The brilliance of it is that Peter isn’t really making a wrong decision here. He is right when he says that he can’t spend his life living another person’s dream. Which is why the rest of the movie is about him finding HIS OWN reason for wanting to be Spider-Man. The old Spidey, the one driven by pain and guilt, is indeed “no more”, never to be seen again. When Peter chooses to don the suit again, his decision is not driven by self loathing, it is driven by love.

I like how when Peter rejects Ben's hand Ben has a sad smile on his face. He understands that Peter is just overwhelmed and tired of being Spider-man he just wants to be a normal person. While he's sad that Peter doesn't want to continue being a hero part of him is happy that Peter is making his own choice on his current situation. Uncle Ben doesn't denounce him or brush him off, he has tears in his eyes but accepts that's Peter's decision to make.

I am a PTSD victim after suffering a chain of one unfortunate event after another for one whole year. One day after experiencing one traumatic event I remembered this scene, I took off my school uniform and puts it in the laundry, with this music playing in my head, just like Peter throwing away the suit, it’s me ‘throwing away’ my uniform in the laundry, with me thinking, “I am just *my name*, I’m *blank* no more.” beforehand

@@chrisklitou7573 That's not true. I've seen alot of Doctors that care for their patients, it seems that they don't care and hand you pills but it's cuz there's so much work to be done behind the scenes of a clinic. There's so much paperwork to be done after each patient they see plus patients pile up too. I thought the same way as you did until I went to my Med school rotation

We all know the line "With great power comes great responsibility", but how Peter managed that I wonder. He had to fight criminals, attend lectures, keep promises, sometimes break them, and also be there for Aunt May. Even though Uncle Ben didn't know Peter was Spider-Man, he knew what growing up and becoming a responsible person meant.

When I was Spider-Man 2 in theaters. I was so confused of why he was losing his powers . I thought in my 8 year old mind maybe he’s not using his powers carefully . My mom probably thought he needs to take a break and be just a normal person. Now that I’m 26 I knew all along in my mind he wasn’t thinking about life he was too busy being Spider-Man

@Kimmy Boy He literally fights Mysterio and Vulture alone, wdym help? He didn’t even use Stark tech in the Vulture fight, and yea he’s grown in several other comics, cause they take years after he got his powers. Besides, Peter didn’t need Furys help but Fury needed Peters help. It’s just a trend nowadays to hate on the new Spider-man, hell there are some idiots out there that start to praise TASM movies, they suck, but yes I like Andrews Spidey.
