@@MontagZoso But JD Vance was over there all for 6 months as a military journalist and said he was lucky he didn't see any real combat. Who is the toughest now, hmmm??? 😉
Pete just cuts through the BS so well. Lots of people can identify the BS, but few can explain so clearly and so succinctly, and especially without getting angry.
INDEED... Just like he eloquently called out these hosts for being disingenuous when saying Pence was a great VP and ignoring Alyssa voted and worked for someone like Trump.
Cutting through the BS is one thing, but how about cutting through the complex issues of international diplomacy? Pete's sexual orientation might complicate relations with countries that have harsh anti-LGBTQ+ laws, and his domestic policies could lead to increased debates over transgender athletes in sports.
Answering questions is great, but how about answering the tough ones about how he'll handle international relations as a gay president? Countries with strict anti-LGBTQ+ laws may not be as receptive, and his domestic policies could lead to increased tensions over issues like transgender athletes in women's sports.
@@antimediaman9354 Gay people have to deal with hate and discrimination all the time, he's probably more ready to face international leaders than many past presidents. He's faced it all and has been able to stay composed and answer clearly and concisely. He'd make a great vice president or president.
@@ChristopherJohnsonArtist Oh, sure, sure, this guy’s been through a lot, so now he’s ready to tango with Putin, Xi Jinping, and the rest of the global mafia, right? I mean, just because he handled some local jerks at the bar, he’s suddenly the guy to handle international negotiations? Look, you’re missing the point here. It ain’t just about how he handles things-those foreign leaders ain't exactly gonna roll out the red carpet for him. They don’t care if he can keep his cool; they’re playing chess, not poker. So yeah, let’s not start giving out nuclear codes to every guy who got a hard time in high school.
@@ilpilp7423nobody is interpreting it incorrectly. He said what he said and it’s absurd. Why would a parent get more votes? I’m a parent and it only takes 5 seconds to realize how ridiculous it is. If a couple has 5 children do they each get 5 extra votes (which would equal 10 votes for 5 people)? Or do they fraction them so that they each get 2.5 votes? You may not know this… but America has a pretty sketchy record with giving people fractions of votes… It was an absurd thing to say. It seems like all of his talking points are culture war issues that have nothing to do with actual governing, which is probably why no one takes him seriously. I don’t know a single well to do Trump supporter that thinks Vance isn’t a clown. The only reason to defend him is for political reasons, not the other way around as you stated. 😂
Vance literally said parents should have extra votes because they have a direct investment for the future. How’s was that not insulting to people without kids making them seem less worthy.
Only 82 members of the current Congress have served (18 are democrats), and there are less than 3 Cabinet members that have served. This means the majority of the body that has the authority to authorize war has never served, and should a crisis occur the majority of cabinet members who can step up as commander in chief haven’t either. Most who follow orders don’t like those numbers.
@@laralaralara7335 AMEN. The way so many great Dems have come out and stayed on message FINALLY need to do this always. I don’t know why this didn’t happen the last 8 years. How everything changed 10000% in 2 weeks is beyond me. I’m glad but again this is how it always needs to be. This is exactly how the lunatic right wing gained so much power.
@@laralaralara7335 Pete is still young and has a long career ahead of him. He left a lasting impression back in 2020 and has only gained from there. I woudn't be surprised if he's running for the top in 2028 or 2032, assuming we don't risk elections vanishing after this one.
Sure, Pete is a smooth talker, but let's not forget that international relations could get complicated with a gay president. Countries like Saudi Arabia, where homosexuality is punishable by death, might not engage with us. Also, Pete's policies on issues like transgender athletes in women's sports could have serious implications.
I am excited! I think she's going to pick Josh.. I like all of the options but I would rather Pete or Josh... Actually, I don't care, I just want her!! 😂😂
Maybe be like the one between Trump and Biden, now that was embarrassing and going down in history as the most embarrassing debate.Because Top Democrats like Kamala lie to the people about Biden Senility.
Democrats have a number of completely qualified individuals, who would be ready day one to step up, to choose from. I have a very hard time thinking of any comparable individual in the GOP.
No...he's a corporate stooge. Major giveaways to airline companies, no accountability for them...He is just a sweet talking type...who will do nothing in times of crisis. He also botched the Palestine train tragedy fallout.

Pete is extremely intelligent. He is doing a lot for our infrastructure. Not everyone gets an A+ for a job. He can't be VP. The country isn't ready for a gay man just yet. I have no problem with him. I like listening to him speak, but I am concerned folks won't agree.
He and his spouse are excellent, loving, devoted parents. The kids also have wonderful grandparents; the family moved to Michigan to be close to the grandparents.
81 yr old who has fought prejudice and racism most of my life because of where I grew up. 20yrs in the military changed me alot, it taughr me to respect more. Proud to say I will fully support Kamala and totally accept Pete. They are both exceptional and deserving.
You mean the woman who was automatically given all the delegate endorsements without earning a single vote from the people, and the guy who got a secretary job he had no qualifications or experience in exchange for endorsing Biden during a critical juncture to take out the progressive candidates during the primaries? They both have positive qualities, but I think the word deserving is a bit of a stretch.
Master communicator. Super intelligent. Grounded. Real. Caring. Thoughtful. Dedicated to making our country better! Pete Buttigieg would make a GREAT pick for VP!!!
I'm hoping Madame VP Harris chooses him. I like Pete Buttigieg and he'd be a great VP. I like Mark Kelly but because I'm in AZ I believe we need to keep him here.
what i love about pete is contrasting him with so many politicians is he fully answers questions directly and provides examples and doesnt just get caught in talking point loops his PR person told him to focus on. Compare this questioning to Sununu's from this week and you can tell which one just avoids questions and sticks to talking points with no substance
He's a good speaker and makes good points, but he also memorizes well. Every point he made in this interview, he has made in all the others. It's easy to think that a politician is saying it for the first time, but remember that they constantly go around saying the same stuff.
IMHO Buttigieg is the best choice for VP... now, not "some time when the US is mature enough". He's a great communicator and he is using that skill to go on Fox News to try and bridge the gap between liberals and conservatives, easily fending off attacks from the hosts without belittling the audience (unlike many others that dig the trench deeper by coming across as arrogant). I believe the US needs someone like that asap, and the fact that Harris/Buttigieg is the polar opposite of Trump/Vance is would thoroughly disenchant the whole MAGA movement if the Democrats were successful.
No one would have said America was ready for a black President when Obama won, or a female Black-Asian Woman Vice President when Biden and Harris won. I hope Harris continues to be bold and just trusts the voters.
Pete Buttijeg has had a HORRIBLE time as US Secretary of Transportation: on EVERY front (trucking, cargo ships, train tragedy, airports…water, land, sea & air.)
Why do people keep prolonging this mistaken statement? The USA is really ready for Pete B. Who cares who he is married to? I don't and I know many, many people that are ready for VP Buttigieg.

As much as I would like that is not going to happen anytime soon. This country is packed with homophobia and racism unfortunately. But he would’ve made a great president.
Same. The GOP always had some great people, like Senator John McCain. Trump has made a mess of the GOP and that is so sad. I have voted for Dems and GOP in the past, but this November I absolutely am voting for Harris because of what an insane and demented person Trump is. The GOP actually has a MUCH better chance to restore themselves with a Harris win. Trump is a disease to the GOP right now. 🗳💙💙🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I know she won’t pick Pete because she needs Arizona or Pennsylvania…but my goodness he is an effective speaker who could really reach everyone if they just paid attention.
History shows that governors picked as VP candidates can't "deliver" their states. In the past century, there have only been three: Spiro Agnew, Nelson Rockefeller, and Mike Pence. We know how they turned out.
Brilliance is great, but it doesn't automatically translate to effective leadership. A gay president like Pete could face significant diplomatic hurdles with countries that have anti-LGBTQ+ laws, and his policies might worsen domestic issues like the controversy over transgender athletes in women's sports.
@@Kimberly-dt4ko Buttigieg would need to handle complex international relations and navigate domestic special interest groups looking to influence policy. Definitely future President of the United States Pete. As long as Trump doesn't get elected this year we will still be able to vote for people like Pete in the future.
He's being interviewed in a personal capacity. The distinction is necessary to make sure people don't confuse his personal views with the views of department that he leads
For months one of my neighbors had a "Trump" sign in their yard and window. I passed it the other day and they had taken it down. In its place is a sign with the word "Freedom" on it.

Pete might be a good speaker, but being VP or president is about more than that. A gay president could face significant challenges in foreign policy, especially with countries like Saudi Arabia. @@antimediaman9354in Germany we had a female German chancellor and her secretary of state (vice chancellor) was also married to a man. No problem at all.
@@rosemimi973 "in Germany we had a female German chancellor and her secretary of state (vice chancellor) was also married to a man. No problem at all." Oh, @rosemimi973, that's cute, but comparing Germany to countries where being gay is punishable by death is like comparing apples to hand grenades. Sure, Germany had a female chancellor and a gay vice-chancellor, but they weren't dealing with regimes where those identities are criminalized. It’s not about whether we can elect leaders who break barriers; it's about understanding that not all countries are as progressive, and those differences can complicate international relations. So let's not pretend that every place in the world is as welcoming as Germany when it comes to leadership diversity.
@@rosemimi973 Also the Middle East's business dealings and influence in the U.S. are way different than in Germany. And having a gay vice-chancellor isn't the same as dealing with a gay president, especially when those countries hold the keys to vital resources like oil and have significant financial stakes here.

For years now women in Canada get one year paid parental leave. And our economy has not collapsed. My heart goes out to new American moms who must make alternate care arrangements so soon after giving birth.
The parental leave situation in the US makes me absolutely sick. My sister is giving birth in a couple months, works as a nurse assistant and is on her feet all day for long hours -- her work pretty much tells her to suck it up, that "pregnancy isn't a disability" and she shouldn't get any "special treatment" just because she's pregnant. And she's in a state with no paid parental leave, so she will probably have to go back to work very, very soon after giving birth 😔
