We recommend Vectric software as the toolpath generating software of choice to pair with your YetiTool CNC SmartBench. Its easy to use for new and experienced CAD users, and offers a great range of features from cutting to carving.
We typically recommend Cut2D Pro for entry level users, and Vcarve Pro for users wanting to utilise more advanced features such as 3d toolpath generation.
Another great addition to Vcarve Pro over Cut2D pro, is the inbuilt photo carving feature. You can easily import a photo, then Vcarve will generate toolpaths with varying depths to imitate gradation of highlights and shadows in your image.
This makes for a great gift or personal keepsake. We utilised this feature to carve out a portrait of Jake's cute pooches Mac and Cheese. What better models than your furry friends.
We utilised a Carbitool carbide tipped 2 flute 90 degree V bit for the carvings and to chamfer the outside profile. We then switched over to a Carbitool compression bit with short up-cut to finish the carvings.
