My most beloved symfonie of Tchaikovsky, it is such a great music, all things come together in this symfonie; love, love he couldn't express to love a man because he was married to a woman, disaster, sadness, joy, live and death. Also a great performance.

🌠 "Classical music is the language of the soul, expressing emotions that words cannot convey, unveiling a profound spiritual world." 🎻💖

Une pathétique à la fois très investie sentimentalement et très digne, très noble et maîtrisée, avec un splendide orchestre !!!!

Wow! Bychkov puts heart and soul into his conducting. "Heart and soul" - a common phrase, and being so familiar, it can become trite. But I use that phrase with great care and intent - Bychkov surrenders himself to the music, inviting you to do the same. He demands total surrender as this is Tchaikovsky at his most heartfelt statement of himself. It is not simply "historical interest" the reason for the wave of releases from Bychkov and the WDR orchestra. it's because they have had a musically significant collection to share, and do so at no charge. So, the vision is 4 x 3. So what. Yes I prefer the wide format so rarely watch the earlier one. But to deny myself of this performabce would be ridiculous. I suspect to compensate, this has been made available at high data rates to get a sharp image, but also "Blu-ray" quality in sound as well as vision. One questuon, In the vaults, is there a performance of the Tchaikovsky 5 with Bychkov and this orchestra?

Thank you, Bryan! Unfortunately there is not, maybe you will like Tschaikowsky 5 with our chief conductor Cristian Măcelaru: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hYR6LAWCCfQ.html

The result is splendid, but this symphony is a self-runner and the conducting mostly overrated..

Too much useless focus on the conductor! The audience wants primarily to see the MUSICIANS - the actual music makers - of the orchestra. When the camera spends minute after minute after minute focused on the chin and eyebrows of the conductor, you know something is not quite right. I spent so long staring at Bychkov's eyebrows that I can number tell you how many are in each brow. FIRE the cameraman!

This is superb playing by the orchestra, but Bychkov managed to make it boring somehow
