Date filmed: 20/12/2018
Location: Station Road, Petersfield
Trains: Class 444 (South Western Railway)
Level Crossing controlled from the adjacent signal box located just beside Petersfield station.
This is one of only a few level crossings that have three alarms. Two are on the on-side wigwags, and there is a grey alarm located on one of the exit-side wigwags, which is very fast, loud, and produces the sound that has always been heard at this level crossing. One of the alarms is significantly quieter than the other two. This crossing also has 6 wigwags, and very old barriers with supporter arms which have seen better days. One of them squeals really loudly as it raises, and one of them had its skirting stuck out at the time of filming.
The class 444 that can be seen sitting in the Portsmouth-bound platform had broken down, and services on the down line (towards Portsmouth) line were disrupted for a few hours.
Thanks for watching!
