What I love about this is Billy Connolly. His total respect for a fellow comedian doing a bit. No interrupting, no trying to "one-up", no trying to steal the show, no "hey I'm the comic here" He takes his place in the routine with total class and grace. The man is a legend.
Geez I'm smart ,I must say ,I was thinkin I wonder where they were on at the same gig ....um ...anyway I'm Australian and so is Billy's wife pamela or miranda or..
I don’t understand how people can say Peter Kay is not funny!. He’s absolutely hilarious, this is top quality entertainment at its finest! Now everyone chill out!
Dude to be greeted by the absolute GODS in their fields as an upcoming comic must have been both terrifying and exhilarating... What a group to perform in front of
The delivery of that Sky + joke was outstanding. Had me in stitches. Good old fashioned light hearted humour. No obscenities and no agendas being pushed, rare these days.
Parky didn't want rid of him, and he wasn't unhappy at all. It's just that he has a schedule and wants to do the interview. It becomes apparent after a few minutes that theres no gonna be an interview, so he just sits down, relaxes and lets Peter run with it. It's not a big deal. Kay and Connolly are quite simlar in that respect, they don't stick to interviews like other celebs, they just burst in bull-in-a-china-shop style and write their own scripts. It's genius.
Peter Kay is a genius! The way he does this on interviews means alot because the people who are always next to him don't live in the real world like me you and how peter kay did growing up, i love how he doesn't give a crap what the big shot celebrities think about him when he has a laugh.
What I love about Peter Kay is he is funny (actually hilarious) and does not need to do it at the expense of other people. I have never seen him put other people down like a lot of 'comedians' these days nor does he find it a necessity to 'push the boundaries' to enlighten and educate the general public about various issues.
Are you serious? Its a clean act without hecklers. That is the only difference. Comedy is based on laughing at life which involves making fun of yourself and others.
"Victorias sandwhich.... bet you've said that a few times before haven't you" Looking at David. 2 minutes in, literally a joke at someone else's expense. I get your point. Peter is hilarious at times but he isn't a saint. Just because you don't understand other peoples humor doesn't mean they are "pushing the boundaries". You can have topical comedy that is very informative, which actually right now with all the lies flying about it actually needed.
Take a look at Billy Connolly during Peter Kay's routine. He's not laughing like Beckham. It's the difference between being an audience to comedy, and being another sharp minded comedian, who is absorbing the energy of a performance and learning from it. Great comedians learn from each other, no matter when or where, but they all have that incredible storytelling ability which captivates audiences as they intersperse their tales with their own brand of humour. This is a fantastic piece of TV all round, because it also proves, once again, that real comedy is not reliant on the constant use of obscenities. Well done to Peter Kay for putting the sketch together. It certainly made for a great section in Michael Parkinson's last show.
@@georgetyrrell1006 actually he's naturally quite shy , he is also has ADHD , he loves other people's humour , if he tells a funny story in his stand up he always accredits it to the origin of the story . Funny is just funny .
This is wonderful. I'm not a massive fan of Peter Kay but what he done is what needed to be done. The last episode should be about Parkinson and to give him a good send off.
Peter takes natural humour to the next level - KISS OF DEATH!!! Michael is completely taken aback as is Billy, Caine and Attenborough - not to mention the amazing Mr Beckham!
I remember meeting Peter kay in Streets in Ireland, he the same off screen as well. Nice person. I regret not going seeing him , Peter kay is a Superb comedian.
Feeling fed up with Covid..re watched this..crying with laughter..Peter had them all eating out of his hands..And he wasn’t going to answer any questions..X
He is the general publics comedian who see things from the working class side of life Great bbc documentary at Xmas showed what he really is like A people's comedian Well done for making our live happier for being around just like Ken dodd A true one off
Every body knows that once Peter kay arrives that you are not going to get a word in from any angle. And Mr kay was making it all about Mr parkinson and hence the ambience changed and rightly so ...total respect to all on the show. Ps 11 yrs and now you pipe recommend this to me. ...must be a waiting list. .lol. . ..great video. 👍
Michael Caine might not be feeling it but Billy Connoly is laughing his arse off and if one of the funniest men in the history of entertainmant likes it you're on to something.
i cant believe we kept this lad on our school bus past his stop....ffs he was always hilarious, and a top lad too...well done Pete lad,you done us all proud m8
the glory days when saturday night tv had Parkinson. great guests and real chat with some of the world's greatest stars. since then there has been no one anywhere as good. wogan, harty, ross ....mere imitations of a tv interviewer
My friend lived in the south and was an ameteur comedian, but very good. He moved up north and did a sketch at a local comedy venue. After two minutes he was ushered off the stage. It really knocked him hard and it wasn't until he'd lived there a few years and learnt northern humour that he started doing sketches again. Just like a many Brits don't enjoy most American humour, the same goes for Northern and Southern comedy. It's funny how styles vary and even the best comedians can sometimes struggle when in another region... Has anyone for instance heard of an English speaking German comedian that's funny!...
Love it, remember seeing it at the time and thinking how brilliant Parkinson was for just going along and how Caine sits there thinking "who the f's this?" lol
