So basically people back then believed serial killers were supernatural creatures. Makes some sense when you realize how superstitious people used to be and how diabolical the murderers were.
@@Cuban20 yup. They also only had three legs. And you could cure them by whacking them in the head with a shoe, calling their name, or throwing their human clothes at them. Worst werewolves ever
@@rahulrai7910 it wasn't supposed to be cool. Mothers were cursed by god for trying to alleviate the pain of giving birth (which was thought to be womens rightful punishment for Eve eating the apple in eden) by either having their sons turn into werewolves, or their daughters turn into maror (weird women who rode around on people in the night, which gave them nightmares. That's actually where the word nightmare comes from, in both swedish (mardröm) and english).
Thank you for this video! I learned of Peter Stumpp about a year ago when someone in our family traced our genealogy and found out he was our ancestor. Super interesting and creepy!
The fun but also gruesome fact is. That people that were executed for being a werewolf mostly actually were monsters. Often being sadists that killed humans and/or animals in such scale or brutality that people thought that they must be a werewolf to be able to do such terrible things. People that were witches also were in most cases social outcasts. A person that seemed to have a strange behaviour to others or were just mean persons. Sometimes even just accused for being a witch because they got in fights with people or for political reason. I read a book in school were a woman was accused by her neighbour for being a witch simply because they often got into fights because of access rights of the stream behind their houses.
The werewolf is the psychological manifestation of rage, virility, and other thymotic energies. It's interesting to see how occult and other mythic motifs are related to psychological phenomena.
Tell that to people who have had encounters with these beings! Both here in the States AND ABROAD. It's inexperienced pin heads such as yourself spreading missed information that spreads stupidity like wildfire that keeps the masses comfortable in the dark... Shameful. Get educated... I doubt werewolves exist, but it’s still fun to think about. He might’ve been a madman or he might’ve been a victim of circumstance. I doubt he would be the last to be executed in such a fashion
I m glad someone actually tells the story of him, I actually live like 2 min away from where he supposedly did all that. We even have a hiking spot named after him here.
I just want to know, did the killings and missing children continue after he was killed? This may have just been an animal attack or a serial killer taking opportunity
@@heurtakrause5865 in the city we had the so called "Werwolf Wanderweg" where you would walk the path the Werwolf took and all throughout there were small boards which illustrated the story! Really nice
Could it be that the term "werewolf" was intended to be ironic, considering that he might have guilty of being a cannibalistic serial killer? I am aware that the term was not popularized until many centuries later, but there are records of such monstrous activities reaching back centuries at least. It seems most likely that he was caught in the act, and then tortured to gain a full confession. During this, a far more colorful fiction arose as he would have invented details to satisfy the questioners. This confession would be used at trial, but the authorities would have known they were dealing with a repetitious murderer, and were making multiple statements at once, not the least of which would be that crimes of this nature were dealt with harshly. It would have been enough to keep other murderous elements at bay for quite some time.
It could have been a warning to protestants, or he could have actually been a cannibalistic killer. But he is definitely not a werewolf. The people during the werewolf trials alot were killers but a lot of them were just innocent people who wanted the torture to stop.
There are some spells that work to be a werewolf......I did it .....but o messed up.....I end up having strong and sharp back teeth, strong smell and hearing .....so not so bad..... don't remember what spell was it I used
Still loving the new into 😁👍 I have watched a few docu's on Werewolves & Peter Stump 😎 I have never been afraid of the Full Moon, I find her silvery light intoxicating 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑
In the 1990'ies, I was more or less lynched and saw quite a lot of abuse from people in my home city. Because I was accused of having caught a man, cut his hand off and sacrificed this hand to Odin - on top of a mountain in the area. Yes. I am serious. The shred of truth behind this was: I was being robbed by a foreigner at a bus stop, I assaulted the robber who was wielding a "Butterfly knife". He screamed in pain and then ran away. On the freshly fallen snow, there was blood (not much I might add) - but the blood was not mine. Moments later the bus came, and I got on it and went home. That's all there is to it. In one way or another, that guy or some witness or whoever turned it into a really weird modern day "witch trial" against me. I told just a few friends what happened before this became "publicly known", and I was seen as some sort of monster.
The most dangerous monsters, and the deepest dangers are often hidden in the most captivating beauty in our midst... But at the same time, I feel that the man in this video was unjustly accused, and the evidence used against him was circumstansial. He might have just been a man who was the victim of circumstances for all we know, and the real culprit got away.
6:22 i sounds to me like they had already decided that it was him long before the hunt began and it was more than likely they to ""chased"" the werewolf to were they know he was going to be, it wouldnt be too hard for them to drive there dogs to a location of their own choosing and oh look we have ""lost"" the werewolf and found you here, so you must be the wolf.
Damn shame what people will do for religion. What gets me is he supposedly made a deal with the devil for the power to shapeshift but NOT to regrow his missing hand!? 🤔 Inquisitors were the worst. And his mistress and daughter smh, just so much senseless death...
@Death Dealer Very true 😀 He was being a vampire fang blocker lol. Liked Lucien and Selene together as well. Hope they bring underworld back even though the last one wasn't as good 😭
@Death Dealer They should have made a underworld evolution 2 🤗 we could have got more michael and selene. You are right they mostly just used him as and cameo scene filler 😭
It is absolutely scary how CRUEL people were then and now and how ignorant and Stupid people can be and are. And religion seems to always play a role in these type stories.
The legend of the werewolf is a long and tiring one. The history behind it could take years to fully learn and understand, but there is no doubt in my mind that the werewolf, not just being a mental manifestation of cannibalism as some like to think, is and was a real creature. The werewolves that were around back then were probably a lot more open about it because it was MORE frowned upon. Think of it like this, witchcraft/witch-hunts were big but no tangible evidence from that time period to show that it was in fact real witches behind the hysteria. The same goes for the werewolves. We are bringing the time era back many many years before now, and they are still brought up in media and television but why? There is something that people know about that they won’t say. I do strongly believe we have those same creatures in today’s society, just not as many and very secretive. The reason? Well that’s simple, back in the 15- mid 1800s we had dirt roads and horse and buggy’s with people terrified of there own shadow if they saw the slightest bit of devil in it. If you take a step back though and you believe in the supernatural then think of this, crossroads demons. They were real and they were summoned often, especially back then, for deals to be made that involved fame, fortune, power, and wealth. Demons, being as tricky as genies, took advantage of the lack of correct punctual deals being asked for. So it was very possible that these people asked for the power and strength of an animal. Now you may be asking “where is this guy going with this?” Well I’m about to tell you right now, with those people asking, they never specified how long, if it could be controlled, or any other important things you should obviously capitalize on when making a deal with a demon. So they got a once every night transformation that wasnt control in any way and enjoyed the power given. So they spoke up knowing the hounds were probably killing them either way. In real time, I believe werewolves are real of the same deals being made with more specifics. It is still possible to summon a crossroads demon even with asphalt, since it’s not the dirt that they came from but the items and incantations used and said during the ritual. So I believe that we have, wait for it cause it’s far fetched but everyone is watching a video on real life werewolves so humor me but, immortal werewolves that have been alive since the late 1800s- early 1900s and more of them popping up with more and more people summoning demons and making deals with the devil. I would be lying if I said I haven’t thought about attempting this summoning ritual myself and seeing if I can undergo the whole lycanthropy transformation. What people need to realize though is that, this isn’t twilight. You don’t have sparkly vampires and big fluffy wolves. If you do this and you succeed you will be a bloodthirsty 4 legged creature of the night that runs on all 4 and stalks, hunts, and stands on 2. Some food for thought.🤔
Stories of men changing into wolves date back to Ancient Greece. But werewolf trials in Europe occurred during the 15th, 16th & 17th centuries. According to Dutch historian, De Blécourt: "The total number of prosecuted werewolves in Europe probably did not exceed several hundred." Not many compared to the 35,000 - 50,000 people executed as witches from 1450-1750 AD.
Thanks so much for the Informative video I'm going to Find out more about Peter Stubbs what the people did to Him was barbaric there are Other real accounts of werewolves to Romansanta its Not easy been a werewolf or Lycan Cos its a constant battle Between there wolf form & Humanity I sympaththise with Them.
Sooo... He ripped the fetuses from pregnant women to eat their tiny fetus hearts??? 🙄🙄🙄 He must've felt 'snackish' as the size of an unborn human heart ranges from about a poppyseed, to a quarter... ***Unlimited eyerolls @ the 'townsfolk"*** 🤣
Actually every sort of different atmosphere has effects on people, on their emotions and all... That's science, I would disagree about the hearts thing
wow this was such a cool legend. too bad we would never know the truth about peter. for all we know he could have been a kind man who was aging, or maybe had some type of illness. yet one foul deed having a mistress probably sealed his fate. really cool legend my friend do the creature of bray road please.
People don‘t know that werewolves exist. Not shapeshifters that transform into giant, furry, monsters. We are normal people like you, just with more lupine instincts and drives. When we „shift“ it happens psychologically...our mindsets adapt a canine way of seeing things and thinking. The key to understanding us is: think less like a man and more like a wolf. Physically we don‘t differ from you, we‘re just more animalistic. However...when you get treated and satanised like a mindless beast for long enough, you eventually become one. Over the years there have been different explanations for us...some are spiritual, some are based in psychology. But either way, no matter how it is explained, the behaviour is there and won‘t go away. I‘m talking from experience here. Lot‘s of „legends and myths“ have a existing reality behind them, that has been exagerated by the old churches and now by hollywood.
Although I believe in werewolves and other Cryptids I don't think that he was a werewolf perhaps it was because of his religious views or being in the wrong places at the wrong times this seems a lot like the Salem Witch Trials I'm almost certain he was forced to confess
Personally I think the whole case and many others throughout history involving the "supernatural" or "paranormal" were just another power grab move of the Catholic church to supress their enemies (Protestants at the the time) and consolidate power. Similar to what they're doing today minus the executions (as far as I know).
Well no more murders occurred after his execution. I feel for his daughter and mistress although it seems there was more to their story. What a scared angry AF villagers of this small medieval German town. Either they got him or the execution was enough to deter the potential real killers or others or any help Peter may have had. Very interesting
British author, famous for his books on the occult: witchcraft, vampires, werewolves. Edited anthologies of supernatural tales and gothic fiction. Translated a book on demonology which led to an obscenity trial. Eccentric literary celebrity, paraded around like a Catholic priest witch-hunter, accused of pederasty, lechery, decadence and of anti-Catholic propaganda.
If it was just a means to scare people into becoming Catholic it was really overkill (no pun intended here.) I think (and even hope considering the punishment he received) he might have been a serial killer. Serial killers can on the surface act like normal people (hence the werewolf comparison) in society, but become sadistic killers when they're killing victims. A killer who goes from killing animals to humans is very typical of a sadistic personality and Stumpp was just as likely to be that sort of killer. When it comes to killing someone over religious differences you don't need that much excuse or the need to blame murders on someone, people were massacred for far less, and if you think about it if he was someone who made pacts with the Devil than whatever religious background he has is null and void to whatever sect he claimed to be. Either side would have executed him.
Those people killed him they was Pierre idiots those people was no good at all did him that way.. those people couldn't find the wolf and kills him for it because they didn't know better pretty much he wouldn't guilty of nothing lot of that stuff is made up
