PETA Attacks Animal Crossing 

For anyone that didn't see it, PETA released a video where they, "raided" the museum, and bullied Blathers. This is especially funny, because in order to get the museum, you need to donate fish and bugs, and PETA, had the full museum upgrade on their island. Not to mention, they were bullying Blathers.... a literal owl!

PETA doesn't even realize you can't wear leather or fur in animal crossing to begin with. All of those clothes a specifically labeled as pleather or faux-fur. They didn't even touch the fucking game

As a vegan, I can confidently say that there is nothing wrong with fishing for sport in moderation, as long as it’s not harming the fish or if you literally need to kill it to survive. But even if I thought fishing in general was a problem, ITS JUST A GODDAMN VIDEOGAME

I know cartoon animals shouldn't be held to the same biological standards as real life animals, and that plenty of the animal characters (that would naturally be carnivores if they were realistic) are still willing to eat fruit, but it seems more than a bit asinine to point out a cat or a dog or wolf or owl villager or whatever and go "oh my god that thing needs to go vegan!" Hey PETA, if I tried to get my cat to go vegan, he'd be fucking dead.

The "don't use fur/leather" point is especially terrible because those products in the game are fake, I'm not saying that as if "haha they're just code they're not real" I mean as in literally the game specifies they're faux fur and pleather

The thing that bothers me about all of this is that blathers openly promises the animals you donate are in good hands. He absolutely despises bugs, but promises they will live a good life in the museum. If you want to learn more about a bug he will tell you, maybe not happily, but he is factual all the same. And if you look at the environments these animals are kept in, they're pretty clean and have lots of space

How can peta say that animal crossing isn't animal friendly?

Peta is definitely going to do something about Kirby the forgotten land, I can already see them complaning about king Deedeedee wearing fur and Kirby swallowing animals

i love how i watch this after watching a video of someone going over posts of people being pos. Like one where people sell cats for free, certain people get them and color them with markers for dog fights, betting on which one lives longer via their color.... Yet Peta doesnt talk about that, but instead raids a game where NPCs dont react to your text whatsoever?

In my opinion, they have no leg to stand on, or high horse to ride, when they legit kill animals "tainted" by humans. You cant say you are for animal rights and in the same vein kill the animals in your care as some kind of purification.

Going to disagree on the Tom Nook "exploiting" you thing! Tom Nook is a genuinely good person. There are a few videos exploring his character but all I'm going to say is that he's gives you a NO INTEREST & NO RUSH LOAN! you only have to pay exactly what he loaned you meaning he gets absolutely no profit from the loan and there is no set date to when it has to be payed off so you can choose when you pay it off. And Tom doesn't force you to get a loan The game forces you to get a loan but Tom Nook doesn't say or do anything to force you to get a loan.

Did Peta not notice that there is actually no leather in the game? Every time the game specifies the material it says "pleather" aka synthetic leather. The game devs did that because they thought it would be fucked up to have leather in a game where you can have cow neighbors. They didn't have to do that but they did anyway, Peta should love this game

I’m genuinely astounded Peta has said nothing on Kirby and the Forgotten Land yet. Since the main antagonists is a group of animals called the Beast Pack, and the player can defeat them using Fire, Buzz Saws, Bombs, and Guns. It’s all cartoonish but it’s also far less tame than this

the fact that you NEED bugs and fish to progress through the game makes this even funnier for me

6:27 blathers is over party? well one, they had to donate things to him to have a museum(not just the fish in it, but the entire thing, you need to donate for him to open the museum), two blathers is a bird, so fishing and killing insects is something they naturally do, thats like cancelling black widows for domestic abuse

As someone who personally doesn’t eat sea food cause I don’t think it’s good for many reasons I couldn’t care less if you fish in Animal Crossing, it’s a god damn game, in fact it’s one of my favourite things to do in the game. I wish Peta would do stuff to actually help the environment and animals and stuff instead of killing animals, ‘protesting’ a game after spending money on the game a bunch of times, scaring kids with horrible videos (that I once saw them showing people in the middle of a city without permission from the people or anything), trying to cancel (?) someone who died and so much more

Basically, you dont actually hurt the fish or bugs in anyway, you can be able to release them into the wild, and donating them to blathers will make him take care of them.

Something that is even more hilarious is that the game is explicit about things being pleather/vegan leather or faux fur. Also dog houses CAN be good. Some dogs thrive in outdoor environments. I grew up with hunting dogs (my dad subsistence hunted). They loved being the the backyard and had heated dog houses for the winter.

They act as though fishing in a video game is the same as fishing in real life. I feel like having to buy the equipment, find the right location and spend time to actually get a catch is way more of a commitment than just pressing A on my switch.

My favourite thing in animal crossing is the museum! My man Blather is grossed out by bugs and still tells me loads about them in detail. Also makes sure that they are well looked after. I love walking around the butterfly house.
