The truck is looking good, and now It has new shocks ! When you have something nice you want To take care of it. Witch is why You got genuine parts, my friend. Stay safe 🙏 and God bless 🙌
I kinda wanna keep it original as much as possible that’s why I’m glad I got these. And I’m even more glad that I got them because the truck is riding a lot better since I put them on.
Hello OTR bandit, hope the new shocks improve the ride, just a mention on the front shocks, the washers under the nut usually go with the curved edge towards the rubber bush. Good maintenance. Yes, those old brake chambers will kill you. Thanks for the video, keep safe.🇦🇺
Looking at it now, I think you are correct. Whoever replaced the previous shocks didn’t put it back correctly and I was putting it back the way I found it on here. I will have to fix that when I get back home. This weekend I’ll be doing my oil change and I’ll get that corrected too. Good catch. Thank you very much buddy.
Nice job, and that would save you some money for sure! Your video brought back something to my mind about shocks. I worked for Ryder Truck Line from !973 to 1990 that eventually became PIE that went bankrupt in Dec. 1990. Anyway getting to the thought I had, the last tractors PIE bought didn't have shocks on the front end? I guess you can imagine how they rode just going over a bridge. A challenging time for sure! Nobody could ever explain why they got away with that. None of the other drivers complained about it. Sorry just me rambling. Be safe out there! 😎 Drifter
I’m old school, started driving with chauffeurs license. You are teaching the younger generation well. Only thing I can suggest is to use a pipe wrench to keep them from spinning. But, the saws-all works as well.
You learn something new every day. Thank you very much for that suggestion. Pipe wrench would work great. I will definitely be buying one next time I replace these.
Yea buddy, thanx for the tutorial video of changing out the shocks. Please let us know how different the glider rides with the new shocks.. I know that the car dealerships, charge about $$ 100-125 per hour for labor, I don't know what a truck dealership charges for labor, I'm sure its much more.. Stay safe out there, look for your next video...
Truck shops charge anywhere from $200-$300 in some areas. There are some shops that are cheaper than that but I would rather pay extra for better quality work. And the truck rides much better now. I’ve noticed the difference immediately after I took it for a test run.
As a test, if you want to know if your shocks are working, touch or use a thermal gun on the metal part after a run or road test, they should be very warm to the touch if they are working, if they are cool to the touch then they are not. There should be a hex key slot on top of the threaded area of the shaft, loosen the nut first and insert a hex socket into the shaft, hold the nut with a wrench and spin it off that way (just another way to accomplish the same task)
@@OTRBandit aftermarket may not have the hex or something applicable, most all have some way of using a tool to hold the shaft, it could be a square cut on top also or possibly even on the bottom since it is a solid shaft, the saw is just a great option for saving time, all of us are all about that 😎
Nice job on the shocks bro.' Always great to see a guy taken care of stuff himself, ''gitten 'er done." Saving piles of cash too This I know, but 'effing love it! Good job again bruh and video!
Thank you very much 🙏🏼 gotta save money anyway we can. It’s tough out here right now. Wish I had my own shop. I could do and fix anything if I had my one space. I could even rebuild the engine.
I installed Paccar front shocks on my 389 last July, and in 3 months time, my left steer started cupping on the outside. Never again with those shocks. Went with Bulldogs
Paccar shocks are junk in my opinion. I replaced my front from Paccar to Monroe and it rides much better now. I think I’ll end up replacing my rear shocks as well. And like you said, never again.
@@bourbontrail565 that does help. Thank you.. This truck has less than 400,000 miles and it looks like rear shocks are original but the front ones have been replaced before. I do not know when because I didn’t do it. They can last a very long time as long as you don’t drive all crazy over potholes and stuff.
Pride of ownership like anything else of real value, right? Am enjoying your content, am curious where your accent is from? If I were to guess Upper Midwest? Or are you either part or full Indigenous something? I'm Eskimo, though raised by white parents so no distinctive "Native" accent. Though I do speak other languages, only a few words of Inupiaq. My parents(adopted)tried really hard to teach me, but young me was very embarrassed. Today I embrace it. Anyway, just curious- & I love your Rig! I am seriously debating getting into trucking & working the North Slope. But would ❤traveling the US Continental US. I reside in Denver, and loath it as much as you seemingly do, probably different reasons. Except the drivers 😂. If you read comments idk ? Be neat to know. I've been watching a variety of "OG" Drivers I'm not young. Not ancient probably similarly aged 😂ish
Good to have you here and thank you for watching my friend. I am actually originally from Bosnia. That’s where my accent comes from. I know it’s hard to tell because sometimes I have it and then sometimes I don’t have it. It is never too late to get into trucking my friend and you even have these big trucking companies that will pay for your training and everything.
@OTRBandit oh Cool! I went to Sarajevo as well as Dubrovnik a few years ago. Really enjoyed it, was surreal to think not that long ago, you know. How neat!
@@ElliottTucker1050Yes sir. Everything is good over there now. I’m from Srebrenica where biggest massacre in Europe since WW2 happened. And it happened on my birthday. So now I can never celebrate my birthday unfortunately. But it is what it is.
This truck is in pretty good shape. It has less than 400K miles on it. It should have allot more for 2016 truck but it was sitting for a long time before I bought it in late 2022
I love dogs but I wouldn’t want one in the truck with me. I don’t like stopping often when I’m driving and if I had a dog I would have to stop every couple hours.
@@robertkelley6765 I did have a dog with me in a truck about 15 years ago, but I just didn’t feel like he was happy in a truck so I gave him to my cousin. .
Monroe shocks are good shocks, i have used them for many years, never had any problems. When you take them off and they spin, you may have to hold them to stop them from spinning around on you brother. I use to change my oil at my house and everything else i did myself.
