First of all, I would like to wish you Merry Christmas, and to express my gratitude for advising me (I was using a different nickname) to go and see Deep Purple on this tour! It was a great concert in Belgrade, Serbia, the arena was packed, great crowd, Don, Steve and Roger were on fire! Paice was solid, and Gillan was..you know :) Anyway, my favorite live albums are Kiss Alive! (although I become a fan because of Alive III) and DP Made in Japan, those bands are so good live, DP's virtuosity and jamming and Kiss's energy are something special - and these are my all time favourite rock bands. Hi M K. Great comments. And I totally agree that Carnegie Hall is a much better live performance than Live in Japan. Terry Kath was a giant, and was underrated because he was a team player in a horn-based rock band instead of a guitar-based rock band.

@@JimmyPlato1 you can say what you want about 80s Chicago with Cetera as the frontman (I hated the musical direction they took) , but the guy was an excellent bassist. Carnegie really showcases that and also there's much more Kath guitar. That is always a good thing IMO.

Very pleasantly surprised to see this mentioned; I play it to this day. Kath was a great player, as was Cetera. Danny Seraphine shows what a monster and underrated drummer he is throughout the whole four album release! 100% RIP, Randy... I wept when I first heard it (the solo to Goodbye to Romance, IIRC). The spotlight solo in Suicide Solution is worth the price of the album.

Being a die hard Kiss-fan their live-albums are on top of my personal list. But then it's close between UFO, Priest, Saxon, Motorhead...and then there are a few which were not mentioned on your wars. Nevertheless it was great fun and I've enjoyed it very much. So thank you Pete and merry X-mas

muddy production aside-YESSONGS is by far the best live album ever. Their music is way more involved than any other band. and only these musicians could reproduce live versions as good or better than the fantastic studio versions

I saw them twice live in 1975 or 76 and they were totally blown off stage by the support band (Gryphon). Yes were very average. And to suggest that they are more involved than Gentle Giant - well, words fail me.

If there is muddy production then not the best live album out there is my opinion though I admit I have not heard it, myself.

I love "Bursting out" by Tull, I hace it in vynil edition, and it's one of my favorite albums of my collection, wonderful pictures, great edition. And of course "two for the show" love it ¿Why not "the song remains the same" by Led Zeppelin? ¿What about Emerson, Lake and Palmer ”welcome back my friends to the show that never ends"?

Made in Japan, probably the best recorded live album ever, especially The Mule. I used to play this selling Yamaha NS1000 speakers (£800 a pair in 1978!).

The best thing for me about this whole series has been the opportunity to find out about and hear new live albums. One such is Gentle Giant's Playing The Fool; it's only in the past couple of years that I've been getting into their studio albums and this is a revelation on all levels, so thanks Pete! I know there'll be more to come as I pick up other albums from the series.

What about MSG - One Night in Budokan? Ok, try to ignore Barden's voice, but Schenker's and his V are 'flying'! Rainbow - Live on Stage 1976/77. RJD's voice is EPIC!. Mistreated makes what's left of my hair stand on end!. All the best Pete. Cheers.

You're right, I've never heard a drum kit sounding like it was being hit harder particularly at the start of Kill The King & just before Catch The Rainbow goes full throttle this is right near the top of my list but Strangers has always been my favourite ever since the first time I heard it & Lights Out on side 3 of the album is just the finest 5 minutes or so of lead guitar I have ever heard.

Live albums were gateways for so many of us, snapshots of a place in time, introductions to bands discographies, music genres, etc. Heck, this is why bootlegs became so popular. I would have added BOC's On your feet or on your knees, nevertheless great list and always a pleasure to listen to your programs! Thanks amigo!
