I honestly don't know why they have to split it up. For years, it was all on HBO. Now we have to check two places to watch all of it. They should choose one or the other and stick with that. Make it longer, great, I just want it in one place like every other show in existence.
The problem with all three of the guests is that they have not, in decades, been in high school classrooms where history and government teachers working their asses off to teach the fullness of our country's story and are having to compete with smart phones and helicopter parents and politically cowardly school boards.
I remember some of my teachers, who were great, and others who were a joke. Old women, who couldn’t discipline the most rowdy students, and ending up teaching nothing. More interested in wasting 15 minutes on taking gum, and having kids spit it in a coffee can, than try to say shut up or you’re going to the office. Get out. There were about 5 teachers like that, who had no business there, mentally. We had about the same number, of teachers who were actually great.
I graduated high school at the turn of the millenium. No smartphones existed let alone in the hands of teens in the classroom. We had pagers & early T9 input cell phones. Most people my age do not have the faintest idea about history. This isn't a problem with smartphones. It goes much longer and much deeper.
Please! I went to high school before smartphones took over. We learn learn about US history, and we call European history the history of Britain and occasionally Germany, France and Spain. Unless you went to private school (and i am not even sure about that) you were kept a sheep in a tunnel. US school system is horrendous if you care about creating people capable of making change, and the country and maybe world a better place. Top 20 universities in the states is a different story. But one will notice that when it comes to science, and graduate degrees, more than half in those schools are given to foreigners. These are facts
I graduated HS, when pagers didn't exist and PC were just arriving.... When parents respected teachers and the "need improvement" grade was taken seriously and parents actually cared to helped their kids improve.
Interesting that Lowry is stating that Harris, if she had a majority in congress could be the next FDR or LBJ as if that would be worse than the former guy back in the WH.
The right has been trying desperately to rewrite the legacy of FDR. There's a great t-shirt/poster....at the FDR presidential library in Hyde Park, NY listing all the accomplishments of FDR. At the top it says something like, "It's FDR's world and we live in it." It's great. Eisenhower was probably the last GOP president of consequence with the interstate system. Prior to him it would be Teddy Roosevelt who grew completely disenfranchised with the GOP and formed the Bull Moose party.

I find it interesting that Bill is quick to call out parents on guns and phones but not on education. My parents were on me when I was in school. Making sure I did my homework, reading, discussing what I was learning at the dinner table, etc. I’m not saying education is perfect but the more parents are involved with their kid’s education, the more kids value the importance of education and more learned we become.
I feel there is a fine line that parents should walk in regards to their children's education. As parents we should be aware of our child's progress, and available to our children for help, and support. We should be aware of what is going on between them and their teacher, and also their class interactions. What we shouldn't be, is overly involved. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. We actually take away from our children qhen we are constantly " helping". Let them learn to communicate with their teachers. Make them responsible for their own grades and homework. Parents need to let teachers do their jobs, and stay in their lane and do their own job. Teachers also need their authority back, and parents need to back them up. Your child isn't an angel.
Remember it's also that our economy (in terms of the average person) is so bad at this point, no matter what GDP says, that most parents have to work so much more they aren't able to spend as much time with their kids.

If we are talking about curriculum and left vs. right, we should bring up the fact that basic science like evolution and climate change is sometimes not taught in far right red states
What's to teach about climate change?>The earth's temperature has fluctuated all through time. There was an Ice age. Trying to push a narrative that any creature on earth can control the weather is a lost cause. The "science" is a mere observation of weather patterns. Our lifetime isn't long enough to understand it. Might as well study air or water. How much is there to learn? How can such a simple thing be called "basic science"? The reason "climate change" has become a pushed narrative is because wealthy people seek to profit from it. they know you will buy anything if it makes you feel like a hero. Micheal Moore made a documentary exposing the green energy money making scheme and that's why they banned his film within days of its release.
You know what is now being pushed in blue states now? That some boys with junk are now female and should be able to undress in girl's locker rooms. Anyone can start killing people around the world to look tough but where does that lead? Bush blows up Iraq so why didn't the world cower at the strength of the US, it should have been a lasting thing. But then the Middle East strikes back with 9/11 and we were lit up and they found out that the god bleeds. The rest of the world does not fear the US as much as China has brought wealth to these smaller countries, it wasn't the US as US multinationals always suck these countries dry and the people in these countries start to hate the US. I whipped off onto a tangent but ultimately, Trump was more of a problem/fear for our allies than he was a feared character by our enemies. Putin had already secured Crimea, the Donbas and just needed a bit more time to do a slow easy coup to take UKR. Trump loses so now Putin has to weigh his options, will Trump run in 2024, will he be able to win, can I wait any longer and it would seem he couldn't wait. The GOP has done all it could for Putin by not fully backing UKR and for McMaster to not rip the GOP for that is disingenuous on his part since he says he isn't a partisan.
Even if you say well, those were the times in reference to slavery, you can't then also support people who say slaves had it good and they shouldn't complain or that Jim Crow era or separate and disturbingly unequal or the violent backlash against the civil rights movement weren't that significant or bothersome. A lot of the discriminatory and biased application of the law, social programs, financing, housing employment access occurred well into the 1980s and 90s. I love my country. I've also lived outside the US for a total of 10 years and can see the benefits of other countries. Our lack of national healthcare is an embarrassment. Every time we came back to visit we always worried about the weirdos with the guns. 33% of Americans own guns yet there are enough guns in America for each citizen to have one. there's an underlying ugliness in this country that just won't go away. The haves and have nots have always existed but the level of entitlement of some folks is off the charts. I chose X job so i am entitled to I lived outside the US for the entirety of the Trump administration. Many countries were shocked and dismayed while others laughed and couldn't believe Americans elected such a disgusting person to be POTUS.
Bill hyper focuses on too many fringe groups trying to imply "everyone" thinks the same. He sees a few hundred college students acting super left leaning liberal and assumes "all" young people think the same way. He is way out of touch with reality.
11:59 Biden’s age wasn’t a coverup that is unprecedented. Same stuff happened to Reagan, Kennedy, and Roosevelt. I strongly believe history will look kindly on Biden and his service to the American nation 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
How can HR McMaster state that the Iranian issue is worse than Trump supporting Putin, Xi, and North Korea. Trump stated that Putin should take whatever country he wants
Trump actually forced North Korea to stop shooting missiles over Japan by sending our fleet to their doorstep. But yeah, keep trying to spread misinformation.
False claiming Trump supporters authoritarian leaders bcuz he had the courage to be visit for world peace. You're just upset Kamala would never even leave our country if she was elected
Studios probably fear hacking after North Korea hacked Sony because of The Interview. While he had his own concerns and risks, Chaplin's financing wasn't in danger of having their private information leaked by the Axis powers.
Where does HR get the idea that Harris won't "kick ass" if the U.S. needs to? And does he really expect us to believe that more than a couple of countries are scared of Trump military action?
Great overtime. McMaster is a Trumpster claiming to be a neutral ‘historian’. He absolutely refuses to criticize Trump. The best he can do is say that he is erratic.
McMaster reportedly thinks Trump is an “idiot” with the brain of a “kindergartner”. He says these things behind closed doors. Not when it counts. Seems to be the definition of feckless. lacking initiative or strength of character; irresponsible. "a feckless mama's boy"
Agreed. The only times trump was occasionally "right" about the things McMaster was talking about was when he'd had to change his political rhetoric to try to make himself look good because people had objectively pointed out how wrong he'd originally been. That wasn't "erratic", it was being caught trying to change democracy into banana-republic, authoritarianism.
I caught that too on several occasions. Big difference between Trump being a threat to our democracy as even Dick Cheney acknowledged, to him just being “erratic”.
We've seen 3 1/2 years of the transformation she wants. I wonder what their magic number is before they slow the flow of unlawful migrants. What do you think? 20? 30? Maybe they want to double the size and push it upwards of 700+ million by adding 350+ million illegal influx. You could guarantee a permanent dissolution of the republican party and could most certainly rewrite or abolish the constitution. They could finally get rid of the pesky second amendment and then be able to stimy any speech they deem problematic. I'll be dead and gone by then thank god, but I'm afraid of the future for the children of this fine republic. They don't want to fix any of the problems we have. They just want power. They all just want power.
If Republicans want their party back, I'm not talking about Trumpers, they aren't Republicans. Trump needs to be handed a loss so bad that they can finally move away from the guy.
True. One of the biggest problems of American politics is that Americans put too much emphasis on party loyalty, and not enough on how to get their parties to be competent.
If Americans want our country back, we need to actually address the problems that led to Trump. In France, they just defeated the far right in elections. One one hand, it's good, on the other hand, the far right has more seats in government than ever before. And yet you see headlines mostly about France defeated the far right. They'll get more power in the next election if the reasons for people voting for the far right aren't addressed. Same here, if the reasons that people choose to support Trump aren't addressed, with or without Trump, the republican party will continue to shift to the far right. People are unhappy, and when people are unhappy, the worst thing you can tell them, be grateful, could be worse, because they will look for populists who promise them things will be better and proceed to burn everything down. Too much focus on Trump being the problem.
Donald Trump is more of a liberal than a kamala Harris she been funding Wars big government big business and the banks the Democrats have become the Republicans
Here's what you don't "get" about conservative Republicans supporting Kamala Harris, Mr. Lowry: Country over party. 🇺🇲 When the essence of our democracy is at stake, that's patriotism.
Great fucken panel discussion… Well done Bill. As a tiny lil South African, I don’t think you would even understand how the implications of your discussions yield insight to our situation. But it is direct. And incisive. Thank you for the clarity and quality. Long may this continue.
Exactly.....we should all pray for a president that could emulate FDR. of course the billionaires and corporations wouldn't like it but it'd be great for over 300 million citizens.
No, what he said was she'd want to be the next FDR, trying to accomplish all sorts of unconstitutional damaging acts. Congress and SCOTUS kept FDR from doing all he wanted to, luckily. BTW many economists think FDR's actions prolonged the Great Depression by years. Many people lost their homes due to his bank holiday.
Best show ever: good debate, good ideas, good listening and not over talking so the viewers can hear both sides or all statements. Get these guys to return for more problem solving. RRRoan
