PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE PAYMENT : PIP telephone Assessment Review UK 2021 

Bud your lucky you got to do a phone appointment, my appointment was pre covid and my assessor was an a-hole, im partially sighted, long story short i cannot do much on my own cooking cleaning etc, always need help from someone or an aid, but i got denied because i "walked down the hallway okay", a well lit hallway with no obstructions, and when i broke down in tears during the interview my assessor smiled, got refused but took it to court and they ruled in my favour. count yourself lucky my friend.

I watched this and other videos like it on the eve of a job interview with Capita, who employs PIP assessors for DWP. It became clear very quickly that if I were to be successful I would never sleep peacefully again. I seriously had my eyes open. Anyone out there making applications through this system, I have a shiny new respect for you all. You saved me!

I have multiple physical and mental problems, the PIP application is like a cruel, cold, nazi like approach of processing vulnerable people. I feel like everyone should take the government to court.

I was asked how often I have tried to commit suicide, why I have anxiety around eating, what my weight is and told that I can clearly read since I used to be a teacher 😞 horrible experience and left with severe ptsd from this assessment. Fake niceness calling me sweetheart but then telling me ‘look I’m a nurse I know what fibromyalgia is’ when I tried to answer her questions on how I think I got fibromyalgia 😂 I really wish I recorded this. Every question she asked was deliberately a closed question for me to agree to her statement for example, ‘you obviously do not have trouble cooking or cutting up vegetables do you’ This assessment was horrendous and humiliating. She actually asked me how often I change my underwear!!!! The government need to rethink who the hire for these assessments 😞

I just got off the phone for my reassessment and wish I'd finished this video beforehand! I'd gone through all your other vids and had notes on everything. The assessor was nice enough and was asking questions based off of the questionnaire rather than topics #1-13. I'm not confident but I'm relieved it's over. Bleugh-yawn-ick

So its always been the luck of the draw who you get that assess you.

Be wary that assessor cheats by understating your answers to portray you as a fit person. You must record the conversation to take DWP to court.

I got my pip award message today looks like I’m getting high weekly rate for daily living and mobility lower weekly rate. I’m over the moon with how everything turned out it My was for mental health I have really bad anxiety depression and an eating disorder. If anyone starting this journey to try get pip you definitely need evidence. I just want to say a big thank you you’re channel has really helped

I moved from DLA to PIP and luckily i didn’t have to have an assessment they spoke to my mental health worker i got the enhanced daily care and no mobility about 3 years later i had to fill in a review application sent a letter of supporting evidence with it and about six weeks later received a letter saying i was getting it again and they also started paying me the low rate mobility.... im expecting another form in a few months so hopefully it will be the same as last time.

how are you got it back but annoyed that can't go to college or university and my trade exam is in limbo just extended my upstairs ring main nearly finishing off my bedroom

Made a claim 4 months ago.....had to call my local MP to get in contact with them . They just refuse to help me.

They keep canceling the call, without telling me, it's really stressing me out haven't slept atall

Hi im currently waiting for a response with regards to my pip claim ive got accute physios disorder got turned down around 3 years ago and left it at that but have been advised to go all the way this time im currently having tests for parkinsons

How did your assessment go?

If you record the assessment without prior approval, they can throw your claim out, and it won’t go down well at appeal if your then try and bring it up. It has to be approved prior to the assessment

Just to say, no need for duct taping recorders to mobile phones. I think all mobile phones have the facility to "record" all phone calls incoming or outgoing.

Had pip for ptsd for 4 years,got a phone assessment and when I got the reward letter,they reduced my pip 110 pound a month.They didn't take into account about my ptsd,they strongly emphasised on the stroke i had since Because of this focused on my stroke only,they somehow reduced my payments,even though I have suffered ptsd for 4 years prior.The stroke has made me weak and cannot speak properly anymore,but they ignored initial problems.It was a work around to save,no compassion just box ticking driven.Hate these people!

I have been living with HIV for 34 years , diagnosed in 1987 . I have just had my review letter , its so stressful and worrying .

They're making their decision for me now. I read you get backpay from when you made the claim. So when I turned 16 I applied and they denied me and when I appealed the No they said no again. well im assuming now that my appointee (mum) has had a conversation with a nurse evaluating me then I am going to get awarded it. so because this is two years after my first ever claim will I get backpay from then or will it just be backpay to when I maid that second claim back in December last year. if its from my first claim then they'll owe me a lot of money regardless.

what if the nurse your talking about has a lisp or struggles to read? not all nurses are in perfecet physical and mental condition mate. I do hope you the best. we cant judge and expect a lot from people when we are judging and picking on others

Hi Zach, if you don't mind ke asking, what us your disability, what supporting evidence did you send, and how long did it take for them to get back to you? I am hesitant to apply but I'm really struggling! As I type I am in unbearable pain and I rarely go outside. And I say this in the nicest way, even though you're speaking on a personal topic of your health, you seem very cheery. Good for you.

I got my assessment next week, quite worried, I have MS is so hard but when I applied many years ago they refused me, worried it will happen again 😢

It took me nearly three months to send complete my PIP form. I had to keep getting an extension to fill it in. It was a horrible reminder of everything I try not to dwell on (but do anyway)! I also typed my answers and sent them in a folder, pages of them! I feel like I've sent them a dissertation about myself. It's been a week now since it was posted, and my anxiety levels are still through the roof. I got into such a muddle I accidentally sent them my brand new cheque book, bank card and PIN number, can you believe it?! Fortunately I noticed my card was missing and cancelled it. I didn't even realise I'd sent them my cheque book until they sent it back! Now I'm dreading the possibility of getting a re-introduced face-to-face interview. Zach, do let us know how you got on!

What is the best way to record a PIP assessment?

I used to receive personal independence payments and unexplained they stopped my payments. Right before Christmas and my birthday. So I think the reason why personal independence payments stop was because I recently had a medical assessment done to see how I was going and there asked me questions and asked from scale 1-10 how I felt about my everyday basic things I needed to do. I will upload the paper work so you can see. So in the assessment I was asked about my ability to cook and clean. I mentioned food in the process only because I recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. So I have to watch my diet. I forgot to mention to the woman doing the assessment. The reason why I mentioned food was because I recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so there fire it required healthy food for me. On the 19 Th of November I recently had a phone call from DWP in regards of personal independence payment and I just came from being hospitalised from the dangers of diabetes. I have uncontrolled diabetes due to my stress and confusion. I have been told by my Gp it’s impossible for me to work because of my diabetes. My risks are comma or losing a leg.

Dyslexia and ADHD? I recommend you get an Autism test done; both are on the Autism spectrum, and Dyslexia certainly has been confused with Autism, with incorrect testing. With Autism, they must have a doctor do your P.I.P. assessment, and not a nurse, I would have thought it would be the same with Dyslexia and ADHD. DWP did a very bad test for me, and the tester thought Dyslexia was Autism, and said I'm not Dyslexic; a proper Autism test found I'm obviously Autistic. Part of my Autism is Dyslexia and ADHD. You can get an online Autism test through the National Autism Society.

Me I don't understand anything I have been waiting 7 months I haven't had no assessment appointment yet My first application was in July or june 2021 . It's very frustrating I am feeling desperate They have said they qre going to contact me but until now nothing I don't know what is going on ... 7 months on since July 2021 . Medical professions do struggle with with pronunciation of medications and conditions. This is why we tend to shorten it. As a person whose English isn’t my first language, I suffer tremendously with it and tends to get easily embarrassed when I get certain words wrong. Yes, we’re medical professionals but we’re human too and can make mistakes. Saying that, when I talk to patients about a new diagnosis and general conversation regarding their pharmaceuticals, I tend to attempt to say the full name of the drug and medical condition, followed by an explanation of what it is. And at times, we laugh about the ridiculousness of some of the names with the patients.

The worst interrogation was used no notice of answer given were taken and the same question’s asked over and over lastin two and half hours none stop it was crule to watch

hi I dyslexia as well I went DLA assed by dyslexia by British dyslexia association they state i could go university i that time i had been bounced around the government schemes and had was in a bd state i could HARDLY read-write and was on dole for a long time and just need that route get out it I LATER TRIED THAT AND ASwas TOLD BY THE JOB CENTRE if went to UNIVERSITY THaT THEy would STOP MY BENEFIT ON THE GROUNDs I WOULD NOT ba available work ie (piss pot cleaner and other crap and have to claim more money ) what a joke if you are not going to teach anything useful then don't complain about me being stuck on it and don't expect me to be off this stupid benefit system

Pretty adept at swinging that pen around for someone who can't use one or cook. Sorry but you need to be realistic because there are people really in need of these benefits in terrible pain. Sat there for all this time articulating as you are... I'm sorry but I agree with other commenters. You certainly don't mind performing in front of your camera. Shameful really.

My husband has 70% heart failure after having a near fatal heart attack three years ago. He was put on ten different tablets a day but, he's tired all the time and cannot walk far due to angina and breathlessness. I urged him to apply for PIP as we get our shopping online and even the low rate of mobility component could help cover delivery costs etc. He applied last November and had his phone assessment last week. It was carried out by a nurse called 'Anna'. She asked about our living situation etc etc...then she asked about shopping. She was talking about shopping for at least 20 minutes. How do we buy our groceries ...my husband replied 'online' - amazon fresh /morrisons or asda. She then said 'what happens if you forget something in your order and you need it urgently?' - my husband replied 'we've been shopping as a couple for 22 years and we have two grown up children - it's very rare we forget anything'. She then replied 'but, you need this item urgently - what do you do?' - he told her that one of our children would pick the item up from a local shop (in theory - as it never happens). Then she said 'what happens if your children are unable to go to the local shop or the local shop is out of stock of the item you need urgently?' My husband was getting increasingly annoyed at this woman on the phone. He replied that a family member would get it for us -his mum, sister in law etc etc or even our children's friends who are always popping by. Then she said 'what would happen if none of those people were available?' ...this was getting beyond a joke at this point. My husband replied 'we would put it on our next online order' . The assessor was obviously trying to get my husband to say that he would go out to the shop/supermarket but, he wasn't backing down. When it got to the actual descriptors - she barely touched on them. Her attitude changed when my husband reeled off his heart medication - his recent test results and life expectancy (under five years without a heart transplant if his heart medication doesn't control this heart failure). We are waiting the result of his assessment. We're not expecting anything ...probably zero points x

I had my phone call today 2 hours long started off if I worked then ask me if I use a computer and then if I have pets then if I use Facebook or if I drive. for you to get it you have to me real bad and sell it to them what's wrong with you be honest, they also ask why I can't cook chinking or beef I said l like to buy it ready cook or use a microwave the questioning are to try and cut your benefits if they can they will there be designed that way fingers crossed, they let me know between a week to 8 weeks time you can also ask for the report by phone after 3 days.
