That parrot reminds me of the time one of our hens had to walk with a limp.

I think the parrot was a deliberate nod to the parrot in the Fox animated series Peter Pan and the Pirates. Except that while that parrot had an eye-patch, it didn't have a pegleg, and it was called Short Tom.
