The tiny town of Peru, KS was a prominent town in the early years of the last century but since the main highway bypassed the village it has continued deteriorate. Today it's only a shell of the town that it once was. Watch this video and see what happened.
Oh, and don't forget to Subscribe to The Lone Road Ranger channel. We appreciate it.

I’ve never been to Peru. Nice tour. I enjoyed the insets of the buildings that were once there.

I 💖 USA road trip videos. What I liked particularly about your video it was informative with a nice commentary and the comparison of the then and now with the old photos is a great idea. Is it possible that you can make the font slightly larger on the old photos, so the viewer can read them clearly. Anyway, I've subscribed and I'm looking forward to more. 👍🚘🤗

The L on the second floor of the grocery stood for lodges. Eastern Star for the ladies and Shrine for the gentlemen.

Were those two doors on the second floor of the old grocery store?
@jackellison8518
@jackellison8518 Месяц назад
Yes, I believe you're right. There was probably a balcony there at one time, where they could walk out and use to relax and talk to people walking by on the sidewalk below which a lot of people did in the old days. Thanks for the comment.

Another thought about that. Those doors could've been just windows early on, like the building on the right.

The mayor of Peru needs to talk to the Mayor of Ragland, Alabama, they have a lot in common.

@@jackellison8518 Run down towns that were substantial at one time.
@jackellison8518

Absolutely. Most of these dying towns were prominent and proud. Since the loss of railroads and industry, they are vanishing. Thank you for the comment.

Barack Obama pronounced it : " Peee-ru ? Which is correct ?
@jackellison8518
@jackellison8518 15 дней назад
Well, I can't say for sure but the old folks at the Grocery Store called it Pay-ru, but I've heard the truck drivers call it Peee-ru like you said. Still others call it Per-ru. I call it Peru, so take your pick. Good question though.
