Our current Glass Gallery exhibition, "The Personal is Printed" featuring works by Ron Abram and Hester Stinnett. On View at 730 S Broad St, Philadelphia.
Through the prints of Ron Abram and Hester Stinnett, this exhibition presents two artists whose work co-exists in the realms of printed matter, history, and memory. As a part of their studio practice, each artist makes reference to accumulations of books, print culture, and personal archives that they have amassed. An archive is, as critic Buzz Spector has noted, "centripetal, drawing in traces of its concern that coalesce to form clearer-which is to say, denser, more focused-insights into the meaning of its subject." These prints by Abram and Stinnett present the intangible ways that living and working in the midst of such a personally intentional collection is a practice of self-expression, revealing one's own identity or view of the world, and imprints itself upon their artistic practice.
