I notice that, on American talk shows, at times the audience doesn't get Peter's bone-dry sense of humor. The British audience immediately gets his deadpan delivery, 100%. Hysterically funny and very intelligent man, and a truly gifted actor.
@alisonwilliams1747
@alisonwilliams1747 2 года назад
I also think he really resents being put solely under the spotlight like he is in 1-2-1 American talk shows. He’s a very private person and doesn’t enjoy being probed about personal things. @allsmilez13

Americans understand dry humor. I mean Peter is American ...he developed that humor living here. Maybe what you're seeing is based on the direction giving to the audience. His daughter having an 'affected Irish accent' is actually a positive sign of social chameleonism. Though we tend to cringe at it, his daughter was demonstrating a capacity to adapt to her cultural surroundings. Let's acknowledge the social impact on a child of being uprooted and moved around the world for her parent's career. She's going to need coping mechanisms, and adjusting linguistically to her new surroundings is certainly not an unhealthy one.

I never watched GoT when it came out, and only recently binged watched all 8 seasons of the show in about a month. By the 2nd season, Tyrion became the character I liked the most, he was intelligent and knew the politics better than all the others, including his father. By the time I was half way through, it was obvious he was no longer the intelligent character who was always a few steps ahead of those around him...and while he remained somewhat important to the show, others (even Jamie) had overtaken him in importance. By the last season, it was sad how little he meant to the show....and don't get me started on him suggesting Bran should be king.

I don't agree with your assessment of Tyrion and his importance, in fact it was the exact opposite. He was the drunk dwarf shunned by his family and not taken seriously in the first few seasons and so he made his own path and went directly against the family who cast him as the drunk dwarf. He came into his own and became his own man apart from his family name. You got it backwards. You maybe binged it too fast because you missed a lot.

@@vaskylark Yes he was a drunk, but by the end of season 1, his father made him the hand of the king, after saying had been wrong about him. Peter was the best actor in this series, he brought humour, serious, soulful acting, he is a natural actor. He may be short, his talent is immeasurable. Peter Dinklage is an actor to be admired, not only for his abilities as an actor, but for his humility as a man. In my opinion Peter made the series what it is. I can honestly understand Claire Foy’s dunken thing towards Peter and that admiration for him. I’ve loved Peter ever since he was in Prince Caspian. He’s so mesmerising to watch in anything on screen or in voice overs as know he was the ape Gut in Ice Age - Continental Drift. That deep voice wow. My favourite role has to be X-Men Days of Future Past as Boliver Trask. Can’t take eyes off him. Just a wonderful actor and shows how amazing smaller guys can be. Warwick Davis has had a fantastic career too and I have to admire both of them for their work in the film industry. Legends both of them in their own ways

There was a promo video for the final season. Peter Dinklage was openly irritated with the uncharacteristically foolish things his character was doing purely to move the plot along. Specifically bringing people down to the crypt, with the dead, who would come alive as the White Walkers approached. Something Tyrion would've known would happen. I can't imagine what it's like devoting years to a show that towards the end spiralled completely out of control.

He wasn't her assistant; he was her Hand. The Hand is the chief advisor and is there to give impartial advice to the ruler, which is why they're usually quite close to each other. Depending on the ruler, they may also rule "in stead" (meant to be two words), meaning if the ruler is unable to make decisions or unavailable, they make the decisions for them. This can change depending on what other family members are alive e.g. take Margaery, Cersei, and Joffrey. If Joffrey was incapacitated, as Queen, Margaery's word would be the law; as Queen Mother, Cersei's word would be taken into significant account but not law.

@@pnut3844ableHis appraisal of Tyrion is incredibly low considering he's one of the only just, informed politicians in the show. He may have performed well, but he doesn't seem to regard his character's virtues and just actions in a positive light. Troubling that he considers Tyrion's insecurities and public reputation as confirmation of his lowliness because that's what nearly every character in the show does to Tyrion. This makes me question his performance considering he played the part of a flawed but just man, tortured by his conscience and circumstances. Tyrion's conscience is what makes him relatable. His will and decisiveness to use political power as a public good, rather than for his own interests says more than Tyrion's words, though the character is well spoken and reasonable.
