One of the things I love about your videos, is that you are always very kind. I enjoy your perspective.

For me as an autistic person it is all about sensory issues. So I only wear elasticated waist band pants and natural materials. Also nothing form fitting and I hate bras. I prefer black cause then I just grab a shirt and pants and I always have a combo. I started incorporating some purple lately. You made good points. I'd like to add that most people won't look at others and think omg what are they wearing. And if they do I stopped caring.

I wear sneakers, a simple jeans, a plain t-shirt and a sweater almost everyday. Because it is so simple and comfy. They are clean and neat and very easy to maintain. And most of all I love it! ☺️🌸

A month ago I started wearing skirts, and dresses, because I was going trough it and wearing those items make me feel good. I noticed that I felt more myself and comfortable, even tho I might seem “overdressed” I actually felt more in place then ever. I never walked outside with so much confidence because I actually loved looking in the mirror and seeing what I was wearing. I also got so many compliments and of course dresses look nice because I look feminine I also think it’s the confidence and happiness i showed wearing it. Now when I look back I think about all these years I wore jeans that I just wanted to fit in but I never actually felt comfortable in it never myself. I discovered that I love to dress feminine and that’s okay. It was a BIG step for my personal style, and I love watching video’s like these because I love to see that every person is different and every thing looks good on someone Else. A lovely video lia❤️

Perfect video. It was cherry on top after I have read for thousands of hours about proportions and body architecture and colors and all of the stuff your video just brings it all together and totally makes sense. Thank you. I also would like to say that everybody is perfect. We would never say looking at the a dog or a bird or a plant that they not perfect. They are just how they are . When we use words perfect or not perfect in an addressing somebody’s qualities we are just expressing our judgment.

I think most of us tend to be altogether too self-critical. As I approach 60 and look back at photographs of my 20s, 30s and 40s I think I was too conscious of "style" and too critical of myself, always having felt not good enough for not being as slim as society expects me to (increasingly so). I have always worn clothes I like and I still prefer colourful clothes to the "neutral" style that is considered fashionable, elegant, suitable or whatever, but gosh, I think I've wasted too much time on thinking about it... My own standards of comfort and enjoyment should be the only ones that matter, and not whether I look "respectable" in other people's eyes! Hard lessons to learn, sometimes. I think this was an interesting episode, nonetheless, maybe because I've made it a (bad?!) habit to think about clothes and style too much lol.

I love the color of that shirt on you. Very fun video. I am 51 this year and finally coming into my own style wise, meaning i just wear what I like and feel comfortable in. I have a fairly simple capsule wardrobe with a few fun pieces added in. I can only wear one brand of shoes because I have weird feet, and that's okay even if people find them ugly, haha! I get told I look bad in yellow because I have black hair and I wear it anyway!

very enjoyable video! Cutting the sleeves made such an improvement to that shirt! Imho it looked a bit boring before, though the colour is nice. But now, with the high neckline and no sleeves, it got an interesting touch! Personally I can't have my shirts so near my neck, or I get crazy. But it really looks good (especially with your short hair, I think shoulder-long hair would kill the effect.)

There is such good advice In this video. I would rather have watched this than most of the "personal style" content I've consumed over the years. You acknowledge that personal style is often inconsistent, contradictory, and rule-breaking - because we're humans, not brands. That's one of the most important parts about personal style for me, because I've made mistakes like that before. As a teen, I thought that people had to know who I am based on my clothes so I would fall into stereotypes based on my interests. For example, I like dark, heavy music, so I would wear all-black, all the time. However, I would feel bored and bland from the lack of creativity. "But this is how I'm supposed to dress!" No, no, no. Just no. As another example, I'm non-binary, so I used to try to dress as androgynous as possible all the time. But that's not right for me. I'm back to wearing whatever I want, regardless of the assumptions people may make. If they assume who I am based on my looks, that's on them. The funny thing is, I have always had a personal style to some degree! I just didn't know, because I thought "style" was about being easily categorised. I truly found my style once I stopped trying to label it and instead focussed on what I liked. I discovered I love clothes that are creative, sustainable, good quality, and/or made by me. Clothes that I'm proud of. If I'm comfortable, I like the way I look in the mirror, _and_ I'm proud to wear my clothes - then that's my style. It's harder to find people who dress like me on Pinterest or on the street, but I feel more like myself in my clothes. It's a trade-off I'm happy to make. Anyway, great video! I like how you changed outfits throughout, very fun lol

Thank you for discussing masculine and feminine energies! I totally agree that everyone has these qualities, and that it is very healthy to allow exploration of these parts of ourselves. I tend to prefer looking more androgynous with my style, but there are times that I love to get very dressed up, curl my hair, do my makeup, and be extra feminine. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. That burnt orange tank top is such a beautiful color as well!

@JuliaKirsty Месяц назад
I love your perspectives, you also seem to be very eclectic and energetic. Also most style systems, body typing systems etc. are about making women look more feminine and men more masculine. As soon as a person has a rather androgynous aesthetic or style, these rules don't work for them but can be used to actually mindfully create the specific visual effect you prefer. It CAN help to figure out your personal style, but I feel like it is most likely gonna drag you in a direction you won't feel home at. I personally like a specific combination of feminine and masculine elements in my outfits and they can lean more to one or the other direction. I think many people just don't get along with the image of a woman loving to look like a tomboy or a man loving to highlight his feminine features. Or let's say a person that just doesn't dress distinctively feminine or masculine at all and their overall look follows that. I am so glad that I don't care about other people's opinions on my looks anymore. If I wanna look a certain way that day, I will go ahead and make myself look that way. But most of the time my outfits are rather simple because I don't want people to only look at my outfit, I don't wanna HIDE behind my outfit. I want people to see me, no matter if they like what they see or don't. You're cool, I'll definitely stick around. I also like your look, I would definitely wear some of the pieces you showed or something similar. Btw my favorite denim/chambray shirt is from the men's section and it fits exactly the way I wanted it to fit, the color is perfect, the length is perfect, I was never able to find something like that in the women's section. I wear that shirt ALL THE TIME and I really want more pieces like that, those that feel like myself and actually fit the way I like etc. I don't care if I look less feminine in what I wear, I never felt very feminine to begin with. I used to force myself into wearing more feminine clothes and honestly... looking back at old photos really makes me cringe. That's never been me. And I also don't think it ever looked good. I also get a lot of fashion inspo from male actors and artists in general. Women barely ever inspire me to dress a certain way. Unless you're Lara Croft, then you might actually inspire me. The OG one, not the more recent version. I'm from Germany btw. if you have any online shop recommendations that ship across Europe I'll go look into them. You got such a beautiful spirit, stay safe and protect it very well.

Loved your takes on this topic! I've been hugely into fashion (and worked in fashion on and off) but am now doing no buy july (and extending to august also) to change my relationship to consumption. I am using the time to shop my own closet, edit my wardrobe, and revamp/rev up my personal style with what I already have or can make out of what I have in the house. I have several style streams that I dress from, in a combination that is unique to me. I love your style and your color palette!

Interesting topic! Thank you so much. I look at my wardrobe and realize l tend to prefer warm tones and also I have lots of prints, especially flower prints. Everything seems a bit hippie, and I think over time, as I quit buying new clothes about 8 years ago, that helped define my style and stick to what I like. I may be judged as not wearing age appropriate clothes and I don’t know if my clothes reflect me. But it’s all about how I feel. Blazers and formal business clothes just don’t feel right on me. Big kiss to you! You have great style and the hair suits you so much!

This is a video I'm so glad you decided to make! Personal style/clothing is something I'm interested in, but would also say I'm minimal-ish. I really don't like those kinds of systems. It's like everyone today want to classify things into rigid systems, like an 18th century biologist but with arbitrary characteristics based on social conventions. Color theory, Kibbe, honestly I'm tired of it and tired of how people manage to avoid all the criticism of gender stereotypes and ethnocentrism/racism by calling them objective evaluations of what looks good.
