This deleted scene takes place before Jeff buries his mother in the Indian burial ground. so the entity that he lurks in that place: The wendigo (taking the form of his mother) tries to finish convincing him to make that mistake. Practically seduces him. Even the presence of the devil makes the kitten aggressive.
