearly 4 feet tall
Its a beautiful rose, however once established will be much bigger than 4ft. Mine is in a pot and already its over 3.5ft and still growing like mad. I cut it right back over winter to just a few inches and it's growing faster than any of my ground roses (besides lark ascending) Pretty sure it would easily reach 6/7ft in the ground. I'm not mad though 😅
