You see, the theme of Spider-man 3 is all about vengeance and what happens is Peter's downward spiral from giving into it. He was angry at Flint Marko for killing his beloved uncle -- the symbiote sensed this and fed on it, making Peter do what he normally shouldn't and attempt murder as payback. When Eddie slandered Spider-man's image for fame, Peter Parker violently lambasted him and got him fired, instead of taking the time to talk to him about it. When MJ was forced by Harry to tell Peter that they were through, it broke something inside that made him act in a way against his actual nature. Peter loved and he felt tht MJ betrayed him for Harry. At that time, he was unable to act rationably and control his emotions, so just went up and humiliated her in public.

Bro 100% intended on letting his face be the last thing he ever saw. Now for Green Goblin, here the proof is a bit iffy but as soon as gg mentioned pete's hoe, pete went ballistic and said no words and started beating the green meany to a pulp, dropping a brick wall on dude, slamming him and proceeding to give him the beating of a lifetime. GG noticed he was going to die cause pp had all the reason in the world to end him. He knows aunt may and injured her, threatened to do even more to mj, and kill pp, so like im convinced they both knew what a rational person in that scenario would have to do, seeing as the cops would not handle a man who could probably bend bars and all that. These two scenes were brilliantly juxtaposed, because in both scenes, spiderman was completely violating until he realises his connection to the threat or killer. He then, as time goes on, begins to realise the importance of life (he fully understands this when sandman started talking about his daughter) and that if norman died, harry would have nobody. So ya, he learns these lessons as he goes, he is not a boy scout from the jump naturally, hes a dweeb who kisses other chicks in front of his girl because he human too.
