Peter Forsberg was freakishly good. The complete package. That era was rough and ugly but Peter excelled in pretty much all aspects of the game except perhaps goaltending. The best all-round hockey player ever.
Forsberg was an alltime great but injuries plagued him from time to time which was sad cuz he shouldve been considered one of the best ever. As a kid growing up playing hockey I modeled my game after him. Great player.
One thing not highlighted in the video was his ability to figure out how to get it to someone open just magically. And he had beast mode like I have never seen in anybody in any sport except Seattle Seahawks Lynch. Seeing a pro athlete, especially a humble one, just get into beast mode like Forsberg gives you goose bumps. Nicest guy too.
Me too. I always followed NHL intensely when he played. Now I almost never watch any games. He was the best and most complete player of all time, totally magic. The GOAT.
I had the same feeling after Sakic left the Avs roster. Once the dark ages of Stastny and Wolski hit I stopped watching all together for about 10 years. I watched this year's playoffs but it's not the same sport anymore. I don't think I could watch the regular season anymore.
Been following the Avs since well before they left Quebec. It was their year for a cup and I was sad they couldn't get one in Quebec but been a fan of the team since.
Peter Forsberg was a combination of pure smooth skill, but could also run you over with brute force. Most superstar players don't fight their own battles, but this guy did. Mad respect to Forsberg he was a pure talent. Ashame his career was cut short with bad ankles.
You know Flyers drafted Forsberg in the beginning? Then they gave him away + a bunch of other good players to Quebec for Eric Lindros. The rest is history. I'm a Flyers-fan too, maybe Forsberg could've brought us a cup to Philly for once if history went a bit different.
@@redomega24 Yeah, Lindros was great and the trade was fine. I was just a bit sad, since I was a Flyers-fan and they drafted him, only to trade him away and then go on to win the Cup with the other team. Speaking of concussions, that is sad that both Forsberg and Lindros's career was shortened just by too many of those.
It wasn't a natural hat trick though, just another example of Gary Thorne talking out of his ass. Rene Corbet and Stu Barnes scored between Forsberg's first and second goals.
None of those two knew how to defend and didn't defend. I can't see Mario with his big body constantly back check and play D like Forsberg did every shift. Maybe Gretzky could have been similar to Datsyuk in his D, would he have played D. But Forsberg were just as offensively viscous as Lemieux and Gretzky, but took the game to a whole new level when he game after game cared about defending also, and not just making sure that they scored. 1. Forsberg 2. Lemieux 3. Gretzky 4. Howie 5. Orr 6. Lidstrom 7. Jagr 8. Messier 9. Crosby 10. Datsyuk/Ovie/Kent Nilsson
I agree, fopa greatest overall player of all time,, there's been better scorers, faster skaters,, etc.. but as you said no flaws great all around player!
Agreed, but this is worth mentioning.... Alex Tanguay (Avalanche vs. Devils Game 7, Saturday, June 9th 2001, Pepsi Center, Denver, Co. Alex came very close to a natural Hat Trick on that most memorable evening. One of Hockey's finest hours. What a team, what a series. What a game. Sakic to Bourque, take that thing and skate baby ! Chilling
@@custosnocte1528 Was always a Sakic fan since I was a kid. Always my favourite player. He was more finesse but he was a leader and he was always there to do that for the team. He was a rock in that franchise
I don't know much about Ice-Hockey although as a 9 or 10 year old kid got to meet this Peter Forsberg in Sweden which I can still remember vividly, as he's from the same district as all relatives on my father's side over there 🎉
Very nice to see an avid fan , albeit a blind one. I would agree with Forsberg being the most complete player in his time (and perhaps ever) but not best ever. An argument could be made for best of his era , that would be debatable.
That old JOFA helmet of Peter's was weird looking THEN, now it looks like a movie prop from the sci-fi department of a 30's movie production company...
On a scoreboard on tv the home team is always on the bottom and the away team is on the top. If they're side to side then the home team is always on the right while the away team is on the left.
So you have something in common with kid diddlers , you don´t care for the young victims. There are at least 500 rock tunes I would chose before Gary Gutter´s.
@@kenneththorberg6914 name one of those kids he molested. no googling. that’s right you don’t care about them either. HEY!!! HEY!!! HEY!!!! - what the kids he molested usually said.
Anze Kopitar is this generation's Peter Forsberg! FACT!. THE LA KINGS = GREATEST NHL TEAM EVER ASSEMBLED! FACT!. THE LA KINGS WOULD OWN THE COLORADO AVALANCHE WITH SAKIC, FORSBERG AND ROY IN THEIR PRIME! FACT!.
