I am a black man and I have loved this song ever since I heard it. I was living in Darlington South Carolina and WJMX out of Florence South Carolina was playing Baby Come Back. I am still today in love with the song. I was talking to my wife and song a few lyrics of the song and she said "I remember that song." So I looked it up and played it then sent it to her phone. As I am writing this text she is calling me so we can reminisce on where we were and what we were doing when this song was a hit all over the sweet USA. Thank you Player for such a sweet hit. I am sure a lot of babies were born as a result of BCB.
Not as impactful as Baby Comeback but I think you and your wife might like “Reminiscing” by Little River Band, in particular the lyrics. It ties right in to your post. Cheers
I am so pleased to see that in this day and age that some people can see past race, creed and color, and just dig the music. For the record I am white. And my recent uploads on RU-vid and spotify were Dazz Band, the Johnson Bros, and Brick. The lesson children; music has no race, creed or color to enjoy. It just has to feel good. One last thought; love each other in spite of what you see on TV
Yes..its an amazing song and huge hit. Yes the lyrics are original and gripping. BUT ...what I love the MOST about Baby Come Back...is the feeling that comes over me when I hear it...the shivers up my spine and the twist in my stomache....
Baby Come Back brings SO MUCH Joy to me when I hear it! That harmony and the guitar riffs are incredible! One of the greatest rocks songs EVER! THANK YOU PLAYER! 💥💥💥💖💖💖
Peter Beckett is an amazing talent. I love that he plays with the Little River Band, which is another favorite of mine, and they play some of the Player songs when they tour.
Funny you should say that Larry, I was watching Jamel_ALA_Jamal react to this song just now on YT (def worth watching...) and thought the closes to this is LRB
@@davidcox3076 I saw him with them also. 1995 I think. They opened up for Hall and Oates and had original drummer and guitarist from hit days of early 80s and that was it. Beckett was great though and of course they played their hits and the Player song Baby Come Back.
You can construct a semi-unimpeachable case in support of the proposition that the 70s was the best decade in music with nothing more than a handful of beautifully crafted Steely Dan yacht rock CDs. Add any two out of: _Zeppelin, Sabbath, Floyd, Purple, Queen, Bowie, the Stones, ELO, Rush, AC fuc*in' DC, Pere Ubu, and The Ohio Players_ And zero or less out of: _Sir Paul & Linda McCarthy & Whinge, Lionel Ritchie, The Jackson , Donnie & Marie Osmond, The Monkees, Barbara _"the Barbarian"_ Streisand, Mungo Jerry, & KC & The Sunshine Band. ...and I don't care who you're debating, it's game _over,_ son; *GAME. FRIKKIN'. **_OVER._* PS: Before you comment, look, man: (a) I had a really rough night and _I hate the fuc*in' Eagles, okay? _ and (b) I've got several more pressing questions to pose before entertaining the strenuously questionable question of The Who,_ not the least of which is *fuc*in' **_WHY?!_* Rock On! @@hellovanite Well, the fact that most of the rest of the band IS American, would lead one to think that. I mean, I never thought U2 or The Rolling Stones were American. I did know that Chrissie Hynde was a Yank; though, I figured out the boys in The Pretenders weren't.
"Baby Come Back", is one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time. Not sure exactly where I'd rank it in my mix. Better than #10 but not quite #1, but pretty darn close. I know I've listened to that song over a thousand times through the years. It's so good and I never get tired of hearing it. If I'm scanning XM radio in my car and come across this song on whatever channel, I immediately stop scanning. Ambrosia's, "How Much I Feel", is another song I feel incredibly passionate about. That late '70's and early '80's era produced some of the best music in history to me. "How I wish to God that you were here!"
Baby Come Back by the Player is one of my favorite song that I always cry when I hear it cause me and my wife enjoy listening since we were high school and my wife have passed away.
Peter, if you're still reading this stuff, you guys were so tight it's really impressive .. your song echoes in the annuls of rock as a beautiful song of love and a real artistic accomplishment.. Baby Come Back is one that I'll always love.. its on my play list.
Does he read these comments? I wonder? Anyway You sir and your band are my heartthrob!! You are so blessed and so talented! Continue forever rock on Peter ♥️🤗♥️ Edit I play this song STILL ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I was a young kid when i heard this song and it made me feel weird. My mom always played it in the car and it became one of those that i could literally feel. Then i grew up hoping someone would sing that to me with the same intensity. Im almost 50 and i still "feel" this song. I will never get tired of it.
He’s right about Hall and Oates. My youngest is 17 and was saying how much he loves this song. I told him if he loved this song I had some others he would love. He’s now a Hall and Oates fanatic. We’ve got a video of him bellowing out She’s Gone after having his wisdom teeth removed.
It's always amazing at just how many really great bands back then were inspired by The Beatles. I can't even imagine what music would have been like if The Beatles didn't exist.
Would never confuse "Baby Come Back" as a Hall and Oates song. But if I heard it for the first time after the 1980 release of Ambrosia's fourth album "One-Eighty", and someone said it was a new song by "Ambrosia", I would not have questioned it.
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams.
Love the music of Player, especially Baby Come Back. Interesting comment about Hall and Oates (Daryl Hall) and Ambrosia (David Pack), and how people confuse the bands and this song. Thank you for the music, Peter! 🎶
This Song was the perfect marriage of lyrics and music! Beautifully sung and crafted by some very talented musicians.I was 19 when I first heard it and it immediately got my attention! Just one of those songs you never get tired of listening to, and another example of the great music that came out of those great times
Excellent composition- congratulations Baby Come Back Player Spending all my nights, all my money going out on the town Doing anything just to get you off of my mind But when the morning comes, I'm right back where I started again Trying to forget you is just a waste of time Baby come back, any kind of fool could see There was something in everything about you Baby come back, you can blame it all on me I was wrong, and I just can't live without you All day long, wearing a mask of false bravado Trying to keep up the smile that hides a tear But as the sun goes down, I get that empty feeling again How I wish to God that you were here Baby come back, any kind of fool could see There was something in everything about you Baby come back, you can blame it all on me I was wrong, and I just can't live without you Now that I put it all together Give me the chance to make you see Have you used up all the love in your heart Nothing left for me, ain't there nothing left for me Baby come back, any kind of fool could see There was something in everything about you Baby come back, listen, you can blame it all on me I was wrong, and I just can't live without you I was wrong, and I just can't live Baby come back, any kind of fool could see There was something in everything about you Baby come back, you can blame it all on me Composição: John Crowley / Peter Beckett / John Charles Crowley / J.C. Crowley.
Just tickled pink to know Ridge Forrester of Forrester Creations from The Bold & Beautiful soap opera (Ronn Moss) is in this great band. Great to see him back. He had a great run with The B&B, but here is where he belongs. Love this song!
One of my favorite songs.A song that is unforgettable, iconic and classic. A nice story behind the formation of the band, and the writing of the song. 💐🌹🎤🎼🎺⛅👍🌏👌🎧🌍
They were and are so handsome and that song - just amazing thank you , the world would not be the same without it. I was a tiny kid and somehow always knew it was incredible . Ty
Hey you. I sent this video to my guy in Liverpool. He was a bouncer (doorman) at the Cavern around the time you talked about going with your brother. He is almost positive he knows you and your brother. He worked all the big clubs in the Liverpool area from the early '60's to mid-90's. Baby Come Back - one of my all time favs.
Oh my Peter is still handsome! Their grp is my fav way back when I was still in high school & college until now that I'm already 63 & a grandma of a 3 yr old girl. Nov 16,2020
They are from America. Only the singer (Peter) is English. He didn't meet the other group members until he moved to Los Angeles, where the group was formed.
This song is a staple in classic rock/yacht rock history and makes you feels so good! My sister took tap dance class and the dance teacher would go "1 - 2 - 3 . . .STOP! " Pick up the needle and scratch the heck out of Baby Come Back. Ambrosia and Player used to confuse me all the time as a seven year old - both groups had that touch of rich harmonies, thumping bass lines, and catchy melodies.
I just learned that Ronn Moss ,your bass player ,plays Ridge Forrester on the Bold and the Beautiful . Baby Come Back brings back awesome summer memories when I was a kid growing up on the Jersey Shore area. Thank you Player !
You just learned that?? That song was recorded in 1977 it was the very 1st number one song of 1978 for 3 weeks. Bold and the Beautiful started in 1987. I had PLAYERS first 4 albums (from 1978 to 1982) Ronn Moss was on the first three albums. I knew who RONN MOSS was before the Soap opera began. He still kept his hair long like he did 10 years earlier in PLAYER at the time the show debuted. Wow, you make me feel old. 😂😂😂😂😂 5:51
I was a young 12 year old when this song came out. I had a little girlfriend and remember how much this song affected me emotionally. It was a very cool song at the time.
