James Newton Howard's score for the film was breathtaking, but Chance Thomas somehow managed to write a score that was equally as negaging and musical, and didn't force you to compare it to the film score. Hats off!
This game was what I call a "sleeper hit" of a video game. An unforgettable classic that is so timeless even 7 years after it's creation! ANd the soundtrack just added to its unforgettable magic and allure!
@@bigsmoke1522 To unlock the alternate ending, players must complete the entire game and then go back and play through various maps and earn a total of 250,000 points.
@@chrisjericho9632 If it was released now you could have buy it for 10 dollars HAHA, scary how games changed. this was the one of the best tbh. even had dreams about it as a kid. Truly a amazing experience, and that just on the PS2 with limited graphics. they rocked it
Julian Pagano Me too. Whenever this music would come on, I would actually stand beside on of the buildings and let the music play while hearing Kong roar.
(Game Score: Kong) Composer Commentary by Chance Thomas on King Kong, the Tragic Hero: "The story of King Kong is a classic tale of a tragic hero. Kong takes on a heroically protective instinct towards Ann Darrow and preserves her life and the lives of her companions against unbelievable odds. But he pays a terrible price. Ann's companions initially misunderstand and then viciously exploit him. Kong is stolen away from his homeland and taken to an even stranger and more dangerous place (New York City). He is chained, put on display, harassed, hunted down and eventually killed. It is a devastatingly cathartic drama. This music track is Kong's archetypal theme. The first stanza sets up the theme, the second one develops it, and the third brings on the ultimate finale."
When entering Kong's lair, this always gave me goose bumps when this music played. And even to this day after playing it for years and years, it still does that to me.
after watching the movie I was almost not ready to watch kong die again, I would try to run past the soldiers but the tank would wreck me, then when I climbed up I knew it was the beginning of the end. Peter Jackson made me love King Kong
I enjoyed the game and movie at the same time. Their both my favorite game and movie of all time. Thank you Peter Jackson for having the 2005 remake exist.
It seems like the music is great in the cave and as he climbs the empire state building Its like you come along way to get to this point and you know whats going to happen You know its going to end sadly Poor Kong :**(
TwilightSparkle Fan I hate when I fall from the 102nd floor and go *splat* all over the ground. On the plus side, it's tall enough to give you time to think about how the end is going to suck as you plummet towards the ground at terminal velocity . ^_^
Still playing this in 2014 :D revisiting memories Edit: Six years after posting this comment and I still remember this game vividly. Thinking about playing through parts of it again.
This is one of the only movie-based games that strayed from the original formula and still kept the epic feel of its movie counterpart. A definite classic.
They really need to make a remake of this game but I'm guessing it's kind of hard because it would have to get the likeness rights to all the actors all over again. This was really honestly a one-of-a-kind movie to game adaptation The genuine fear I had as a kid against the raptors cannot be replicated.
Weird opinion but I like the game much better than the film. Now the film is good, but it's just too long for me, even Kong's death scene just drags on a little too much. I think the game added a better experience by making it look like a film from a first person perspective and creating an overwhelming atmosphere. Just from my view the movie was like watching a movie where as playing the game felt more like I was actually on Skull Island. Kong's death in this game was done better too, better pace and setting it during night time looked better.
+Funinightmare i aggre with u i also think they were on the boat for way to long and the island seemed a liitle small in the film becuse there wasnt enough time on the island IMO
Leonzilla Leon Maybe Ubbisoft make a new King Kong game for the next gen bec Kong Skull island the new movey coming 2016 oder 2017 , they should make it!! ;( a Open world in Skull island playing as Kong would be beautifull... (sry for my bad english xD )
I’m glad I grew up with the original Xbox when I was 6 or 7 years old in 2013 or 2014 and played the Original halo , halo 2 , call of duty big red one and of course King Kong
after the events of the movie multiple expeditions took place on the island. not only did they find prehistoric flora and fauna long since thought extinct they also found that Kong was truly the last of his kind and that humanity was responsible for the extinction of the 8th wonder of the world himself. in 1948 another expedition was scheduled to the island but before they can land an earthquake measuring 9.2 on the Richter scale sunk the island which had for thousands of years already been on its last legs causing not only the island to forever disappear from our world but also every exotic species which had adapted fully to the island to sink beneath the depths forever.
a little bit of it plays while you swim towards ann, mostly a loop of the first minute, same while running down the final area before climbing the empire state building
