The Danish singer Carl Brisson, Paramount's replacement for Maurice Chevalier, introduced this topical number in the 1934 film 'Murder At The Vanities.' The lyric celebrates the joys of a United States without the National Prohibition Act, which was repealed around this time. "No longer slinking/ respectably drinking/ like civilized ladies and men..." A suave, dressy image is conveyed by this song, which was ruthlessly and cleverly lampooned more than a decade later by Spike Jones and His City Slickers.

For three days I've been listening to your videos. You truly are a national treasure. Thank you for posting these for our enjoyment. I've heard some great songs I never heard before and your playing is exactly how I like it :-) Not to mention the piano is in TUNE and the audio quality is very good.
