he's a reflection of what makes immigration so valuable. he's an intelligent and independent thinker and doer because he's German. take away smart, hard working and skilled immigrants from America and the only thing that's left are fat ignorants with guns.
@AlBundy, not necessarily. But vast immigration of people from poor cultures (Islam in particular) will be devastating for the US; whereas immigrants from countries such as China, Japan, India, and Europe have been overwhelmingly beneficial to the country.
Love the way this guy thinks. It’s just simple facts he’s reiterating. Politics aside, as a 20-some odd year old in this country, it’s a disaster how “politically correct” we have become. Universities are the breeding grounds for all the madness!
Please home school your children. Even if you do it in small groups. Government run schools change subtly each year. They learn in a few hrs at home what takes days in school.
The Good wife: Great comment! Good for you and hope people listen. My wife and I did after researching public schools and the destruction from within brought on by leftist thinkers that are undermining this county. Food for thought: A quote from Vladimir Lenin, “Give me just one generation of youth, and I’ll transform the whole world.” Adolf Hitler understood the “power of propaganda” and said: “Universal education is the most corroding and disintegrated poison that liberalism has ever invented for its own destruction.” More quotes by Adolf Hitler: “He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future.” “What good fortune for governments that the people do not think” “The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one” “The broad masses of a population are more amenable to the appeal of rhetoric than to any other force.” “It is not truth that matters, but victory” “It is always more difficult to fight against faith than against knowledge.” “Humanitarianism is the expression of stupidity and cowardice.” “Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.” “Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future.” “By the skillful and sustained propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise.”
Depends on the quality of teaching in the home. The utility of a school lies in having teachers specialized and trained in sciences, mathematics, writing, reading, and how these are best taught to individuals of all ages and capabilities. The value of home schooling has to be weighed against this, and if the person or people doing the homeschooling are capable of offering similar abilities in these subjects with the added benefit of focusing on only a few students, then it's a better decision. If, however, the homeschool teacher is just barely competent in these subjects the students will be at a deficit. It should be acknowledged that the education offered in public schools can be supplemented with teaching in the home and with extra curricular activities, which can temper the ideological influence the schools have, can improve the amount of material covered, and can preserve the benefits that the increased socialization of public schools has. With the economic trend of automation and elimination of low-skill jobs, and increased valuation of intellectual ability and training, it is a lethal decision to mitigate the development of these capabilities in our children purely for the preservation of ideological leanings. I am a product of public schools. Although it is rare for right-leaning kids to come out of the public school system, if it's the truest interpretation of the data we have then exposure in the real world will cultivate truth within graduates. We should exercise extreme diligence in this decision. Just my 2c.
Jason Roy I think I was confused when I wrote that. I don't think the L.A. area has a better high tech economy, I can't believe that I even wrote that. I do, however, believe that it has a larger, more diversified economy.
@Grandfather_Din_Racket U HAVE 0 COMMON SENSE? ALL TECH COMPANIES WERE FUNDED-FOUNDED-IDEATIONED BY DEFENSE CORPORATIONS! BILLIE TRANNIE GATSY AND TRANNIE STEVIE JOBSIE COULD NEVER ANSWER TOUGH TECH QUESTIONS ON STAGE!
Enormous respect for Mr. Thiel's entrepreneurial contributions to the world. That said California writ large is the "only place for innovation" because it literally receives 50% of all US venture capital as a state. Mr. Thiel's view would be more "contrarian" if he supported regional entrepreneurs in other states that receive fractions of larger funds as opposed to simply supporting folks that look and act like him in a different region. Great ideas are dispersed throughout the country and it would be nice if legends like this supported them to instead of perpetuating more of the same.
I wonder when they will build a monument to William Shockley in Silicone Valley. Silicon Valley would not exist without William Shockley. Does anybody remember "Shockley Semiconductor", LoL...He certainly could not get a job in today's market.
He is smart because he is prepared. He likely spends many hours studying, reflecting, and contemplating his and others ideas in order to reach his conclusions. We see the result of that presented here in a very intelligent way. He's also a master networker I am sure. All of that in combination makes him very powerful and influential.
We all have different experiences I guess. I did not share the same circles as Thiel, but I can say I never felt pressured, ostracized or otherwise crushed by people with views different than my own, and I lived and worked in Silicon Valley for 12 years. The only reason I left was so that I could own property before I die.
The Bay Area Echo-chamber. I left 5 years ago. He is 100% right on the money. Most of my friends there echo the same exact politics. The politics of FB, Apple and Far Left politics. Nothing else is acceptable. I stand for universal law, individualism, non-aggression principle, logic etc. Theirs is the group think of totalitarianism and identitarianism.
Thiel reminds me of somebody... I have to figure out who.. but it is persistently there..thieeeeeeeel, STREAMING WORKS... whether though cable, or from satellite relay.. its content which is going to decide how successfully... today cables have been laid down everywhere from old copper ones to new fiber optic ones... but this huge network of crisscrossing cables everywhere are doing or carrying only that much business from internets streaming services telephones well ground telephones are fast replacing cellular ones.. so this huge cables have to used or they die and with that die so much investments in them done... so .. think what all should be created in cables to use them.. as of now not even half of them are in use.
Yes we are and we all secretly hate the DemoCraps and Bay Area. The only problem for us that the DemoCraps have too much power here that must of us don't have a choice. We see how curropt they are in daily basis but we can't get rid of them because they monopolize themselves in power here.
Frank ss I’d say move to Boulder, CO. Ranked number one for happiest people. Already has a boom tech industry going. Great scenery, terrific weather, nice people, what’s not to love? Maybe I’m playing it up a bit. I moved to Portland, OR six months ago. Boring scenery, terrible weather, and I swear 75% of everyone under 50 has either part of their hair or all of it dyed a fluorescent color. You know the type, they just hate conformity.
As a Bay Area native and SF resident, I can completely agree with all his points. We really, truly are a hive mind of pure liberalism. I'm not saying that's bad by nature, but the extent to which we disallow open discussion so as to protect our "openness to others" (read: being okay solely with those that we identify as a minority group in America as a whole such as the LGBT community and people of minority ethnic backgrounds) while not allowing ANY openness to those of a mindset other than our own, is highly toxic. I feel that this currently is and in the future will be our downfall, but from my daily interactions with others, I see no signs of this easing up. Although I fully and completely disagree with Mr. Trump on nearly every single issue, that doesn't mean that there aren't any positive points that can be found in his commentary. We should seek it out rather than immediately disregard it, and we can learn from people like Mr. Thiel to actually be open to discourse rather than just put up a facade. Well done, Peter. Thank you for (hopefully) helping sparking a conversation that needs to be had here.
Joseph Morales Trans people in the military is VERY different than human rights in the United States. If you could explain why people claim this maybe it could change my opinion or enlighten me. Sinply WOMEN in combat is an entirely new idea only being implemented in the past 2 or 3 years. The reasoning beyond the physical element, was that men naturally have an instinct to protect women. That an all male unit operates differently then one with women in it. And the negative consequence isnt from a bigoted or negative action. Its from men instinctually being more protective of the women. So if a unit of 8 guys where every 1 man protects the 7 soldiers with him, it matters if now a unit of 5 men and 3 women operates differently. If 1 of those five soldiers now unconciously puts the safety of the 3.women over the other 4 male soldiers..... that is an entirely different unit in its operation. The military also isnt a democracy. It isnt a place where all of your rights and freedoms are the same. You are a soldier. If you are in combat and the officer tells everyone to do something no one has the right to stand up and give their opinion under the 1st amendment. Things work differently in the military than US Civilian Society. The other obvious inplication with a trans in the military is soldiers are on government healthcare. People with medical conditions are screened when joining. Having a medical condition that requires medicine and other things changes situations. Now my opinion on this and hownit should be from the military/heslthcare perspective isnt exact, and mostly due to lack of education on all the facets of being transsexual, meaning i do not know the diffetences if say someone never wants to do a sex change. Or if they not only dont want to ever do that, they dont ever plan to do hormone replacement either. Meaning all that changes is the sex they call themselves. That in my opinion does change the medical part of the equation, but like i said i do not know enough to have an opinion on it myself, i just knoe enough to know its vastly more complicated than everyone is saying when they just say its a bigoted rule. And like i said, thats before they even get into the psychological aspect of who is in your unit and how it operates. I guess my biggest confusion is why people are treating the military as if your rights and the way it works in the mikitsry is the same as any other facet of Civilian Life because it isnt at all. Military operates on an entirely diff set of rules. You dont get court marshalled for walking out on your job in Google. The mikitary will crominally prosecute you, send you home dishonorably discharged, possibly even stripping your right to vote.
Peter says what everyone wants to hear, but nobody watches what he's doing. Like building a bunker. The guy's an oligarch who doesn't give a damn about petty "values".
I would prefer LA to ... Sure it's full of Liberals to ... But overall LA seems like a place most don't give a shit ... It's more diverse in political views and lifestyles ... You will find both gun owning conservatives and vegan/yoga/health freaks in living the same neighborhood. LA is more chaotic and spread around the social and political spectrum. In San Fran. area people are obsessively progressive
sorry, i didn't mean to call you a name. it just sounds so dumb when reading your comment, knowing it's not a toupee. It's just a bad haircut or bad hair day. toupees don't look like that
Never thought I would say this about Peter considering his status in startup world. But I would not be suprised if he turns out to have some very bigoted views on minorities. Independent thinking is great but you can still be prejudices.
Trump is not wrong on a lot of things... you can dislike the man but just take a step back and look at the issues we’re talking about. Generally he’s done well with the economy ext. take a step back and stop being so emotional
