Considering it's coming from "Hit the Lever!!!" Konami, I think they've seen how much money FIFA "Surprise Mechanic" and decide F* it let's just make it a Free-To-Play-Pay-To-Win and hide behind "It's a Gacha, and not Lootbox/Gambling" argument.

Well, you have to think like the developer... of course it's better for us, the consumer, to have these games as a live service. However, the mod community update the roster of these games for free since forever. NBA 2K14 for example, the current NBA roster can be downloaded. So if a game like Fifa goes live service, people can simply crack the game and then update the roster themselves. And considering my experience with NBA 2K, the fans actually does a much better job than the developers. Maybe that's the reason why annual sport games is still a thing

What you guys are missing is they had a beta and in the new trailer the game looks like crap because they've gone crossplay with mobile. Some controls were taken away to accommodate mobile cause they are after that pay to win mobile money. It's not looking good.

I used to respect PES,the games had options to manually change rosters of all the teams,imagine such technology,so advanced fifa charges 70€ just to go that every year. Ah yes PES 2008 was great.

Remember back in the day when Football games used to be fun. When you could physically play with friends rather than online. Playstation 2 was it for me, ever since the playstation 3 came out, it's been downhill for football games. Last football game I truly enjoyed was PES 2010.

PES 2020 f2p version was fine, it filled the void of the fifa couch play days for me. The game is very generous and I never felt like I need to pay money. I know a lot of outsiders always have a dirty look towards Fifa/PES because it's a recycled copy and paste game but that's the total norm these days

Know what's really bad? Rebranding a ~25+ years franchise (I remember playing it on the SNES) and then picking a new logo for your Free to Play outing that basically looks like a very stylized € symbol… I mean… nobody thought about this? Really? But besides this, maybe they're just trying to try to get all the money without damaging the original brand.😉

Going free to play doesn't seem too bad for a modern sports title, considering buy to play ones have the f2p model anyway. Unless f2p starts charging access for specific teams or leagues but then who would bother with it. Fifa is a brilliant scam, free to play business model but buy to play entry. Every year players buy a new iteration and really the only thing they are paying for is to reset their ultimate team progress. Tbf not just Fifa, I am not much of a sports games guy but the ones I have played (in recent years) are heavy on the in game purchases.

I have to support this. I have no choice. Not bought a FIFA game since the one that came free with my PS4 in 2016. PES used to be better than FIFA. But FIFA had more rights which made it succeed off of fans of football. eFootball is an odd name, but the name is smart. They get associated with the sport better by rebranding as a potential definitive football game.

Maybe EA won't use each new release as an excuse to reset your microtransactions if their competitor is free to play. A man can dream. Honestly a lot of these sport games are a literal race to the bottom with monetization. It's mostly for normies, not gamers. Of course they're more susceptible to the schemes of big publishers like EA, 2K and so on. Me personally I'm staying as far away as possible from this cancer. Admittedly this is easier when you're not a sports fan.

Haven't played it for about 5 years now and it was the only sports game I played, but I have played mario kart and crash tram racing if they count as sports games haha
