In this episode we go back to 1979 at Mt Panorama Bathurst for some time in a legendary car with a legendary driver.
If you love Brock or Holden or Monaro or Bathurst you'll love this one.
So here it is, Peter Brock driving the winning car from his debut race at Bathurst in 1969.
It was also the debut race at the mountain for HDT - Holden Dealer Team
This time its 1979 and this is part of the lead up to his amazing 4th victory at Bathurst in 1979.
That win was his second in an amazing and unmatched run of 6 wins in 7 years, and 9 wins in total.
This also includes footage from 1969 when Brock drove with Des West and finished 3rd in car 43D, and his teammates, Colin Bond and Tony Roberts in the winning 44D Monaro.
Also keep an eye out for Peter Macrow and Henk Woelders in 42D.
The Holden HT Monaro GTS 350's of Bond/Roberts, Brock/West and Macrow/Woelders finished 1st, 3rd, and 6th respectively in their first and only Bathurst appearance in 1969. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969_Ha...

Magnificent sounding 350...wow! I was a wide eyed 8yr old when the 350 made it's debut at Sandown, and Spencer Martin somehow managed to avoid a catastrophe at the end of the main straight. The first GTHO looked a tad quicker, and with half reasonable disc brakes on the front. Unlike Holden's solid, smaller disc. Bathurst '69 was a classic, and kept me glued to the screen all race. Wily Harry's HDT won, and the rest is history. Motor racing back then was exciting, unlike the road train, compulsory pit stops, manufactured 'product' that masquerades as racing these days. Thanks for the upload 😁👍 P.S. of course the above is only my opinion.

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it. Why are you glad you didn't have a V8? Do you think you would have crashed it or lost your license or both? My Torana doesn't get out much either but when it does it is a lot of fun.

Mr Borken Garage person you should have explained that this is Peter telling the story of the winning 44D driven by Colin Bond & co driver as people are thinking it was Peter who won the race back then.

I'm sorry that people might get the wrong idea but it is explained in the description.

Thanks Matt, going to be strange not seeing the Holden lion all over the joint, and not seeing the Commodores on the mountain.

That's Awesome!! Must have had some fun times in that car. Were you involved in Bob's race team? That would have been a lot of fun too I'm guessing.

Brock and Des West finished 3rd yes, but that is the race winner that he is driving in this video.

@@BorkenGarage the car has Des West and Peter Brock’s name on it watch the clip again 🥰

@@markr6812 I made the clip mate. Yes, it has their name on it, but it is the winning car. Brock and Des West drove 43D in 1969. If you watch to the end you will see 44D with the chequered flag at the end of the race. In the first 20 seconds or so of the clip, the narrator says this is the winning car. 00:25

@@markr6812 thanks for the feedback though, glad you enjoyed it. Trust me, this did baffle me for a bit till I checked out the numbers and the rego's and then spotted 42D that I didn't know about before as well. This was done as a bit of a promo for the 79 race I believe, and they have just put the names on for that purpose.

@markr6812 it's definitely not the Brock car from 69, Bob Morris wrote that car off

Is it really 44D?

I believe it is the winning car (42D) but with the number and names changed for this exhibition event which was 10 years after the race.

The winning car was 44D this is 57D the Kev Bartlett & Spence Martin that caught fire and crashed at SANDOWN 1969 @@BorkenGarage
