The video was recorded in February 1988 in our place at castle MOKRICE and ČATEŽ OB SAVI (Slovenia) They filmed under very high security conditions...everything in a 1 km radius was closed and we thought they were having military exercises. Minor "accident" during filming : Vampire ( played by Ian McKellen) really bit the bride's neck during the filming (to swelling).......and the next day apologized her with a large bouquet of flowers. The roll of Bridge was played by then 21 years old student Daniela Čolić from Croatia. The coachman is played by Jack Bond who is also the director of this video. His face is hidden by a black scarf (video 0.31 min) It has been 35 years since then, but the castle is still magnifice.....video spot as well.
Dear Iris, me too. since video was released in1986 , shooted in Mokrice, ex Yugoslavia. And just a few years ago, got the same info for sir Ian McKellen... but you live and you learn. Cheers
My mom loved this song and since she didn't remember the title or the singer, just some random words and the video story, I searched it for hours until I found it. It was one of the last songs she heard. She enjoyed it so much and used to see and laugh at the great story with Sir Ian as a vampire. Thank you Pet Shop Boys for this and the other beautiful songs you made.
That's beautiful that your Mum was able to see this video again, I'm sure it meant a lot to her to share the experience with you as well. Sending lots of love.
@@michaeldickens7493 I love music that makes your heart feel like a teenager ! Wishing you well with the grieving process, never easy I understand .... ❤
I've been a fan of the Pet Shop Boys since back in the day. I'm now 53 years old and this track brings back sweet memories...During this Corona virus lock down, I revisiting all my favourite tracks and reliving the memories...
So true...i got here from Soft Cell...which i got from watching Top of the Pops 1989 Christmas show. Those were the days...Christmas lunch watching Top of the Pops
My late wife loved this song and gave here a good laugh b4 she passed away 3 years ago-Pet Shop Boys made some fabulous records and this was one of them.
@@NFFC1865 I C I didn't get OMD right, w/the G :):) To be honest, I've never even heard of them, or their music B 4...Maybe their abbreviation, OMD though !! I admit I really shouldn't have replied to Kordo by saying more like those other groups, as I don't wanna come across as being opinionated, when I think it's a fact :):) I just listen to Enola Gay and it's OK...IMHO, a little too happy, joyful sounding...Not saying, their making the Hiroshima, little boy atomic bomb a happy thing...Just the music...Just Sayin' :):)
@@davidgeerling9871 if you have never heard of OMD maybe you were living on the moon at the time.🤣🤣🤣🤣 Enola Gay is a symbolic song, its actually more about the pilot who flew the plane that dropped the bomb as a pose to the tragedy. The name of the plane was called Enola Gay, named after the pilots mother.
When I was a kid I would stand in front of the TV whenever they played this song. My jaw dropped every single time like it was the first time I ever watched it. I was mesmerized! Makes the same effect 25 years later lol
I came back to this in a rather roundabout way - a VGM jazz cover ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i4UZAVEixq4.html made me look up the original VGM and it of Heart. Such nostalgia 💖
@@kr_olik Hello, I am Maria and I am 48 years old and I am from Athens, Greece. I was raised in Belgium though since Greece became member of the European Union in 1981 and my family moved there to get better jobs. There I grew up with A-ha, it was the first pop group I felt in love with - especially Morten Harket! - and you girls reminded me of these good old days! I actually think that "Take on Me" could today compete very easily against the finest dance tunes of all times. Don't you agree? By the way, congratultions on your good music taste and also for seeing A-ha in concert - I never did!
One of the best Music Videos ever made in the 80's. My heart's start missing a beat every time. Pet Shop Boys, was one of the new wave music pioneers in the 80's.
When I first started dating my wife in southern California back in the summer of 2012, this song happened to come on radio one night on the way home from work. She wasn't in the car, but i fell in love with her hearing this and thinking about her. We are married and have 2 kids now.
Loved 80s music and loved this song, Pet Shop Boys in general, and just enjoyed it, danced to it and still do. Still love this music and enjoy it so much, because it was and still is the best great era in music. Amazing and timeless.
I just heard this song for the first time today, and immediately realised the following: 1. One of India's most well known song of 1980s'90s, Saat Samundar's (OST: of Vishwatma) opening tune was copied from the background tune of this song, and also... 2. The song Turn Back Time by Aqua also has a very similar type of rendering the lyrics....gn all
+maia993 : Hi Maia, I have always had an issue with Vampire movie characters...They still scare the crap out of me. It's funny isn't it, that even though vampires are fictional, yet they can still bother, unsettle and unnerve us. But I still really love listening to Pet Shop Boys, they really are Great.
One of the great things about been a 14 year old back in 1987 was that songs like this is what was on the radio and what was played at school dances (do they still have them anymore?). Loved the Pet Shop Boys from the very beginning, seen them in concert at least 3 times now and trust me, their music never gets old! (Plus it's so cool that Gandalf/Sir Ian McKellan himself makes an appearance here!)
Every time I see you something happens to me Like a chain reaction between you and me My heart starts missing a beat My heart starts missing a beat Every time Oh oh oh, every time Oh oh oh, every time If I didn't love you, I would look around for someone else But every time I see you, you have the same effect My heart starts missing a beat My heart starts missing a beat Every time Oh oh oh, every time Oh oh oh, every time Every time I hear your heart beat next to me I'm in love with you; I mean what I say I'm in love with you, and you don't know What it means to be with you (Beat) (Beat) (Beat) (H-H-Heartbeat) (Beat) (Beat) (Beat) (H-H-Heartbeat) Every time I see you, no matter what we do There's a strange reaction, can you feel it too? My heart starts missing a beat My heart starts missing a beat Every time Oh oh oh, every time Oh oh oh, every time I hear your heart beat next to me I'm in love with you; I mean what I say I'm in love with you, and you don't know What it means to be with you Oh oh oh, every time Oh oh oh, every time Oh oh oh, every time Oh oh oh, every time (Beat) (Beat) Every time (Beat) (Beat) Every time (Beat) (H-H-Heartbeat) (Beat) (H-H-Heartbeat) (Beat) (H-H-Heartbeat) (Beat) (H-H-Heartbeat) (H-H-Heartbeat)
Blast from a gorgeous past ❤...just watched them on TV tonight...relived my younger years with pure genius of the 80's....at 50, pulls at the heart strings ❤️
This song wasn't as popular as 'West End Girls', ' Domino Dancing', 'It's A Sin' or 'What Have I Done To Deserve This' in America, but it sounds just as good as any of them. The Pet Shop Boys are musical geniuses.
I was 30 years of age when I was blessed with this musical masterpiece now 62 and the boys are still delivering with hotspot, but heart just makes me so emotional.
Oh me too! I’m 50 and feel so privileged to have enjoyed the 80’s music all through my teenage years. My kids now listen to it all. I so miss those years.
Im born in 2002 and its making me nostalgic as well. Its like longing for a better time that you never got to see. But i am happy my parents made me grow up with 60s/70s/80s music and movies that they loved. Those days are timeless even for people born long after.
Fantastic video. By the way, it's filmed in ex Yugoslavia in a small village Mokrice (Slovenia). The young, beautiful lady in white is a Yugoslav. No more such great music videos. Cheers !
I have came here after watching Saat Samundar Par song Indian version which is hittest here. It was made from this song only. LOVE FROM INDIA TO YUGOSLAVIA(no matter in memories only)
Genius! Tenant, McKellan, the homage for all the British actors who were the masters of horror, the production... Still remember the first time I saw this marvellous clip decades ago. Masterpiece! ❤🙏🎼
I remember it was spring '88 and in primary school we were all carried away by this song with the 'vampire video' - Their videos made such an impact and they deserve more recognition for this
Only Americans are obsessed with perfect teeth. And the orthodontic work frequently has the side-effect of elongating their faces, so they end up looking like Tony Robbins.
I was a child when I was listed this song over and over again, on MTv music. It was wonderful time that never will be back, everything was original , biological
TOTP on a friday night around 7pm. Good times Melanie. I was born in 85 so 90s was what I can remember really. Not a day goes by without me listening to 80s music
Is anybody listening to this song for its own sake and not nostalgia? I started listening to this band only last week and I feel I'd been missing out all these years.
Best Duo EVER!!!! ‘West End Girls’ heralded the dawn of their ‘Imperial Phase’, during which they scored four No.1 singles, also topping the charts with ‘It’s A Sin’ (1987), ‘Always On My Mind’ (1987) and ‘Heart’ (1988).
