“THE ART OF CONTROL” is such a great record! Lots of guitars on this one. Frampton’s playing is outstanding over the entire album. Much better than “Premonition”.

I'll have to give it another listen. It's been a looooong time. But back in the day, and I bought it when it first came out - it was such a letdown after Breaking All The Rules. I wasn't impressed with too many songs - definitely remember Eye For An Eye was a strong one. I'll re-check it out.

Bout time.They put in some of these artists that you just have to scratch your head like what are they doing.Well deserving for sure.Only time I saw him was with the Pie which was damn good

Thanks so much. I have to give Now another listen - it's been a long time. It kills me that he's virtually ignored Breaking All The Rules all these decades....

Off the hook from Detroit was Grammy nominated! And hummingbird in a box was written for the Cincinnati ballet. So it’s very experimental and avant-garde. Which most establish musicians let alone rock musicians would never ever even think of doing let alone try.

Yes - absolutely true. Hummingbird still sounds like a Frampton album - well mini album.

I saw Peter at Arrowhead Stadium Kansas City. Steve Miller and Styx opened. He was such a huge star but there was already a backlash to the I'm In You album. Seemed like the guys were there to see Miller and the their dates just wanted to see Frampton. Great guitar player. Congrats to Mr. Frampton.

I've seen so many photos and videos of when Frampton was headlining stadiums back in 77. Extraordinary footage. I remember him playing JFK Stadium in Philly with YES and 90,000 people. Largest venue I saw him in was MSG back then. Of course, I feel he's much more enjoyable in smaller venues. Very cool though.

Got to see Frampton With Humble Pie & on the same bill With Robin Trower & Blue Oyster Cult. P.F. is a underrated Guitar player (He's really good) thanks for the video on him. 👏✌️🥁🎶 (Wait a minute I didn't see him, I got all the bands right but a Guy named Clem Clemson had replaced him by then, he came from a band called Colliseium. Forgive my memory.

thanks for your correction, because I was gonna say, I think you're timing is close but a little off. BOC's first album was like 1972 I think. I believe Frampton left the Pie before that - maybe late 1970 or early 71. Still amazing line up and Clemson was a great guitarist as well.

Impressive collection, I'm a fan but not as big as that, I'm glad he's in the hall of fame now, he was a really fine guitarist. There are some great old video's of The Herd with a very young Frampton on youtube, he must be one of the prettiest rock stars ever!
@TheAlanRosenbergShow
@TheAlanRosenbergShow 4 месяца назад
I have some Herd (they're ok) and of course when he was in Humble Pie. You're right....it's true....he was one hell of a good looking rock star. Gotta say, even then, I saw through it. Always knew he was a hell of a guitar player with his original tone and style. Unfortunately the backlash came back strong. He didn't totally help with some "just okay" albums after FCA and of course the Sgt Pepper movie. Of course, that movie seemed to only hurt Frampton, because he starred in it. Didn't hurt Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper and the others for being in it.

I love your enthusiasm in celebrating the selection of your guy, Peter Frampton, for induction into the RRHOF. Owning 40 of his albums/CDs has got to make you his biggest fan. I agree with your description of Peter as being “pretty good all around.” I think he shines the brightest as a guitar player, though I like his singing and plenty of his songs. As you said, his albums aren’t known to be great from start to finish (except, of course, “Frampton Comes Alive”), probably accounting for his minimal career success on the album charts. Nevertheless, he gave the world one of the most iconic albums of the 1970s. And that obviously is nothing to sneeze at.
@TheAlanRosenbergShow
@TheAlanRosenbergShow 4 месяца назад
I no longer have any real conception of who should be in the RRHOF. Even in the beginning they put some early artists in who literally had a handful of really good songs (aka Ritchie Valens and others). They've put artists in who had one good album. So now it makes sense to put in artists who've had really long careers, but maybe one or two truly great albums, but over their career they've had countless great songs spread out. Frampton would certainly fall in that category. Plus he could be for FCA alone. There's many others as well who have tons of great and classic songs spread out over long distinguished careers.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I think you make a good point about hall of fame consideration for artists who have lots (not just “some”) of truly great or classic songs that are spread out among albums that span said artists’ long careers - “long” being the operative word for me, here. In the case of Ritchie Valens, he did, as you wrote, have only a handful of hit songs in about the course of a year, I think. My guess is that the RRHOF selected him because of his role as a founding father of Chicano rock ‘n’ roll and because his career was prematurely ended by a plane crash. With regard to artists who were inducted into the hall of fame years back despite having only a handful of hits: I think that is unjustified. And with regard to artists being inducted based on one good album (not even a great one): I think that also is unjustified. (I wouldn’t object to TRULY GREAT albums being recognized in an honor roll category. But because I don’t believe that huge sales are necessarily connected to greatness, subjective opinions wrapped in personal agendas would have to be in play - as they always are when it comes to the RRHOF.) I understand your premise about how “if that artist was inducted, then so should this artist be inducted.” I see that as more “wrongs,” if you will, being piled up on preceding “wrongs.” The RRHOF became a runaway train a long time ago. There is no way to stop its ridiculous choices which is why I find it a laughable institution that insults those who really deserve merit for creating rock ‘n’ roll that is beyond just good. When it comes to the RRHOF, I think of two types of artists being insulted. The first kind are the deserving artists that are not in the hall of fame. The second category contains the already-inducted deserving bands that are lauded together with artists who can’t hold a candle to them. I think the true greats deserve a much higher perch. It’s not about elitism, but rather the recognition of stellar quality - and the next-level talent needed to create such quality, IMHO.

@@ronalaurence4105 Thanks as always - I agree with you. One of my points in the Frampton video would be that under the scenario, that the hall only inducts the greatest of all time, and when that runs out it kind of runs out, then artists of the caliber of Frampton would not be in. And that's coming from a huge Frampton fan with 40 albums in my collection. But because of where the hall has gone with their inductions, and now it's really a popular music hall of fame, and because over a 40 year career, Frampton has a ton of incredibly great songs (and the greatest live album ever made IMHO), then I don't have a problem with his induction. In fact in the this years induction, he's the best choice in my opinion, which certainly says something. But yea it's so watered down from the mount olympus - Beatles, Stones, Who, Zeppelin, U2, Springsteen, Dylan..... and for me The Kinks.
@ronalaurence4105
@ronalaurence4105 4 месяца назад
Again, you make another good point, with regard to running out of inductees as a result of having a hall of fame whose membership is comprised only of the truly great artists. From a practical, money-making standpoint, that scenario is not sustainable. If induction years were skipped, owing to a lack of qualified candidates, the public would lose interest and the RRHOF money machine would stop operating. So much for my idealism when it comes to separating the bonafide greats with what I call “the enjoyable and fun goods!” If the Hall of Fame changes its name to the Hall of Popular Music, then I could honestly accept artists of all genres and varying talent levels being thrown in together with each other. As much as I love music, I’m also a “word” person. As such, I can get stuck on semantics. To your point about Frampton: Considering most of the current and all of the upcoming RRHOF inductees: I think he belongs there. And, I agree that he is the best choice among this year’s selections.
@TheAlanRosenbergShow
@TheAlanRosenbergShow 4 месяца назад
@@ronalaurence4105 Yea - when I look at this years inductees, for me, it's really mediocre. I don't think any of these artists are at the "top echelon" of the history of rock and roll. But in general, thats about where the hall is at. Who's left that is top echelon - for me Jethro Tull is #1 of the left outs. But of this years mediocre's - I also agree Frampton is the best of them and most deserving.

Frampton falls down 😂 Who's Peter Frampton?? I always liked Frampton's Camel as well as his Humble Pie work. I saw him live with Humble Pie. They were a powerful live experience. You should be reviewing the new Taylor Swift record right now 😂. I plan to send a picture of the stage the Stones will be playing when I get to Jazz Fest this week. It will be interesting to see the changes that will be made for them on the 2nd.

Hey Alan -nice to see Peter finally make it into the hall of fame. 74 - same age as me Lolol. Comes Alive - in my top 10 all time best live albums. No doubt about it. He has a fine body of work, without being a hit maker. He took the best of that fine body of work and put it onto Comes Alive which was absolutely tremendous. His guitar playing is brilliant - as you say he has a sound all his own. There is some great live footage on utube back in the day - those long blonde locks flowing in the breeze and that amazing guitar - love that live footage. Rick Beato interviewed Peter not long ago - great interview. Check it out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qUz75pYsA_c.html&ab_channel=RickBeato Cya Doug

Thanks Doug - yea that was a wonderful interview - loved how Beato compared notes on their guitar playing and how he further pointed out the uniqueness and greatness of Frampton's playing. Something that me and you have been aware of for decades and that Beato can expose to the newer younger and more uninformed casual fans - great stuff. Thanks so much.
