I'm no expert in this genre of music, but I am a middle-aged Englishman so I thought I would highlight some of the more specific cultural references. (I'll probably miss some.) * "I switch suits like I'm Mr. Benn" - Mr Benn was the name of a popular children's cartoon from 1971-2, where the main character (who always started off wearing a suit and bowler hat) goes to a fancy dress costume shop, tries on something, then has a magical adventure appropriate to that costume. * "Mess with the cake and I'll battenberg him" - Battenberg cakes are a delicious sweet treat, yellow and pink sponge wrapped in marzipan. They are most famously made by a brand called Mr Kipling, hence the next line from Pete. Also, 'Battenberg markings' are a high visibility checkerboard pattern on many emergency services vehicles in the UK, so Bas is basically saying he'll put him in an ambulance. * "Dipped like a rich tea biscuit" - This is a kind of biscuit, or cookie, that is extremely popular in the UK , especially for dipping into a cup of tea. You wait until it gets a bit soggy, then eat that bit. * "Big fat dollop of cash in my hand, chain hang like bollocks" - Big fat dollop is a term usually used for a quantity of a thick liquid like cream, or ice cream. Boilocks are balls. * "Look you pillock, talking trollop" - Pillock means dumbass. Trollop is an unflattering name for a woman of loose virtues. * "I was locked in an HMP" - This stands for Her Majesty's Prison, and means he was serving time. * I'm a diamond geez" - Short for diamond geezer, this means a good solid guy, a top notch dude. Connects with the implied 'diamond in the rough'. * "Del Boy, Peckham, they recognise me" - Del Boy is the main character of a huge sitcom in the UK called Only Fools and Horses, about a family of grifters based in Peckham in London. * "If he wanna get loud and he wanna get lairy" - Lairy is just a slang term for being loud and obnoxious.

One thing that I love that P&B do is their songs BUILD. Like the first two verses are just solo. Then they do a few switch ups. By the end they're just trading bar for bar at top speed. It's fucking mental.

I've no idea who 91 shots is, only ever heard them make beats for Pete and Bas but their production is just constantly reaching new levels. Every beat i hear is madder and madder.

I swear this track gets better every time I listen to it. Bas with a Betty Crocker reference was dumb: "Breaking him down like steps on the back of the box of the Crocker, bet he (Betty) take that". And Pete was just next level.

yo Skoot can I share my thoughts here? I love your reactions; since you're a musician yourself you've got a lot of credibility here and you catch things that 90% reactors don't. So if you need 3 hours to dissect this type of masterpieces, then go for it - I'm definitely here with you on a ride and perhaps many others who appreciate these artists. I'd rather spend 3 hrs with you then 3 hrs with 30 reactors with shallow reactions and analysis. "Various angles. Box. Rectangle, dashed in the ground all bruised and mangled" - He beat up a guy then threw him into a rectangular coffin/shallow grave "An another one of them gets dipped like a Rich Tea biscuit" - These are English biscuits (cookies) that are very thin so when you dip them in tea they melt away... "Mr Kipling" is a UK cake company, they make Battenburg cakes. "Knock down Ginger" relates to an 100+ year old name for knock and run - "knock knock Ginger." "but the mash bang's quicker" is a fun play on words with "bangers and mash" sausages and mashed potato which is quite a fast meal to make. Mash bang meaning a gun obviously. "Superkings and a bottle of bourbon" - Superkings are extra long cigarettes that used to be popular in the UK in the 70s/80s. "Let that rip when I'm whippin that German" - German car, Merc, possibly a reference to the Royal Family being German as he already used the word Battenburg which is a cake, but also the old german name for the British Royal Family. "Delboy, Peckham they recognise me" - Reference to the British TV show "Only Fools and Horses", main character is called Del Boy and concocts dodgy dealings in Peckham, London.

The Betty Crocker reference in the first Bas bar, man I wish you grabbed it but I can forgive since the shit is so LAYERED (like cake ahhhh). It's such a visual, you take your opponent and just simplify defeating him down to "pour mix" "add butter" "stir" "bake at 400" and he's done. Or you're just breaking the opponent down literally the way the steps are broken down on the box. Either way it works. And that sets up the "bet he take that... bait" like he's just layin out the clues but you can't trace him, pins in a haystack. Then we have Weight, or wait? On the beat pause. He tells the listener to wait but actually he was setting up for the moving weight bar. And we're moving weight in and outside the gym to get ripped. But we're moving weight inside the gym to get ripped muscular, and outside the gym we're moving fuckin drugs and the customers are getting ripped. I don't think I'm reading too much in any of it. Like you say Bas leaves no stone unturned.
