As a teenager, I used to sit in my bedroom and belt this song out on my guitar. Music from the 60's and early 70's was just so different to today's head-thumping mumbo-jumbo. Damn, I miss those days.
An amazing song as relevant today as was 60+ years ago. Its lyrics and melody resonates across distance and time, forever reminding us of our humanity in turbulent time. Thanks to Peter, Paul and Mary.
In the 60's my older brother would buy me a new record for my birthday/Christmas. They really were for him, so I shared (RIP Brother, thanks for the memories).
I remember seeing a version of this song on TV many years ago, by British comedian Les Dawson. It addressed the question of how many beans does a tin can hold.
Yep, exactly. We thought that we could change the world but little did we know that the rich and powerful have always controlled it and run it as they wished. Shake it up, yes we did for a time but hey, they learned, adjusted and continued on the path to destruction. Consumerism, Greed and Lethagy have a way of subjecting even the staunchest folk eventually. I've spent 50 years as an alternative lifestyler, thinking that I was limiting my impact , when I should have probably been more outspoken and proactive. The reality is, even that wouldn't have made a difference, we're a destructive force against nature, us Western Capitalist countries.
Brother I hear you, music like this will never get old, a song as poignant then as it is now, I was born in the 50's and spent my teens in the 60's and these folk songs still evoke wonderful memories.
I saw them in college in the 70's, outstanding! Her powerful voice blew me away. I still sing puff the magic dragon at karaoke. Peace from Northern Michigan.
@@whyicareEverything in the 60s wasn't about dope, free love, flowers in your hair and Nam, child. Folk singers sang songs about all sorts of stuff. It's basically a children's song, a 60s Peter Pan story if you will. Easy to google.
Can't even remember how many years it has been since I have heard this song!!! I always had a different take on it than most----I was raised in a Christian home--so as a kid I just naturally thought the answer was Jesus!!! Now I am so much older---in my 60's----know what---my answer still hasn't changed!!!! Have suffered a lot in this life and learned a lot!!! Still the same answer!!!
Sad but with a strong conviction that with love in our heart we're cocreating a New Earth.❤❤❤❤loving hug for all good hearted people that cries while listening this song.bleesings
Ein sehr guter Text, der nur noch von einigen Menschen verstanden werden muss ! Manch einer meint ja, er würde ewig leben. Normales Umgehen miteinander wird immer schwieriger, leider.
The first time I heard Blowin' in the Wind Peter Paul and Mary were singing it. Might have been this performance. It's one of only a few covers of a Bob Dylan song that I actually like. These three could sing! No wonder my parents liked them so much.
I loved Peter Paul and Mary. My favorite is puff the magic Dragon. My Daughter made one at her school. Her teacher was Ms Fernino. Maybe someday she will find her soul mate and gift this wonderful creation to him. For the one she made it for. Sometimes I feel she has been doing stuff all along the way it’s funny how when I think of our lives how they are all interlinked I believe what is meant to be is meant to be as her mom I want the best for her what ever she is most happy with. I only wish I can be there to cheer her when she graduates from her high school and be there when she gets married and be there when she has her own children. To teach her the right way to raise kids.
Thank s Lot for a new time ..I can to hear a beauty song of old time......and The Best Songs and the Best Singers are allways beauty to hear and it s not necessary to speak too much about that....Only hear them....like this unforgetable trio Peter...Paul and Mary.....I heard them so many years ago...and I have never forget them..😅😅😅❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I miss their concerts! I went to many of them and you could actually talk to them afterwards! Mary was such a talented sweet woman! She commented on how tiny my feet were and how big hers were! Oh and Peter kissed me every time I talked to them! They were the best!
